Meeting Koga
Chapter 18:
Kagome walked back outside and saw Miroku meditating under a cherry tree. Kagome sat next to him and waited. After a few minutes Miroku opened his eyes. He jumped when he saw Kagome sitting next to him.
“Sorry for startling you.” Miroku waved his hand.
“Don’t worry about it. What can I help you with Lady Kagome?” Kagome took a deep breath.
“What is going on with you?”
“What are you talking about?” Kagome looked down at her hands as she spoke.
“Sango is worried about you. She said that you aren’t acting normal. She is concerned and has asked me to speak to you.” Kagome looked up at Miroku. He had a puzzled look on his face.
“I haven’t been doing anything.” Kagome nodded her head.
“That’s the point.” Miroku nodded.
“I see. I have altered my attitude toward women. Sango is bothered by this? I thought that this would make her happy.” Kagome smiled sweetly at him.
“Sango thinks that you don’t like her anymore.” Miroku threw his head back and laughed. Kagome chuckled quietly to herself.
“I thought that this would make her happy and she turned out unhappy.”
“You should talk to her. Tell her how you feel. Tell her why you were doing this.” Miroku nodded and stood to walk off. Kagome settled against the tree and closed her eyes. She felt a pull on her aura and opened her eyes. Kagome felt two shards approaching the palace. Kagome stood quickly and went to the palace gates. She saw Sesshomaru standing by the gates. He motioned her to stand next to her.
“I sense jewel shards approaching the palace.” Sesshomaru nodded.
“The first of the other Lords are here.” The palace gates swung open and Koga was standing on the other side of them. Kagome relaxed when she saw who it was. Koga bowed toward Sesshomaru.
“Lord Sesshomaru. It is always a pleasure.” Sesshomaru inclined his head and placed his hand on the small of Kagome’s back.
“You know Kagome.” Koga stared at her for a moment before leaping into action. Kagome found both of her hands clasped in his.
“Kagome! How is my woman doing? What are you doing here?” Kagome gently extracted her hands and stepped back into Sesshomaru.
“I’m not your woman Koga. I’m here because Sesshomaru asked me to stay here.” Koga took a step forward and stopped. Sesshomaru placed his hand on her shoulder.
“I see. Well, at least he’s better than that mutt.” Koga stepped back and bowed before continuing through the gates. Kagome let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding and leaned more heavily against Sesshomaru. His hand tightened on her shoulder. Kagome straightened and turned to face him.
“I’m sorry about that. Koga has always had this thing about me. I hope it doesn’t cause any problems during his stay.” Sesshomaru nodded slightly before offering his arm. Kagome gently wrapped her hand around his arm and was led back into the palace.
Sesshomaru led her into his study before letting her go. He turned and locked the door before seating himself on the couch. Kagome followed him and sat on the far side from him. Sesshomaru grabbed her hand and gently tugged her closer. Kagome settled against his chest as his arm came around her. She relaxed and closed her eyes. She felt herself start to drift off when a knock came at the door. Kagome sat up and saw Sesshomaru’s eye’s closed. She got up and went to the door. Quietly she slid it open a little bit and saw Koga.
“I’m sorry, Koga. Sesshomaru is really busy right now. Can this wait?”
“Yeah, I’ll see you at dinner.” Koga left and Kagome closed the door and locked it again. She looked over at Sesshomaru and he still had his eyes closed. Kagome slid over and curled back up next to him. His arm slowly crept back over her and Kagome quickly fell asleep in his arms.
Kagome felt something shift against her. She snuggled deeper into the warmth and mumbled.
“Stop moving.” It settled again and Kagome started to drift off again. She felt something wrap around her and pull her away from the warmth. Kagome gripped it tightly and tried to snuggle more into it. When her warmth started to vibrate, Kagome opened her eyes and came face to face with a pair of golden eyes. Kagome jumped up and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. Then she heard the knocking on the door. Kagome looked to Sesshomaru and stood to answer the door. Rin and Shippo were standing on the other side of it.
“What’s wrong?” Kagome opened the door farther. Rin looked over at Sesshomaru still sitting on the couch.
“Dinner’s been ready for a while daddy.” Sesshomaru nodded and stood. Shippo and Rin skipped down the hall. Kagome looked over a Sesshomaru and saw how disheveled he looked. She smiled sweetly and united his sash. Sesshomaru raised his eyebrow at her but let her continue. Kagome straightened his shirt before retying the sash. Then she ran her fingers through his hair until it was lying smooth again. She stepped back and nodded. She then reached up and undid her hair. Sesshomaru nodded and sweep out of the room toward the dinning hall. Kagome smiled to herself before following him. Kagome heard the conversation before she entered the room.
“Sesshomaru! I was going to speak to you earlier but it seemed that you were rather busy at the time. Can we talk after dinner?” Kagome came through the door and Sesshomaru turned to her and raised his eyebrow. Kagome smiled and blushed, quickly moving to her seat.
After everyone was seated dinner was brought out. Dinner was quiet. Not very many people talked and Sesshomaru would look at Kagome every once in a while making her blush. After dinner Sesshomaru grabbed Kagome’s arm as everyone was leaving the room. Kagome turned to face him and blushed.
“Koga came to my office earlier.” Sesshomaru had a blank face on and Kagome wasn’t sure if he was mad or not so she answered truthfully.
“He did. You were sleeping and I told him to come back latter. I didn’t want to wake you.” Kagome looked at the floor and waited for his response. She felt his arms go around her and relaxed.
“Thank you.” Kagome snuggled into his chest and let him hold her.
“Your welcome.”
