Kit regained consciousness to find Miroku and Sango digging him out of the wreckage.
“Are you all right?” Sango asked.
“Everything seems in place,” Kit said standing up. “Inuyasha has gone…” He froze; standing behind them looking worried was Yuriko.
“Yuriko,” Kit said softly and bowed his head unable to look at her.
“What about Inuyasha?” Sango asked anxiously.
“He’s gone mad,” Kit said staring at Sango to avoid meeting Yuriko’s eyes again. “I think he means to attack Kagome.”

Their search for the Hanyou was short as a few moments a loud shriek was heard from in the house followed by loud yelling, “SIT, SIT, SIT, SIT…”
They found Inuyasha face buried in the broken floorboards of Kagome’s room and working deeper has Kagome curled on her bed saying SIT over and over again. Sango rushed over and grabbed Kagome.
“Kagome, you have to stop!” she yelled at the distressed teen.
Kagome stopped yelling and looked into Sango’s eyes then sobbing threw her arms around the Demon Exterminator.
“Sango! He tried…” She started but couldn’t finish. Her torn dress and scratched cheek made it plain that Inuyasha had grabbed her from behind and tried to prevent her from talking. The bright red bite mark on Inuyasha’s hand testified to why he failed.

“Ow, Shit!” Inuyasha extracted himself from the hole rubbing his neck. Then suddenly as he recalled what had happened he turned towards the bed.
“Kagome, I’m sorr…” This was as far as he got, as soon as he started towards the bed Kagome shrieked and yelled, “SIT!”
Inuyasha’s face waxed the floor again.

“Kagome,” Kit said approaching the bed. “It’s not Inuyasha’s fault, he was possessed by an evil spirit. I saw it myself, he couldn’t control himself.”
“It was like when the Dark Priestess possessed you and tried to make you kill Inuyasha,” Sango said comforting her.

“Kagome,” Inuyasha said this time staying down and bowing his head to the floor. “I’m sorry, I was filled with the most evil desires and I couldn’t stop myself.”
Kagome cried for a few moments as she took this information in, then in an obvious effort at forgiveness and understanding reached out and hugged Inuyasha as she cried into his shoulder.
Sango gave them a little space but stayed close as she motioned the other to leave.

“Kit, can you tell me what happened between you and Inuyasha?” Miroku asked as they came down into the common room.
Kit looked nervous for a moment and then turned to Yuriko, took her in his arms and kissed her lightly.
“Could you go check and see if Hanako is ok?” He asked her.
She nodded and left with a bow. Kit could tell she was upset by his behavior this evening but his own guilt couldn’t let him comfort her just yet. Not until he could manage to comfort himself.

He turned back to Miroku
“Sorry, I needed speak without Yuriko and the others hearing. I need time before I can discuss this with Yuriko.”
“I see, go ahead.”
“I guess I should tell you up front, I’ve had many lovers in my life. Not all of them were female.” Kit said with an emphasis on the last.

Miroku seemed to react to this favorably, at least as far as Kit could tell through the monkey features.
“I suspect you heard Yuriko and me earlier this evening.” Kit said.
Miroku smiled, “it was rather difficult not to.”
“I came out on the upstairs balcony later and noticed Inuyasha in that tree. I figured he had gone there to get away from the noise. I was standing there feeling a little sorry for him when I was overcome by the most evil desire. I jumped over to the tree and I…” Kit paused a moment and his ears flattened against his head, “tried to seduce him.”
“You were both possessed though so it is not like you did what you did deliberately.”
“You don’t understand I have a life mate. We aren’t like humans; we never seek other mates while a life mate lives, its one of the worst sins imaginable.”
Miroku didn’t know how to address this guilt. Unfortunately the only other canine hanyou he could ask was involved in the whole mess.
“What happened next?” Miroku asked.
“He struck me on the head and that’s when I came back to my senses. I tried to explain myself when I saw a spirit enter him and possess him. Then he tried to kill me.”

“You said you saw this spirit?” Miroku asked.
“Yes, it took the form of a ball with arms, legs and horns on its head. Oh and it wore some sort of skin loincloth.”
Kit and Miroku both knew that a disembodied spirit like this didn’t actually wear anything. Its appearance was based on what the spirit itself felt it looked like or what it wanted to appear as.
“I had a similar experience” Miroku said. “When I awoke I was filled with the most evil desires that led me to place my hands on Sango in the most inappropriate ways.”

“You mean other than the than the usual inappropriate ways you put your hands on her?” Inuyasha said coming back into the room with Sango. Miroku sweat dropped.
Inuyasha walked straight over to Kit.
“Speaking of perverts, you put your hands on me!” Inuyasha said angrily.
“So!” Kit shot back. “You tried to kill me, AGAIN!”
“That wasn’t my fault; I was possessed!”
“So was I!”
“Well yeah but at least I didn’t try to grope you!”
“No you just tried to rape Kagome!”
“Well…that’s different!”
“How?”
“It just is, OK! Kagome is not a guy!”
“Well pardon me for thinking you’re cute!”
“I am not cute!”
“You’re right; I can’t imagine how I could ever find you attractive!”
“FUCK YOU!” Inuyasha yelled raising his fist.

“INUYASHA!” Kagome yelled entering the room after changing into spare clothes from her pack.
Inuyasha froze and his ears dropped.
“Don’t make me say it,” Kagome warned and Inuyasha backed away from Kit with a Feh.
Kit got a smug look on his face.
“And you Kit, unless you want me put another rosary of my own on you, you’ll behave yourself.”
Kit’s ears flattened as he ducked his head in apology.

“Especially if you ever me to take the first one,” Yuriko said coming back into the room. If anything Kit’s ears threatened to dig a hole in his head.
‘How much did she hear?’ he worried. He would have to find time to be alone with her and discuss the situation soon. But first he had to master his own guilt over it.

They continued comparing notes, fortunately avoiding further discussion of Kit’s incident with Inuyasha.
“This spirit is possessing people and making them act out their most evil desires. But what does it want?” Sango asked.
“I think I can answer that,” Miroku said. “I think the spirit is Yamanasu. While I was knocked out, I could feel his presence and sense his thoughts. He felt trapped; I think that may be why he is fleeing people when they are struck. I think he doesn’t want to get trapped in a helpless body.”
“If you could sense his thoughts, what is he after?” Inuyasha said.
“Revenge for the most part but he is weak without a body of his own. Remember he said he feeds on evil. He is driving people to do evil things to give him the energy he needs to regenerate his body.”
“How can he do that?” Kagome asked.

Kit suddenly remembered conversations he had with Shippo’s friend Kurama.
“I once met a Kitsune that was forced into his spirit form in much the same way,” he said. “He will possess bodies as needed until he is powerful enough and then he will regenerate his body using the body of the person he currently possesses.”
“That’s horrible,” Shippo said. The fox kit had slipped into the room unnoticed some time ago.
“Hey aren’t you supposed to be in bed?” Inuyasha said.
“No, the sun has come up.”

“Look Miroku, I just want to know one thing, how do I kill him,” Inuyasha said.
“I don’t think we can,” Miroku said. “We can’t harm him while he is in spirit form without harming the person he possesses. If he regenerates, he will probably just return to spirit form if we destroy his body again. He may have been telling the truth when he said he was immortal.”
“Feh,” Inuyasha said irritated.
“There may be one thing I can do,” Miroku continued and looked around the room. He found a small wooden counting box and emptied out its contents. “I know a sutra that would let us capture and seal him inside this box.”
“Alright we have a plan,” Inuyasha said more up beat. The hanyou was always happier with something to do.
“We will have to catch him between bodies,” Miroku said.
“And if we can’t?” Sango asked.
“I can’t capture a human body in the box but if he does regenerate the body he inhabits will take on spirit qualities, then it can be captured.”
“Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that,” Kagome said.

“That just leaves one thing,” Inuyasha said. “How do we tell if someone is possessed?”
“When you were possessed Inuyasha a pair of horns appeared on your head.” Kit observed.
“That’s right,” Inuyasha said. “I saw horns on your head too when you were possessed.”
“Hmm, it seems Yamanasu cannot entirely hide his nature in a possessed body.” Miroku said. “I will let the Abbot know to search the town for people with horns acting strangely.”

Reports came in throughout the day of unusual behavior among the townsfolk. While Miroku worked on his spirit trap, Inuyasha and the others followed the path of mayhem through the village trying to capture the body Yamanasu currently possessed. It lead them to a warehouse where oil and incense for the temple were stored. Flames leapt from the building.

In front, the warehouse keeper stood over the body of his murdered brother laughing. Kit rushed forward and grabbed him by his tunic.
“That is him,” he said to Inuyasha pointing out the horns on the man’s head.
The man stopped laughing and looked at Inuyasha.
The man laughed and then suddenly his expression went blank and Yamanasu’s spirit form lifted out of his head.
“He can leave a body whenever he wants,” Kagome said.
“What happened?” The man asked and then looked down at his brother’s body. “What…What have I done!”
With a surge of insane strength the man tore out of Kit’s grasp and fled into the burning building. Kit and Inuyasha started after him but just then the large jars of oil burst and the building exploded in a ball of fire flinging everyone to the ground.

The building was totally destroyed.
“Kagome!” Inuyasha yelled looking around. “Where is Kagome?”
Kagome was nowhere in sight and the burning incense were masking her sent to the canines. The group scattered looking for her. Inuyasha turned into an alleyway nearby.
“Sit boy,” Kagome’s voice called sending the Hanyou crashing to the ground.
Leaning over him Kagome, horns gleaming on her head laughed.

Foxfur: I liked the fight over whether Inuyasha is ‘cute’. I wonder what evil desires Kagome got her mind.
