Chapter Nineteen


"Scruffy??"

Kouga grabbed the girl pulling her into a tight embrace spinning her around. "I knew it was you. Took me a few minutes. How the hell did you get here? I didn't think there'd be another girl with your name, and just as cute."

She hugged him. "It's good to see you again. Damn, how long has it been?"

"Too long, I almost decided it couldn't be you. How did this happen?" He looked down in the green eyes he remembered from his childhood.

"You mean how the hell am I alive."

"Yes," he started pulling on her ponytail.

"Naraku, did it." He growled at hearing the name.

"He brought me back to kill Inuyasha. Thats all I will say. I didn't do it though." She faked a growl at the familiar tugging. "Will you please stop that. You can't go crying to my mother when I beat the snot out of you."

"Hah, I never did that." He had a hold of her hair when she pushed away from him. "I got you now brat."

"Dammit let go. You remembered what happened last time you tried to walk me." She punched him in the gut.

"Better try better than that. I'm not a little boy anymore. I have nothing against hitting girls now." He grinned as she tried to swing at him again.

"You didn't have a problem then. I remember many a time you pushed me."

"That isn't hitting them." He grabbed her throwing her over his shoulder. When she began to struggle he slapped her on the ass. "Damn, your ass filled out."

"Dammit Scruffy, put me down before I purify your ass. I should have done it when you were still picking your nose."

"What!" He brought her down to land on her feet in front of him. "I never picked my nose." His blue eyes filled with joy at seeing her smiling face. He'd been a young boy traveling with his father. They'd been attacked, his father had won but was gravely injured. An older woman had found them bringing them both into her home. Kouga watched as she patched his father up. He'd been suprised to see the small girl enter the house no bigger than him. She'd had to be about five human years. She'd asked her mother who they were. Upon hearing that the man was injured she'd helped her mother well into the night to save the wolf demon. Him and his father had stayed there for several months. He never forgot the young girl, like his father had never forgotten the woman that had saved his life. After leaving, him and his father had returned often to see them. All together he'd visited them for over five years. Then one day they went to find that the village miko had died leaving her daughter alone. They were informed that the young girl would be taking over her mother's responsibilities. The last time Kouga had seen her she'd informed him that a Lady was staying at the village and she was helping take care of her. Years went by but he'd been too busy training to go see her. Then one day he went back and was informed that she had been killed.

"You did too. You look different, all grown up." She studied him for several moments. The last time she'd seen him was before Inuyasha was born. He was barely a teenager then. Now he was a grown man but he still had those beautiful blue eyes. A tear fell down her cheek.

He reached out wiping it off. "Are you that happy too see me?"

"Get over yourself. I still have sand in my eyes from your dramatic entrance snot nose." She saw his eyes go wide.

"You may look different but you still act the same, Raggie."

"I can't look that much different." She blushed when he looked her up and down.

"Like hell, not only did you get an ass but you filled out up top too. Are they as firm as they look?" She smacked him in the chest causing him too laugh. He grabbed her chin turning her face from side to side. "You got beautiful on me." He pulled her close, "If I wasn't already trying to claim a girl, I'd be tempted to throw you down and have my way with you."

She found herself on the ground with him sitting on top her. "No, you don't dammit." She tried to push him off but his weight held her down.

"If I remember I still owe you." He reached down and began to tickle her. "Still ticklish I see." He started laughing as she began to squirm under him.

"GET OFF ME DAMMIT!"


Inuyasha came out the woods to hit the road. "GET OFF ME DAMMIT!" He turned to see Kouga sitting on top of her grabbing her hands. Kagome jumped off at seeing them. Surely Kouga wasn't trying to hurt her. Inuyasha didn't stop to think. He charged them as soon as Kagome was down.

"I'm going to fucking kill you."

Kouga heard the scream and turned to see the hanyou rushing him. He leapt away taking Leiko with him, he wouldn't leave her in the hanyou's path. What the hell was dog shit's problem? He landed away and yelled. "What the hell are you doing dog shit?"
The hanyou charged again, Kouga kept ahold of the girl. Damn was he getting slow or had Inuyasha gotten faster?

Leiko felt herself being yanked up and in Kouga's arm. She had heard the yell and her heart felt crushed. Was he going to try and kill her to keep her silent about their night together. If so would she be able to fight back? Tears came to her eyes at the answer. Sesshomaru was right, he was her one weakness. She'd never be able to hurt him not even by trying to save her own life.

Kouga felt her shiver and smelt her tears. Damn stupid asshole! He leapt out the way of the claws coming at him. The fucker was trying to tear his head off. What had he done to piss dog shit off this time. He never went at him like this before. He truly meant to kill him. Kouga decided he had to get Leiko to safety before she got injured.

Sango landed Kirara next to her, and the other two wolf demons ran up on her other side. "What's going on Kagome?"

"Inuyasha is trying to attack Kouga. I'm not sure what we interrupted but I know what it looked like." For a second even Kagome thought it looked like Kouga was trying to rape the girl. But he wouldn't do that. Her heart stopped when Inuyasha unsheathed the Tetsusiaga. Was he out of his fucking mind?

Kouga saw it too. He was going to use his sword. The bastard was going to use the sword's power on him. Or try to Kouga wasn't going to let him. "Put it away dogshit. Don't make me kill you." He stopped to glare at him. He'd kill Inuyasha if he had no choice, it would hurt Kagome but he wasn't going to let his friend get hurt.

"SIT BOY!!!" THUD! He went down. Kagome crossed the distance and got within speaking range of them. "Kouga, will you release Leiko please. I think it will help him calm down."

Kouga didn't know what was going on but he trusted Kagome. "Fine." He released his hold. "Sorry about that brat. Dogshit here doesn't like me."

She felt his arms leave her and she backed up. That was just as bad to her. If Inuyasha hated Kouga, then that was between them. Her life obviously meant nothing to him, for him to still attack Kouga with her in harm's way. He'd even taken out his sword, had he been planning on killing them both with one swing. Kill two birds with one stone. She watched as Kouga took a few steps forward and grabbed Kagome's hands. "Its good to see you again."

Well, there was no doubt in her mind who Kouga had a crush on. She almost felt like laughing. Instead while everyone was preoccupied she took flight.

Kagome saw her wings appear and then she was off. She yelled after the girl. "Wait, you can't leave. Leiko wait."

Kouga turned and started yelling. "Get your boney ass back here Raggie. Dammit, I'm going to kick your ass."

"Raggie?" Kagome glanced at him.

"Oh, when she was little her hair used to have a lot of curl to it. She was quiet the little hellion, her hair was usually all over the place. I slapped her with the nickname." He explained.

"So you knew her as a child." Kagome stated. "That explains a few things, we wondered why you would run after her like that. But wait why were you on top of her?"

"Huh," he suddenly remembered tickling her before Inuyasha rudely interrupted. "Oh, I was tickling her. She hates it, always was ticklish."

Kagome smiled, relieved.

"Why the fuck did dogshit attack us?" he asked.

"Wait till I get out this fucking hole." Inuyasha growled. He was still going to kill the wolf for having his hands all over her. He felt the magic wearing off and jumped up.

Kagome stepped in front of Kouga. "Don't make me say it. Kouga wasn't hurting her so calm down dammit. You never got this jealous over me." She shouted.

Inuyasha blinked his anger disappearing. "What the hell are you talking about?" He folded his arms in front of him.

To prove her point she looked down to where one of Kouga's hands was still holding hers. Several seconds passed before Inuyasha remembered to yell at Kouga for touching her. "Spare us. Don't be such an idiot."

"Inuyasha look." Miroku pointed to the west. "Naraku's Siamyoushou." A large swarm was heading in the same direction the girl had just taken.

"Thats right, he knows Leiko is alive. They're going after her." Kagome began to worry.

"Hmph. I doubt it. He has no reason to go after her, she doesn't have any jewel shards." Inuyasha stated.

Miroku suddenly put two and two together and came back with five. "Kagome is Naraku after her for the reason I believe?"

She bowed her head. "Yes."

"What the hell are you two babbling about?"

"Think about it Inuyasha. When she was first brought back, we heard Byukuya state that he was told by Naraku to bring the girl back with him. He also said on the cliff, 'Seemed she prefered death over me.' He had obviously came then for her. Leaves one to wonder how many other times he has tried to fetch her. A man need only to open his eyes to see why Naraku would want her."

"I don't believe that." It couldn't be true.

"Its true. I'm not sure how many times he's tried to get her but he stated the reason himself in front of me that day. He desires her. His exact words were, 'Now that I have rid myself of my human heart that desired Kikyo, I am free to find my own desires and I find that I desire you greatly.' He asked her to join him, to take her place at his side. But she refused." That said she waited for Inuyasha's outburst.

"Dammit, why didn't you say anything sooner. All this time she's been running of all by herself."

"She didn't want me to say anything, so I didn't dammit. Don't yell at me. Stop being an ass and lets go get her."
