A New Path

Back in Kagome’s time…

Kagome and Sesshomaru decided to stay another night before returning to announce the engagement. Sesshomaru remained on the couch in the living room while Kagome slept in her bed. Surprisingly, because she now knew of her demon blood, it was no longer suppressed and she changed during the night. Her sleep was peaceful, and she had no idea that anything had happened until morning.
She got up, and walked into the bathroom to get into the shower. She caught a flash of her face in the mirror, and did a double take. She ran over to the mirror and stared at the new face reflected there. Her hair now had streaks of dark brown in the black. Her brown eyes now had prominent specks of gold, and she had markings on her face like Sesshomaru. She had blue streaks on her cheeks, in the same place as his, and in the middle of her forehead was a half moon with the points pointing down to her eyes, it was golden in color. She opened her mouth in shock, and noticed that her teeth had changed as well. Her canines were more pronounced, and her other teeth were slightly sharper than before. Her eyelids had a pale lavender color to them. She looked down at her hands and noticed that her fingernails were sharper, and her skin was paler. Her body was more womanly, in more of an hourglass shape that showed off her assets. She almost ran to her mother in fear, but rationality returned and she realized that this must be her demon side. She decided to take her shower before thinking about anything else, so that the warm water could clear her thoughts. When she was finished, about half an hour later, she dried her hair without looking in the mirror, then went into her bedroom. She removed the towel from around her and finally looked into her full length mirror. She gasped. Her hair dried into soft curls framing her face. The rest of her body was pretty much the same, except it was more pronounced. Fuller breasts and hips, slimmer waist and slightly longer legs replaced her girlish figure. Instead of looking like a girl, she now resembled a woman. She decided to get dressed in her best kimono, knowing that it was commonplace compared to what Sesshomaru would buy her in the feudal era.
Once was dressed, had applied a little lipstick and ran a comb through her hair one last time, Kagome decided to show off her new appearance. She walked into the living room to see Sesshomaru watching cartoons with Sota. She stifled a giggle as she watched the Great Lord of the Western Lands stare intently at the screen with Sota excitedly explaining what was happening. She walked in front of the couch and cleared her throat. Two heads turned from the TV screen to stare at her. She smiled broadly.
“Kagome love, what happened?” Sesshomaru managed to choke out.
“I’m not sure, but I think that I was suppressing my demon self all these years, because I thought I was human. Now that I know, I think my demon features have come back out.” Kagome replied. Her mother entered the room, and instead of being shocked, smiled happily.
“So you decided to show yourself finally dear! I’m so happy, you remind me of your father…only feminine.” She said.
“So I was right, and I was suppressing my demon side. What do you think Sesshomaru, do you like my demon look?” Kagome asked nervously.
“I love the demon you just as much as I loved the human you. You are very beautiful Kagome. You will make the other Demon Lords very jealous that I have you.” He replied smiling.
“You two really should get back, everyone will be wondering how things went, and Shippo will be going mad missing you Kagome. Come back soon though!” Kagome’s mother said.
“Yeah Sesshomaru! We can watch more cartoons and I can show you how to play video games and we can tease Buyo together!” Sota exclaimed. Sesshomaru paled, glancing nervously at Kagome, who was smiling.
“Yes Sota, soon.”
“YIPPEE!! I can’t wait! Hurry up and leave so that you can come back!” Sota yelled happily. Kagome laughed at him.
“We are leaving now Sota! Mom, we’ll see you soon, I promise. I love you all!” Kagome said as Sesshomaru began to drag her through the door. She giggled all the way to the well. When they reached it, Sesshomaru held her close, and they jumped in.
They emerged from the well to the sight of Inuyasha chasing Shippo, who had his last cup of ramen, and Litara chasing Inuyasha with a spoon yelling for him to leave Shippo alone. Kagome and Sesshomaru started laughing, but immediately stopped when all eyes turned on them and a shocked silence filled the clearing.
