Prompt Summary: Jakotsu takes a step toward a new life.

Once he was sure everyone had retired to their beds and wouldn't disturb him, Jakotsu made his way into the now empty saloon to make a pot of coffee; already imagining how the next step of his plan would go. So caught up in his own thoughts, Jakotsu didn't even bat an eye when the barkeep appeared in the doorway that lead into the kitchen; shirtless with his suspenders hanging down over his hips, hair disheveled from sleep and scruffy beard in desperate need of a shave.

He looked down right inviting and at any other moment in his life, Jakotsu would have been captivated, but at that moment another man completely filled his thoughts. Had the barkeep realized that was the last opportunity he would have to be ogled by the cross dressing saloon 'girl' he might have felt jilted to not end things as they had begun, but as he had no way of knowing that, he only felt relieved to not have to deal with it after being woken up in the middle of the night.

“Just thought the boys over at the jail could use a little perk up,” Jakotsu gave as his explanation, making a point to put many more mugs on the tray than he was sure he would need. No doubt only a deputy, hopefully the one from earlier since he was already interested in what he thought Jakotsu had to offer, and the prisoner was still there this late at night. Noticing the slight sparkling to his eyes and believing it was directed toward one of the lawmen, the barkeep merely rolled his eyes before heading back to bed with an audible yawn.

Once he had finished gathering everything he wanted to bring with him, which ended up being very little as, much like with Bankotsu, Jakotsu had very little to his name, he quietly made his way out of the saloon for the last time; careful not to wake anyone. It did not take long for him to cover the short distance to the sheriff's office; even with having to move slower than normal to make sure he didn't spill the hot coffee.

Even before he arrived at his destination, Jakotsu knew that his earlier assumption about the occupants of the building had been correct. If not with the exact lawman, then at least with the numbers. The jailhouse was far too quiet and uninviting for there to be anyone for the on duty deputy to speak to other than the prisoner. Steeling himself for what he would have to do, what essentially was his job, Jakotsu took a deep breath before stepping inside and saying goodbye to the small, pitiful life he had built there.
