Chapter 15
“She sure faints a lot, doesn’t she Kagome?” InuYasha said on their way back to the village.
“Yes she does.” Kagome walked along with InuYasha and Sango. Kuwabara was atop of Kilala with the passed out Shizuka. That is when Kagome remembered something. “InuYasha… Hotaru still had on the necklace with the four jewel shards…”
InuYasha had stopped along with the rest of them. They had forgotten all about them with the arrival of the Yu yu gang and Hotaru’s kidnapping. InuYasha growled under his breath and Kagome walked over to him despite Shippo’s trembles and pleas for her not to. He jumped out of her arms as she was with in reach to him.
“InuYasha …breathe…” InuYasha looked up into her eyes. She kept a calm face and a steady hand. After all this time traveling with him she had learned that he would never hurt her. The only time he did he was not in his right mind. She smiled at him. “We will get them. I promise.” InuYasha only blinked and straightened up while looking at her. He was a half a foot taller than her but still he couldn’t look away from her eyes until her heard Kuwabara talk in a loud whisper.
“Are they dating?” InuYasha had a vein pop up on his forehead. It grew bigger when Sango whispered back.
“The two fight like cats and dogs.” They both laugh at her comment until they hear InuYasha growl.
“Just ignore them InuYasha” she smiled at him “Come on we need to get Shizuka back to the inn.” She smiled and started to walk again leaving InuYasha to follow her. He seemed to notice something then. It had been almost 3 months since she had ‘sat’ him. She seemed to be a little more patient with him and now tried to talk him out of his anger than just yell and sit him. Why was she doing this? What was she up to?
Shizuka was asleep the entire ride back to the inn where they saw Kurama tapping his foot and pacing. Seeing them he ran to see her passed out.
“SHIZUKA! WHAT HAPPENED?”
“She passed out” Kagome said as she glanced over InuYasha catching his eye. He smiled at her. Shippo jumped into Kagome's arms missing the woman who was like his second mother. Kurama picked up the limp body of Shizuka. She was breathing and that was a good thing. Kurama went to bring her to her room but InuYasha stopped him.
“She can rest on Kilala… we have to get moving… the more we wait the more of a chance we won’t find Hotaru… alive.” He didn’t want to say that last part but he had to. “You can tell us of your findings as we walk… Hiei and Yusuke can find us can’t they?”
Kurama nodded and when Kilala came close to take back Shizuka Kurama got uneasy.
“You can ride Kilala with her.” Sango said. Kurama nodded and Kuwabara got off allowing Kurama to board.
Kuwabara looked up at his friend who was looking over the woman’s body with a look of sorrow and guilt. Kagome saw he had on the same look but wondered if he knew what she now knew… she is the daughter of the messenger of the Goddess Itari… She would talk with him later.
“Kurama are you going to be ok, buddy?” Kuwabara asked.
“I will if she will be Kuwabara… Do not worry about me.”
“Hey Kurama” InuYasha asked hoping that maybe changing the subject will help a little.
“Yes InuYasha?”
“Any word from Hiei and Yusuke?”
“Let me check.” He became silent for a while looking off in the distance. After a few intense minutes he came back. “They have reached a village about 4 walking days away northwest from here that has information about Naraku… They will wait for us there.” The group silently agreed to go and keep a faster than walking pace to go.
