Chapter Seventeen


"I get the shower first," Tar grabbed a change of clothes and ran for the bathroom door. She wanted to soak under the hot water.

"Save some hot water for us." Mai watched her go inside slamming the door behind herself. "She seems upset about something, what happened here?"

"What do you mean?" Kagome blushed.

"Well, we found Tar walking down the street. Where were you? She said something about you being with Hiei. So something must have happened between her and Yusuke to upset her. We will have to ask her when she gets out. But first where the hell were you?"

"On the roof with Hiei." Kagome sat down on the bed, her shoulders were killing her. He'd taken her up there before she had time to protest. He talked her into accepting his help, okay he bullied her into it. They'd been working on her putting up a shield to protect herself when they were attacked. The few times he'd knocked her on her ass hurt. She was going to hide under the bed the next time he came to 'train' her. "He's trying to train me if you can believe it."

"Hmm, that might not be a bad idea. You have an amazing aura, imagine how powerful you could be with the right training." Mai looked to see her blushing. "Is that the only thing that happened?"

"Of course."

"I don't think so, you are blushing. Did you kiss again?"

"I'm not answering that. So what do you think is up with Tar?" Kagome tried to change the subject, something other than herself.

"You did, you little ho! And I think our little friend has a crush on Yusuke. What do you think?"

"Yeah, I'm almost positive she likes him. Though they seem to be constantly at each other's throats. Kind of reminds me of Inuyasha and I." Kagome let her thoughts wonder back to when she'd first met him and all the fights they had gotten in. "Shame him and his girlfriend are back together. Don't get me wrong I'm sure she's a nice person."

"Wonder how long she's going to hang around." Mai sat beside Kagome. "I say we play matchmaker."

"What do you have in mind?" Kagome's interested suddenly soared.

"Well, we can't do anything while Keiko is here. I say when she isn't here we formulate some plans to get them two together. Don't look at me like that, I know we will be scheming to steal someone's man. I see it this way, if he was meant to be with her then nothing we do will split them up."

"Guess you have a point but doesn't make it right." Kagome wasn't sure she liked the idea.

"We won't actually be doing anything, just finding ways for them to spend time together. We can't force them to like each other or do anything together. We will just be giving them the opportunity to find out. Just a little help is all."

"Girl you bad." Kagome laughed at her fallen expression. "But I say let's do it."


Kurama looked up from making dinner as Yusuke and Keiko walked into the kitchen. Hiei was already sitting at the table, looking none too happy. "What are you two up to?" Kurama turned to burner down.

"Actually, I want to ask you something." Keiko smiled at him. "Yusuke and I had planned to stay the night together but now he can't leave. I was wondering if you cared if I stayed here with him."

Kurama didn't know what to say. Actually, he did care. He liked Keiko, she was a very wonderful person. She was friends with them all. Everyone liked her and admired her. Lately, he'd started to believe that she wasn't the one meant for Yusuke though. They loved each other that much was obvious. But they had grown up together and been friends then had taken the relationship further. Yusuke had never experienced another woman but her. The fox believed Yusuke needed someone more like himself. When he looked at the two, something was missing between them. It was that spark that kept relationships alive, full of energy. In his opinion now that they had finally crossed the line of becoming lovers; it was only a matter of time before they realized there was no passion between them. "Not at all, you and Yusuke can use my room for the night. I'll take the couch with Hiei."

"Hn." Hiei didn't care who shared the bed with him. He'd prefer the miko over the fox though. Speaking of which, why hadn't they come down yet? At least the small one was entertaining, he really didn't want to watch these two. It made him want to smack the detective. Unknown to the two Hiei had stopped by Yusuke's house one evening. Seeing that the door was locked and he got no answer, he made sure the detective was inside. Sensing him he'd went to the bedroom window to knock. What he saw made him want to laugh. The two had been going at it, kind of. The girl had been laying there like a corpse while Yusuke worked over her. He couldn't imagine how the boy had gotten off. Hell the girl hadn't even been making any noise, something was surely amiss. He quickly left before he was noticed.

Hiei looked at both of them. Well if they did happen to fuck tonight atleast no one else had to worry about hearing them. He looked Keiko over taking her in. Sure she was pretty for a human, not a bad body either. Even he had felt a slight attraction to her at one time but it had quickly ended. She had spunk for a girl but that's where it ended. She was meant to be the mate of a normal human male in his opinion. At one point he'd wondered about the scene he'd watched. He wondered which one prefered coupling that way. He payed close attention the next time he saw them together. Yusuke had placed his hand on the girl's lower back and she freaked out. It was obvious the girl was the one that didn't like to be touched. Hiei knew even though Yusuke acted like smart ass tough guy, deep down he was very passionate, very gentle. Eventually, he would want someone he could express himself with. What man wanted to be with a woman whose body they couldn't caress or explore?

'Thinking of exploring and caressing, when the hell are those three going to come down?' Hiei glared at Keiko when she sat down next to him and started nagging about the fight earlier.

"Hiei, dinner is ready. Will you go up and get the others please." Kurama gave him a reason to leave. He could sense his friend's irritation. He took the seat Hiei vacated. "I'm glad I got the eight seat table. Keiko will you help me fix the table?"

"Sure."

Yusuke sighed when she finally stopped complaining. Would it always be this way? He heard the others talking as they came into the kitchen. Actually, he heard her. His ears seemed to focus on her voice, probably because it was so annoying. "Do you have to talk all the time?" He turned to glare at her.

"I don't know, do you always have to be such a bastard?" She asked sweetly, he was asking for it. All she had done was walk into the blasted kitchen. He must of accidently sat on his girlfriend's dick.

"Please you two, try to get along." Kurama tried not to smile, they were both in denial.

"Tell him to get the dick out his ass." Tar sat down as far as she could from him. "Fuckin baka, ass fucking jerk shit."

"Taree, watch your mouth that isn't called for." Mai didn't think the girlfriend would understand the tension between the two.

"He started it, if he keeps it up his girlfriend is going to see him get his ass kicked." She glared at him.

"I'd like to see you try you uptight bitch."

She snatched up the porcelein salt shaker before they could stop her. It slammed into his forehead, breaking on impact. Her hand was going for the pepper shaker but Hiei grabbed her arm. "Let go, that mouth of his is next."

"That's enough both of you." Kurama pried the shaker out her fingers, hoping she wasn't mad enough to accidently purify his fingers.

Mai got up to fetch the broom and dustpan, "Behave now Tar."

"Fine, let me go. I'll just pretend he doesn't exist." She snatched her arm away from Hiei. She crossed her arms and continued to glare at him.

Kagome had her head down when Hiei sat down next to her. Her shoulders began to shake causing him to look at her. Laughter began to reach his ears, the girl was giggling hysterically.

"Stop laughing Kagome." Mai was sweeping up the wasted salt by Yusuke's feet while Keiko held dust pan.

Tears sprang from her eyes as Kagome let the laughter consume her. She placed her head on the table and let it go. Kurama's laughter soon joined hers. "I'm sorry, hell no I'm not. That was too funny." She snorted and continued to laugh.

"Let's eat dinner, before anything else gets broken." Kurama placed the food on the counter. "Hopefully, I can find my spare salt shaker."

Hiei joined Kagome and Taree on the couch while Kurama and Mai cleaned up the dishes from dinner. Kieko and Yusuke had gone upstairs already. Both girls ignored him as they continued to talk amongst themselves. Which was fine he prefered to listen and observe. He silenty thought to himself, while he gave them half his attention. Knowing Kurama he was going to make a move on the blonde tonight. He was suprised the fox had waited this long, he must really like her. Hiei also wondered how long it would take Yusuke to realize that he was attracted to the small one. If he didn't already know.

Kagome tried to ignore Hiei as he sat next to her. She felt like telling him to leave but that would be rude. "I didn't care for that one."

"Really, it was one of my favorites." Tar tried to think. Her and Kagome got on the subject of artist and music. She changed her position, just to see the look on the fire youkai's face. She swung her legs over the arm of the couch, laying on her back with her head on Kagome's lap. "You make a wonderful pillow Kags. Wanna try it Hiei?"

He opened his eyes wide. Kagome answered for him, "No, he doesn't and don't you move your head up any higher or you'll end up on the floor."

"Don't worry you're not my type. How bout that one 'Naked and Sacred'? That use to be my favorite."

"I remember that, I use to sing it whenever it came on the radio." Kagome started humming the tune.

"That's it, sing for me baby." Tar started humming with her.

"When I'm with you, I feel naked and sacred. And this world can be so cold, I wanna hold you naked and sacred till I grow old." Kagome sang the first line.

Hiei interrupted her, "I suggest you stop now before I demand your friend leave."

Tar began to laugh at Kagome's red face. "He's thinking about you holding him in the buff." She sat up, "Bunch of damn perverts both of you. I'm going upstairs, have fun."

"Don't you leave me alone with him." Kagome yelled at her departing back.

Tar walked up the stairs meaning to go in the room, maybe play the game for a bit. She needed to get her mind off a few things. She stopped as she passed the master bedroom, what she heard was a quick reminder.

"Yusuke!" The girl inside said loud enough for Tar to hear, then came the sound of the headboard hitting against the wall several times. Tar continued to walk quickly making her way into their room. She turned the television on turning the volume up as loud as she dared.
