Chapter 17
Chapter 17:
Inutaisha swept her hair out of her eyes as she walked behind Kagoru. For some reason she felt very unsteady with everyone traveling to find their enemies. Taking off her haori she put it over Kagoru's shoulders. "What is it Inutaisha?" He asked her.
"I don't know. This place makes me feel uneasy." She replied then looked around.
"Do you sense something?" He asked as he drew out his bow.
"No. Don't worry. I guess it is my nerves."
Kagoru nodded at her then continued walking ahead though Inutaisha kept her hands on his shoulders while sniffing the air to determine if their enemies were near. Kagoru gently touched her hand. "Inutaisha don't worry."
"I'm not." She replied then grasped his shoulders tighter as Kimi walked a bit to close for her comfort. "Just so you know, i'm never allowing you around her again."
"Inutaisha. You worry too much."
"I do not. Besides I have to right to keep you away from her." Inutaisha replied then noticed the sun beginning to set. "Well I think we should settle down for the night." She announced.
"I believe that would be a good idea." Mirra agreed as the group came to a stop.
Inutaisha pulled Kagoru along with her as they found a place beneath a large cherry blossom tree and sat down. "What's the matter?" He asked as the others built a fire and began to prepare to fix dinner.
"You need to be really careful Kagoru. I don't know why Kimi has been so silent but I think she is going to plan something."
Kagoru huffed. "Inutaisha, you seriously need to stop worrying. I mean it. I'm not going to get taken away. I love you remember." Inutaisha smiled at her mate then kissed his lips forcefully, her fangs rubbed against his lips. "Another power display?"
"You got it buddy." She said as she leaned her head against the trunk of the tree.
"Female demons and their display of power. I knew I was in big trouble when I got hooked up with you." He said jokingly.
Inutaisha laughed softly then gently kissed him again. "You are too cute for words."
"Should we go help?"
"Nah. I'm staying right here where I can keep a watchful eye on you. Tomorrow i'll make up for it."
He leaned his head against her shoulder. Inutaisha smiled at him then watched the growing fire as she thought about all the things she had yet to do.
