New Beginnings
The jewel slipped from his body slowly losing its powers its fate has been fulfilled. InuYasha looked at his body. He was still a half demon, he didn’t revert to a human as he thought he would, nor did he turn into a full fledge demon like he wanted to. But none of that mattered anymore.
The dark clouds that hung in the air began to rain on him. He looked again at his friends, his brother and walked over to the only love he’s ever known to be true. He held her in his embrace as he kissed her hair. Tears slid down his face.
“We did it Kagome, Naraku is gone forever.”
“Well, if I didn’t know any better I would say that you truly love her.”
InuYasha looked up with startled surprise.
“Koga? How?”
Koga squatted next to InuYasha and lightly touched Kagome’s hair.
“You know, her scent smells good on you. It makes you smell better.”
InuYasha began to growl.
“Answer my question Koga, how did you come back to life?”
Koga smiled as he reflected on his second chance.
“Believe it or not Kagura came back for me. She carried me to your brother who has the reputation of being able to bring the vitality back to the dead. Apparently, news got around that he has a sword that can bring back those who’ve died. Anyway, she nursed me back to health and saved my life. She gave me a second chance.”
Shippo bounded up wide eyed at seeing Koga standing before InuYasha.
“InuYasha, maybe if you use your brother’s sword you can bring back your friends.”
InuYasha looked up at Koga dense still unbelieving. ‘Will it work for me?’
InuYasha decided to use it on his brother first. Koga helped him to get the body together so that InuYasha could do what he thought he should do. He removed the sword from the sheath and looked at Sesshomaru. All of a sudden he saw them; he saw the death goblins around his brother.
“Get away from him you nasty rodents!”
He swung the blade down on them and they vanished. Next thing he noticed to his surprise was that Sesshomaru opened his eyes and smile weakly at his brother.
“You’ve defeated Naraku little brother…good.”
Then without turning his head he looked at Koga.
“I see you’ve managed to get here in time to tell Inuyasha about your resurrection.”
“Humph, I no longer have the gift of great speed so; I must travel at the rate of a normal wolf demon.”
InuYasha was overjoyed that the sword worked for him; however, he asked his brother if he can continue to use it to revive those he loved.
“Yes, but start with those who’ve died first InuYasha.”
InuYasha shook his head in understanding. “Thank you Sesshomaru.” He bounded around the battle scene and roused Miroku, Sango and Kohaku. Sango opened her eyes and looked at Miroku.
“Hello again.” Miroku said with a weak smile, Sango cried. Then she turned toward a very familiar voice. One she thought would never ring in her ears again.
“Sango?”
At the sound of his voice Sango’s eyes became littered with fresh tears as a sob tore from her throat. Her brother Kohaku was alive. Even Kilala purred up against his leg. In shock of happiness Sango sat speechless. Miroku put an arm about her and pulled her into an embrace. The three of them in disbelief looked at each other and back at InuYasha.
Miroku then pulled the rosary off his hand and removed the glove slowly.
“My wind tunnel…it’s gone!”
Miroku pulled Sango into an embrace and kissed her. InuYasha went to Kaede and Kagome. He swiped the goblins away from Kaede and she opened her eyes. She witnessed InuYasha bringing Kagome back. When he did, his heart stopped. He stopped breathing waiting to see her exhale and open her eyes. He waited to see the life return to her.
“Inu…Yasha?”
“Kagome…Kagome!”
InuYasha dropped the sword and knelt beside his woman, his wife, his heart. Kissing her he sobbed into her hair.
“Don’t ever leave me again like that Kagome, please I love you.”
“I love you too InuYasha, I’m sorry I made you worry, I’m sorry for…” but she couldn’t finish the sentence.
InuYasha looked at Kagome again. He was still shaking from the loss of her. She was never allowed to go anywhere without him again. Never again when there is danger. Miroku, Sango and Kilala ran up to InuYasha and Kagome. Together they cried their joy of victory. Koga and Sesshomaru came closer to the group. Sesshomaru felt uneasy being in close proximity to everyone so he just stayed quiet and watched.
“InuYasha, I am sorry to have to interrupt you.”
“Koga?!” Kagome shouted. “How…you were…”
“I will let InuYasha tell you how.” He smiled at her. “I’m glad that you are alright Kagome and thank you for your kindness to me.”
Koga then motioned InuYasha to follow. InuYasha did just so. Koga then began to blush.
“I was wondering InuYasha if you could do me a couple of favors?”
“Sure comrade, what else?” InuYasha smiled.
Koga blushed deeper. Koga realized that InuYasha had called him a friend. They were friends now weren’t they? He trusted InuYasha enough to make him lord of his clan, however, if anything were to happen to him, he was going to make it known that InuYasha was to take over if he didn’t have any heirs. InuYasha was becoming increasingly curious.
Passionately Koga began to explain himself.
“Well, could you bring back Kagura? She took care of me. She was just as much victimized by Naraku being that she was his incarnate, made of his essence. She was under his control otherwise she would have been killed. She wanted to be free of him. She gave me a second chance; I just want to repay the kindness.”
InuYasha looked at the wolf. His smile broadened.
“You didn’t by chance profess your love for Kagura like you did Kagome did you?”
Koga looked down twitching his eye.
“Noooo, but, you’ve stolen my woman so now; I need to get another one.”
InuYasha started to laugh. Sesshomaru smiled at the amusement they provided him. He felt a warm sensation in his heart and all of a sudden he felt lonely. Then he pictured Rin. He left her behind to keep her safe. Jakin was to protect her from harm or lose his life trying.
InuYasha walked up to his brother. “Here Sesshomaru you should bring her back now since your healing already.”
Sesshomaru shook his head. “No, it’s your right you defeated Naraku, go help your friends and then give me back my sword.”
InuYasha nodded his head and with Koga and gang he restored Kagura. Kagura opened her eyes as Koga covered her naked flesh with his tunic.
“Koga? Am I free?”
“Yes you are. Naraku has been destroyed.”
Tears sprung forth from her eyes. She looked at the others.
“I’m sorry for the pain I caused you…” she looked pointedly at Sango and Miroku.
“Please forgive my actions, I didn’t want to hurt you, any of you, but I had to make Naraku think that I was still with him. I had to make sure InuYasha had gotten the jewel.”
Kagome knelt down toward Kagura and gave her a hug. Sango couldn’t be as kind, one day she will forgive Kagura but not today. Her death and her pain were still too fresh in her mind to just shake it off and let it run off her like water under a bridge.
Koga picked up Kagura and she looked up at him and smiled brokenly.
“Thank you for freeing me. Thank you all!” And with that she and Koga were picked up by the wind and carried off to his lair where Koga planed to nourish her back to health and try and win her heart.
Sesshomaru retrieved his sword and started to walk off he wanted to find Rin, but before he vanished out of sight he turned one more time to look at his brother surrounded by all of his human companions.
“I am proud of you little brother. Til next time.”
~A year later~
InuYasha and Kagome came through the well with Miroku, and Sango. They had visited Kagome’s era with their children. InuYasha took both babes in his arms and jumped to the top of the well. When he landed he was surprised by his brother.
Sesshomaru looked at his niece and smiled. He took her from InuYasha and spoke softly to her. He was proud of his niece. She was three months old and already he could sense a strong aura within her. Being that she had blood of a priestess and blood of a demon within her she was special, unique, one of a kind. And with both powers she would be a formidable being to tangle with.
“InuYasha, you should bring my niece to me more often.”
With that said he sat down in the grass and allowed Rin to goo and gaa with the baby. Miroku was already up the well and helped Sango up. InuYasha handed him his son and Miroku smiled at his babe with pride while InuYasha helped Kagome out of the well.
Soon Kohaku and Shippo came running to the well to meet them.
“Sister, there are visitors in the village.” Kohaku yelled waving emphatically at Sango. Then smiled at Miroku as he grabbed his nephew from his arms.
“It’s Koga and Kagura.”
Shippo said bouncing onto Rin looking and giggling with the baby who he considered his little sister. Sesshomaru stood up and started walking to the village.
“Uh, are you going to hand my daughter back to me now?”
“No.”
Kagome giggled as she watched InuYasha’s jaw drop in frustration.
“But she’s my daughter! Give her back to me you idiot!”
“InuYasha, let your brother visit with her. It’s not like he sees her all the time.”
Miroku said. InuYasha gave him a black look.
“Mind your business monk.”
They made it to the village and Koga was impressed with the little girl. He sensed her strong aura as well. It made InuYasha puff with pride.
“Humph, imagine if the child was all half demon. She’s a cute puppy though.” He remarked
Then he remembered that Sesshomaru was holding the infant. One look at the aristocrats face let Koga know he needed to step back and watch what he says around him, even if he was joking.
“So, are you two an item now?”
Sango asked referring to Koga and Kagura.
Kagura looked at Sango and smiled.
“No, we are really good friends though. I just want to be free for now.”
However, she looked Longley at Sesshomaru. Then Koga added.
“She’s right, we are good friends. But we both realize that we do not love each other. We learned something about desire and we are still learning how to attain what it is we desire. I actually found out that I am betrothed to another wolf princess, her name is Ayumi. She’s a fox of a wolf.”
He said and whistled. The group laughed. Kagura however walked over to Sesshomaru.
“Are you with any one?”
Sesshomaru continued to speak softly to his neice. When he looked up he noticed that Kagura was by his side. She had a strange look in her eye. It made him blush almost.
Kagome saw the interaction and smiled.
‘I hope that they find happiness one day, maybe to each other.’
Kagome continued to look around and felt a warm fuzzy feeling in her heart. She saw how happy Miroku and Sango were. It filled her heart with happiness to know that the people she cared deeply about were happy. Looking at Sesshomaru with her daughter she realized that Sesshomaru has a soft side to him and that he was loyal. Once they knew why he was upset with InuYasha there was an understanding and InuYasha was able to explain himself.
Then her eyes took in her husband. She remembered how he looked sleeping on the tree pinned to it with a sacred arrow. She remembered all the trials they had been through as well as all the good times. However, she had never seen him this happy before. She smiled.
She walked outside to get some fresh air when she felt a familiar hand on her shoulders.
“Kagome, are you ok?”
“Mmm, I was just thinking about how happy I am that everyone is happy. It’s like a fairy tale ending. A happy ever after.”
“So, are you saying that you are happy Kagome?”
He said pulling her into his embrace.
“I am happy yes, but are you happy InuYasha, did you get everything you desired?”
InuYasha looked down at Kagome and with his golden amber eyes he caressed her. Just the look alone made her shiver with a physical desire.
“I did and more. Thank you Kagome for being patient with me I love you so much.”
And with that they kissed and found themselves again in a private place to show each other exactly how happy they were with one another.

The dark clouds that hung in the air began to rain on him. He looked again at his friends, his brother and walked over to the only love he’s ever known to be true. He held her in his embrace as he kissed her hair. Tears slid down his face.
