Confessions

Confessions

Kagome was waiting in the car trying to be patient. Shuichi had been gone for over ten minutes leaving her to sit in the hot car. He'd taken the keys with him and her luck the windows were electrical. She'd seen a few people go in the apartment. It was one of those apartments where each was seperated. No going inside a building. The front door was left open for anyone to walk in, she'd seen the guy Keiko had been with walk in with a shorter guy with black spiky hair. Kagome felt her powers flare at seeing him. She was beginning to get agitated and got out the car.

He had forgotten she was sitting out in the heat waiting on him. Besides it was just his friends, it should be okay if she walked up to remind him. She crossed the small yard and stopped when she heard him swear.

"Are you sure Hiei?"

"Yes, there is no mistaking what we heard. Whether the rumors are true, is yet to be seen. I say we wait and see what happens. They might not come."

"True, but I'm afraid I have made many enemies in my life." Was he in some kind of trouble? Kagome held her breath and listened. "My years as Youko have left many seeking revenge."

Kagome felt her heart drop, what did he just say? Did he just say he was Youko? She continued to listen hoping she'd heard wrong.

The boy Yusuke spoke, "Well, I guess you'll think about it next time before you go stealing shit. How much shit did you and Koronue steal from this guy anyways?"

NO! Her heart stopped. How? He appeared human but it was him. He was still alive. Hurt filled her at the knowledge. He had to have known it was her. She still had his mark, he had to know. Yet he had pretended not to know her. He'd been dating her all this time, touching her, acting like he cared. Tears streamed down her checks and anger replaced her sorrow. He'd been decieving her all this time. Then she remembered, he had wanted to go back to his place. He'd been planning on sleeping with her. Without realizing it her aura started to flare as the anger consumed her.

Keiko looked up to see that Hiei still didn't know how to shut a door. She stopped when she looked out to see the girl standing there. "Kagome?"

Kurama heard Keiko and gasped at the name passing her lips. He'd forgotten that she'd been waiting for him. He stood up and ran to the door. He could feel her aura rising, "Kagome?"

She looked up at him, anger blazing in her eyes.

He calmly walked towards her as the others filled the doorway. Hiei and Yusuke had both felt the aura rising outside. They were suprised to find it coming from the small girl. He mentally cursed himself when he knew that she'd been listening long enough to know who he was. "So you know." He was standing in front of her showing no emotions.

She looked up in his eyes. Those beautiful green eyes that had been wooing her, making her believe that he actually gave a damn. He stood there acting like they were discussing the weather. Her fist swung out connecting with his jaw knocking him back. She felt immense joy when she looked at him grabbing his jaw, a small section was smoking. Her powers had tried to purify him. So he wasn't really human, his youkai was there somewhere. "You bastard. You have been lying to me all this time. What game were you playing?"

His hand struck out slapping her hard across the face shocking them all. "Don't ever strike me again or I'll kill you." His voice was cold as he spoke. " I should kill you anyway. You deserve nothing less."

"Fuck you, I wasn't the one pretending to be someone I'm not."

"I have played at nothing. I was just trying to partake in what you seem to offer so freely to any male that shows interest. How many men has there been since Koronue?"

She didn't care about his threat, she attacked him. Her hand came down across his face, her nails raking across his cheek. He fought back, his anger made him forget she was only a human female. He hit her in the ribs with his elbow pushing her away from him. Kagome felt her ribs crack at the impact, yet she still tried to hit him. Yusuke grabbed Kurama pulling him away from the girl. He didn't care if the girl was hitting him or not.

"Kurama, stop dammit."

Hiei jumped in between the two grabbing the girl by the arms. Kurama was trying to break free of the detective, they were scared he actually meant to kill the girl. The fox glared at the girl, "I'm glad Koronue died before finding out what you were."

She felt her heart break at the news. "What?"

"Don't act suprised, you were the one that killed him. You and that stupid fucking pendant, I should have thrown it in the trash the day he left you standing at that camp. You're nothing but a whore."

Kagome didn't know what to say. Koronue was dead. How was it her fault? Yet why would Youko hate her so much if it wasn't true. The pendant had somehow led to his death. She didn't say anything, what could she say. Youko hated her, had been decieving her and she had begun to fall in love with him. Koronue was dead. Kagome felt herself being lifted into someone's arms.

"Don't touch her Hiei, everyone that does dies." Kurama watched his best friend leap off with the girl in his arms.

Kagome couldn't hold the tears any longer, she let them fall as the small demon carried her away. Hiei had a feeling of where she lived so he took her to the shrine. As he carried her, she began to understand why Youko hated her. He found her guilty of causing Koronue's death. She wasn't sure how it had come about. If only there was something she could do to change the past but the well was sealed forever. There was no longer any going back. If only she hadn't given him that half of the pendant.

Her eyes flew up at the thought. He'd had the pendant on him, he'd kept it. It didn't matter to her why, but he had it when he died. She suddenly remembered what the woman had told her. Maybe there was a chance he wasn't dead. But he'd only had half so it couldn't have worked. 'The man said something about being sucked inside the stone then being sent back out where it was safe.' Was there a chance that it had been able to do one but not the other. There was one way to find out.

"Whats your name?"

"Hiei."

"I know you don't know me but can I ask you something?"

He merely looked down at her.

"Do you know where Koronue supposedly died?"

"Somewhat, why?"

"I'm merely speculating but there's a chance he isn't dead. I know it sounds strange but I'm being honest. The pendant was half of a soul stone, I have the other half. There might be a chance it tried to save him. A very small chance at that. I'm not even sure if its possible but if theres a chance, I have to find out."

"You have the other half of this stone? What do you plan on doing?"

"Well, I have to ask for your help." She looked up at him. "I know you will being going out on a limb trusting me about this. Don't do it for me do it for him."

Hiei could smell that she believed what she said. Was there a chance the fox's old friend could be brought back? Was he truly dead? "Fine, where is the half at?"

"It's in my room."
