Making Things Right

Making Things Right

Kagome didn't know how to thank the little youkai enough. He had taken the chance and believed her. Now after being gone for only a day she had Koronue's half. Hiei had taken her into the Makai, she'd been suprised that there was a demon world co-existing beside the human one. Hiei wasn't sure of the exact spot but he knew where to find the now empty palace the two had been robbing when her lover had supposedly been killed.

She felt her joy leave her at seeing how large the grounds actually were. Hiei had walked up to her demanding to see the piece. She took it out her pocket, which she had wrapped in a cloth. He removed his the white headband and revealed a third eye.

"If it is here I'll find it."

Kagome sat down and waited for over two hours before the small demon started walking away. She leapt to her feet and followed him. He walked into a section filled with bamboo looking poles. He stopped at a spot and looked down. "There, I refuse to dig." Kagome gladly went to her knees and began searching. Buried under a foot of dirt and grass her fingers finally touched the smooth stone. She pulled it out and brushed it off. The necklace she'd given him not to long ago was looking back at her.

Kagome felt her heart soar when she was sure she felt him. A part of her wanted to put the stone back together then. But if she did there was a possiblity he'd come back injured. She didn't want to do that and have him die on her. Besides she wasn't doing this for herself, she was doing it for him. For both of them. "Lets head back."

Kagome didn't get home until the next day, by then she knew she was ready to collapse. Her ribs still ached and she was getting a head ache. She informed Hiei to drop her off at the shrine.

Once she was outside the shrine he put her down. She handed him Koronue's piece first, then hers wrapped in the cloth. "Take these to Shuichi, make sure they don't come together until you are there. He will not want them, we both know that. So please go to him and when it is possible you put both pieces together. Don't let him know. When you put both back together I'm guessing it will finish what it started and he will emerge. I'm not sure what state he will be in. We can only hope for the best."

"And if it works what do I tell them? Should they know you had a hand in doing it?"

"No, lie. Tell them that you found my half or something and you realized what kind of stone it was and you thought of the idea yourself. So you went to go find the other half."

"Hn. I doubt the fox will believe that."

"He'll believe that over me doing it. He hates me."

"Fine." He left her there.

"Thank you, Hiei." Kagome walked inside and found her mother waiting for her. She took one look at her daughter and didn't ask any questions. Kagome walked up the stairs to run a bath.

Hiei landed outside of Yusuke's apartment, he knew the fox was in there. He knocked on the door and Keiko answered. "Where have you been Hiei? Kurama has been out of his mind with worry."

The small man walked into the apartment, to see Kurama sitting on the couch. "You look like shit."

"Thank god Hiei, I wasn't sure what had happened to you. What took you so long?"

"Don't get your hopes up fox, the girl is alive." Hiei almost laughed at the fox's look. He could say he hated the girl but Hiei knew better. "Follow me, Yusuke mind if I use your spare bedroom?"

"What the hell for, I won't have none of that shit in my house."

"Spare me, follow me Kurama." Hiei walked into the small room and wasn't suprised when all three followed. He stood on the edge of the bed waiting till the fox was in the room.

"What are you doing Hiei?"

He smiled remembering the girl's words, take credit huh. "Call it a hunch I had." He pulled both pieces out his pockets. Kurama saw what he had.

"That's Koronue's pendant, why do you have it Hiei?" He took a step forward.

"Watch," Hiei slapped the pieces together. For several seconds nothing happened, then a bright light filled the room. Everyone turned their heads from the blast.

Kurama turned to yell at the fire youkai and paused. His eyes landed on the person now laying on the bed. His voice broke, "Koronue?"

"Don't just stand their fox, he still has his wounds. Stand there gawking and he will bleed to death." He turned to Keiko, "Go fetch some hot water and some bandages please."

Keiko moved at his please. Kurama ran to the bed and turned the man over. It was him, how? He smelt the blood and began to search for his wounds. There was a few of them where the spikes had entered his body but he was alive. Keiko came in with some hot water and rags. She put them on the dresser next to the bed. Yusuke helped Kurama undress the man and clean him up.

An hour later the man was patched up and sleeping on the bed. Kurama was sitting on a chair watching his partner, thanking whatever angel had been watching over his friend.

Please read and review.

AN: I kind of got the idea of the light thing from watching the movie, when it shows Koronue in the distance you see a bright light behind him. So I went with that.
