Aftermaths and Farewells

The demons dispersed, the victors came together to assess the situation.
“Shippo” Kurama said indicating the first teenager “this is Yusuke. He is the current Spirit Detective. And his friend is Kuwabara.
“Hey” Yusuke said.
“Hi” Kuwabara added.
“The woman is Master Genkai” Kurama indicated the old woman who had gone over to Kit and Toshiro.

As they watched Genkai examined the fallen shaman and indicated silently to Toshiro that there was nothing to be done. Kit remained oblivious to them both in his grief.
“Dog boy related to the old man?” Yusuke asked.
“Yes” Shippo replied “he was his father.”
“Man that must bite.”
Shippo regarded the Spirit Detective for a moment. He couldn’t decide if the boy’s cold comments were real or part of a mask. He suspected the later though, at least so he hoped.
“How did you know to find us?” Shippo changed the subject.
“Someone cold cocked Botan after you went through the door and followed you.” Yusuke said. “When she woke up she called us.”
“That would have been Momoru” Shippo said with a trace of anger in his voice.
“Yea” Yusuke looked around at the bodies “is he around here?”
Shippo looked over the field.
“No, looks like he has run off.”
“Hurmp, too bad.”

Shippo and the others joined Toshiro and Genkai. Hiei helping Kurama to stand until they found a fallen demon’s pike to use as a crutch.
“We need to build a stretcher to carry home the body” Shippo said.
Toshiro picked up Silver Fang from where Kit had dropped it.
“Do you think he will object if we use his weapon?” He asked.
They looked over at the coyote sitting beside Singer’s body. The tears had gone and he now sat numbly staring and not moving.
“I’m afraid your friend is in no condition to ask” Genkai said. “He won’t be of much use for awhile.”
“I’m sure he wouldn’t object” Shippo said “I’m sure he would even insist on it.”
“Here” Kurama said handing Toshiro his pike. “Use this for the other pole; Hiei will help me find another.”
“We wouldn’t need it if you just got rid of that ridiculous human body” Hiei grumbled as they hobbled off to find another crutch. Kurama just laughed.

While the others finished assembling the litter, Shippo bent down next to Kit and laid his hand on the grieving coyote’s shoulder.
“Kit, it is too dangerous to remain here any longer. We have to take Master Singer home.”
Kit looked at him blankly for moment.
“Yes we should go home” he said at last and allowed Shippo to stand him up as Toshiro and Kuwabara loaded Singer onto the improvised litter.
Slowly the group set out on their sad journey home.

Kit’s withdrawal lasted for the entire journey home into the night. Hiei joked at one point that it would be easier to lead him around if they put a collar and leash on him. The cold stares of his companions encouraged him not to follow up on the point. When they arrived at that portal, they found that another Spirit World guide awaited them. The young man said that Botan had been called away on urgent business.

Upon returning home, Shippo made arrangements for Singer’s body until he could contact the Spirit Peak Elders. Shippo’s clan, like most surviving demon clans, had arrangements in place to handle ‘discrete’ medical and funeral needs. Kit spent the rest of the evening going through routine like nothing had happened. It proved impossible to try to discuss Singer; the coyote manically avoided the subject. Everyone went to bed early.

It was just after 2 AM when a loud crash awoke Shippo. He rubbed his eyes groggily then snapped fully awake at another crash. He heard a shouted voice and one word was clear.
“…Momoru…!”
Shippo leapt from his bead and threw on a kimono before rushing into the common room. Toshiro came running out his room dressed in sleep pants and carrying his katana.
“What’s happening?” he asked.
“Momoru is back” Shippo said.
There was another crash from the stairs leading to basement.
“Momoru you bastard! I’ll kill you!”
“That was Kit” Shippo said and they rushed down the stairs. They hit the gym door at a run and were thrown back. They drove their shoulders into the door but it wouldn’t budge.
On the other side they could hear more crashing and Kit screaming death threats at the top of his lungs.
“Is it a barrier?” Toshiro wondered.
“I don’t know” Shippo said “stand back.”
“Foxfire!” Shippo yelled as he blasted the door with magical flame. The door shattered and burned away. The reason for it not opening became clear as they found Toshiro’s multi-station weight machine, all 1000 pounds of it, smashed against the door frame like so much metal scrap. They pushed through the wreckage to enter the gym just as the refrigerator from the coffee/juice bar came flying past to smash the full length mirror on the wall.
The gym was literally destroyed, every piece of equipment, mats and decorations were smashed. Shippo was glad for the spell reinforcement on the walls and beams to protect them during ki enhanced training, without them he was certain the whole house would have collapsed. In the middle of it all stood Kit wearing only a pair of boxers ripping the insides of the punching bag apart with his claws, still screaming bloody murder and death threats at Momoru.

“Is it the blood fever?” Toshiro asked referring to the homicidal madness that sometimes gripped hanyous when their demon side got out of control.
Shippo looked at Kit. His spirit aura flared with anger but it was different from the hanyous he had seen with the madness. Shippo looked at the coyote’s eyes, they were free of red and tears streamed from them.
“No,” Shippo said “his emotions have just caught up with him.”
The elder Kitsune stepped forward.
“Be careful” Toshiro cautioned.
“He won’t harm me” Shippo said.

The punching bag was pretty much dead by the time Shippo crossed the room. Kit threw its ragged carcass to the ground just as Shippo grabbed him by the upper arms.
“Kit stop it now.”
Kit struggled against the grip.
“No let me go! I’m going to kill him!”
Shippo slapped Kit hard across the face. Blood formed on Kit’s lip where his fang had cut it.
Kit stopped struggling and looked around seeing the destruction he had caused.
“Shippo” he said at last and flung his arms around the Kitsune, clinging to him like a drowning man might cling to a log in storm tossed sea.
Shippo felt the anger draining away to be replaced with a new flood. Sobs racked Kit’s body as his tears stained Shippo’s kimono. Toshiro rummaged through the remains of the locker and found an intact gi. He draped the training garment over the coyote’s bare shoulders. Toshiro nodded in acknowledgement of the thanks in Shippo’s eyes as well as the silent plea for privacy and went back upstairs to make coffee.

The sobs settled down and the tears stopped as Shippo cradled the coyote in his arms.
“It’s all my fault” Kit said at last.
“No it isn’t”
“Yes it was, you were there to rescue me and I led you into a trap. He was an old man and when he needed me most I couldn’t save him.”
“You can’t blame yourself Kit. None of us knew what was in the well and we all gladly risked our lives to save you just as I know you would do the same for us. When Momoru struck there was nothing you could have done, if you had stopped playing the barrier would have been breached and Singer would have died for nothing.”
“I should have been able to do something.”
“Trust me Kit there was nothing you could have done. I understand you loved him and he loved you. He truly cared for you like a father and I’m sure if he could tell you, he would say that he gladly gave his life to save you.”

Kit sat quietly for a moment considering Shippo’s words but he couldn’t fully convince himself that there was nothing he could have done. He thought of Singer and the tears came once again.

Shippo held and comforted Kit until the adrenaline and energy from Kit’s emotional outburst began to wane and the coyote feel into an exhausted sleep. Shippo picked him up and carried him back to his bed.
“Shippo” Kit said as the Kitsune made to leave the room “I don’t want to be alone.”
Shippo nodded and taking off his kimono slipped into bed with Kit.
“It’s ok, I’m here with you” he said and they soon fell asleep in each other’s arms.

-
Floating over the house Botan and Singer sat astride her paddle. Singer’s spirit form appeared as the young man he was years ago, dark haired full of vitality.
“That Shippo is a good man, er fox” Botan said.
“Yes I’m glad to know that Kit has someone to help him through this.”
“Oh yes I agree but I’m afraid we must go now” Botan said “I’ve stretched the rules a bit because I know you were worried about Kit but….”
“Yes I know” Singer said “I wouldn’t want you to get in anymore trouble over my account. I want to thank you for letting me stay this long.”
“Oh no problem, it was my pleasure. Hold on.”
The paddle lifted them higher and higher until the city was lost in the clouds. Singer’s spirit senses, sharper now that he was a spirit himself, felt them cross into the Spirit World.

Spirit Singer felt that he had entered a version of hell created by bureaucrats. The room Botan led him through was filled with ogres shuffling thousands of papers between hundreds of desks. At last she brought him into a large office. Sitting behind a large desk with stacks of paper lining both ends sat a child, the letters ‘Jr.’ on his head and pacifier in his mouth. A blue skinned ogre in a leopard loincloth was speaking to him.
“But Lord Koenma sir the paperwork is backing up” the ogre was saying.
“Not now Ogre, this is more important” Koenma said the pacifier seemly not affecting his ability to speak clearly at all.

Koenma stood and came around the desk to shake Singer’s hand.
“Master Spirit Singer I wanted to greet you personally and express my regrets over the business with the Queen of Shadows. It was unfortunate that I could not have been of more assistance in the matter.”
“We felt that if we involved you, you would have stopped us from acting” Singer said.
“Unfortunately you would have been right but I understand the desire to rescue your Kit Coyote. Since you managed that without releasing the Queen and lost your life in the process, we feel that there is no need for retribution on the part of Spirit World in this matter.”
“You are too kind” Singer said coolly.
“Well” Koenma continued “now that the pleasantries are over we need to get to the matter of settling you into the afterlife.”
“I know little of your beliefs” Singer said. “I do not know what is expected of me here.”
“No need to worry about that. In accordance with the Asgard summit on human souls, your case will be turned over to the proper jurisdiction. A representative of the Great Spirit is here to meet you now.”

“Spirit Singer” a voice behind him said and Singer turned to see a figure he had only seen before in dream quests.
“Lord Coyote” Singer said bowing. Coyote appeared as an anthropomorphic coyote that walked upright on two legs and had human shaped hands but otherwise was all coyote.
“When I heard you were coming” he said “I insisted on coming and meeting you personally. I wanted to thank you for taking care of Kit for me.”
“It was an honor” Singer said “I came to love him as the son I never had.”
“Yes I know but come and we will begin our journey. I would like you to tell me about Kit. I have observed his life but I would like to hear of it from your viewpoint, one father to another.”
Coyote put his arm around Singer’s shoulder and together they walked out of Koenma’s office.

-
Kit awoke in the early morning hours. The sky was just beginning to lighten outside the window. He lay on his side with his head on Shippo’s shoulder and his right leg entangled with the fox’s left one. Shippo was sleeping soundly his chest slowly rising and falling under Kit’s right arm. He felt the sadness rise as he remembered last night but somehow lying here in Shippo’s arms helped to keep it at bay.
He allowed his hand to roam down the leaned muscled chest of his older lover, under the sheet, pausing briefly where the fox fur started at the waistline and then down the right side. Kit skimmed his hand through the fur on Shippo’s thigh enjoying the feeling of it. Before meeting Shippo, all Kit’s lovers had been humans or elves, mostly women but a few male lovers too. He had met other animal spirits, even a Kitsune named FX but he had never shared his bed with them.
His hand’s exploration reached Shippo’s inner thigh and the Kitsune stirred slightly in his sleep. His attention to the feel of Shippo’s fur stirred a response from his member as the fur rubbed against it. As it started to harden in response, Kit’s hip flexed seeking more contact.
His hand moved further up to caress the lightly furred balls just beneath the surprisingly human like penis. A sigh escaped Shippo’s lips as his manhood started to swell in reaction to Kit’s attentions.
Kit’s hip had started a slow rhythm sliding himself against Shippo’s thigh. He felt Shippo stir under him and the fox’s right leg pressed against him.
Rising on his elbow, Kit leaned over the sleeping fox to kiss and lick at the growing manhood, Shippo’s cock twitched in response to the attention. A moan escaped the sleeping Kitsune as Kit’s mouth enveloped him. Kit moaned around the hardness in his mouth as the fox began instinctively flexing his hips upward.
The feel of Shippo’s hand rubbing Kit’s ear, his second most sensitive spot, told Kit that the fox was awake. He moved his hand slightly to lightly tickle the sensitive bare spot under Shippo’s balls with his claws. The Kitsune groaned in response and wrapped his hands into Kit’s hair as his whole body stiffened and arched upward. With a loud groan, the fox’s seed burst forth into the coyote’s waiting mouth filling it faster than Kit could swallow.
Shippo remained arched off the bed as the coyote sucked him dry, his grunts and groans of pleasure echoing off the walls. At last he collapsed and Kit climbed up his body to kiss him and share the last taste of Shippo’s own spunk with him. As they kissed, Kit’s hand began preparing Shippo to receive him.
Shippo moaned pleasurably as Kit slid over him and raising his legs entered the fox. Kit quickly set a rapid pace driven by desire and need that soon had the two of them covered in sweat and groaning aloud. Kit was rapidly approaching his climax when he felt Shippo’s tail lift between his legs and become entangled with his own. The movement of the two had Shippo’s tail fur tickling Kit’s balls. The sensation pushed Kit over the edge and with a loud cry he emptied himself into Shippo’s trembling body. Shippo followed a moment later scattering his seed across their stomachs.

A short while later, Kit lay with his arms around Shippo resting his head on the fox’s chest.
“Shippo” he said quietly.
“Yes”
“I don’t know what to do without him. All my life he has been there and now…. I know I’ll always have a place at Spirit Peak but I don’t think I can go back there now.”
“Singer died fulfilling my great task to ensure the future and past for Inuyasha” Shippo said. “I am forever in your debt; you are a member of my clan now, so no matter what you plan to do, you will always have a home here.”
“Hmm, I think after everything is settled in Colorado I may just take you up on that.”
And with that Kit snuggled closer to the comforting warmth of his lover as sleep claimed him again.

The End (for now)
