Sesshoumaru watched as Kagome ate a second plate of food. She seemed to be eating more and more every day, which was good. She had another two weeks before the pup was to be born. The wedding for Sango and Miroku was still a month away. Kikyou had had her pup about a month ago. Inu Yasha was tied up and begging for any reason to leave the house.

“Darling, what are you staring at?” Kagome asked.

Sesshoumaru looked at her. “Your lovely face,” he answered quietly, just for her to hear.

Kagome blushed and put her chopsticks down. “I should get the children to bed now.”

Sesshoumaru nodded while standing up. “Rin, Shippo, bed time.”

Rin clapped her hands and smiled. “Ok Daddy!”

Shippo whined. “Mom! Do I have to?” he asked.

“Yes, you do. I’m going to bed too. Kyo’s tired. Let’s go then,” she called while heading out the dining room door.

Sesshoumaru excused himself and headed out of the dining room himself, heading to his and Kagome’s bedroom. He entered it and sat down at one of the chairs in front of the fire place and waited patiently for Kagome to come into the room.

Several minutes later, Kagome came in and smiled at him, her stomach protruding out before her. “I thought you’d be in here already. So are you ready for bed?” she asked.

“I’m ready for anything that includes you,” he answered, standing up and helping her under slowly.

“It won’t be long now. Yura told me earlier that the room for Kyo will be ready by the end of the week. Then he’ll be born and everything will be perfect,” she said smiling up at him.

“Well, until then, we’ll just have to take the best care of you that we can, isn’t that right?” he asked teasingly while helping her climb into bed.

She smiled brightly at him. “Yes, you will. After all, I wouldn’t let anybody else do it.”

Sesshoumaru crawled into bed next to her and pulled her close to him. “I shall see you in the morning.”

Kagome woke to an empty bed. No children jumped around her in excitement, no mate cuddling next to her, no friend trying to get her to look at fabrics. Instead she felt immense pain.

She screamed out for someone, clutching at her stomach. Something was wrong. She knew it. Yura burst through the door and gasped, flying back out, shouting for the healer to come quickly. She returned instantly, holding her lady’s hand tightly.

“What’s going on?” Kagome asked, franticly trying to catch her breath and clutch at her stomach, praying that her little baby was fine.

“Oh, it’s early! He wants to come out. We’re not prepared!” Yura cried.

An elderly woman pushed into the room, followed by Sesshoumaru, who quickly came to Kagome’s side.

She looked up at him while the healer began giving out instructions on what to do. She grabbed his hand and squeezed tightly as more pain ripped through her body, forcing her to go into convulsions.

Sesshoumaru looked up at the healer and growled slightly. “What is going on?” he demanded of her.

“The baby has decided that he doesn’t want to wait anymore. All we can do is set it up for the birthing and let him come out,” she answered. “You’re going to have to leave the room. The men are not allowed to be in the room during the birthing. It’ is against protocol.”

Kagome held him tighter and shook her head. “No. I don’t want him to leave. I won’t allow it. Yura, send out the fastest messenger to my fathers. I want my family here.”

Yura nodded and quickly left the room toward the servant’s quarters. Kagome turned toward the healer as the pain subsided. “How long do you think it’s going to be?” she asked.

The healer looked up from laying out some tools on the bedside table and sighed. “I am not sure. We’ll have to move you to the drier side of the bed and I’ll take a look at you. It seems your water broke not long after my Lord left the bed.”

Kagome nodded while Sesshoumaru helped her move over to his side and looked down at her worriedly. “I’ll stay by your side if you wish of it.”

She smiled up at him. “I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she whispered. Her face contorted into pain as another contraction her like a wave.

The healer grabbed the lighter of the two blankets on the bed and placed it over Kagome’s lower half and directed her to spread her legs and bend her knees up. Kagome obeyed and waited with what little patience she had through the pain as the woman took a look under the sheet. Her head popped out and she smiled at the two.

“He should be out by the end of the night. He may be a bit smaller then he should be, but it looks like there won’t be any difficulties and he’ll be healthy as a horse. Probably as strong as one too,” she chuckled, easing Sesshoumaru’s worry and causing Kagome to smile brightly up at him.

The doors burst open to the children running into the room. As they got closer to the bed, their steps slowed until they looked up with worry.

“Mamma?” Shippo asked. “Are you ok? Why’s the healer in here?”

Rin looked up at her. “Is Kyo ok? Kyo’s not sick, is Kyo?” she asked.

Sesshoumaru looked down at Kagome who looked up at him. She turned back to the children and motioned for them to join the two on the bed. Rin moved slowly and Shippo jumped up onto Sesshoumaru’s shoulder, as to not disturb the bed to much for Kagome’s sake, as she didn’t look to good at the moment.

“Kyo’s not sick sweaty,” Kagome answered, pushing back a stray hair out of Rin’s face. “He’s just ready to come meet his family now. Grampa Inu-no and Kibito are going to be here soon. So are Aunt Kikyou and Uncle Yasha and even Gramma Izayoi. Won’t that be fun?” she asked. Then the whole family will be here. I even believe Kikyou and Yasha are going to be bringing the babies. Won’t that be fun to see them again?” she asked the little girl.

“Yay! Everyone’s coming to our house! We don’t have to go there!” she cheered looking up at Shippo. “Isn’t that wonderful? Rin doesn’t like riding in the carriage for that long.”

Shippo nodded and looked down at Kagome. “Are you ok mamma? You don’t look to good.”

She smiled and pulled him down to her arms and hugged him the best she could with her protruding stomach and while she was laying on the bed. “I’ll be just fine. How about you two go find Sango and Miroku and tell them that I want them to keep an eye on you while Kyo comes, ok?”

Rin nodded as Sesshoumaru lifted her off the bed and placed her on her feet. Shippo followed his example and quickly jumped off the bed. He glanced back at Kagome before finally taking Rins hand and led her out of the room.

The doors closed and Kagome sighed and laid her head back on the pillow. She glanced at Sesshoumaru and smiled at him. “You know, this is the biggest day we’ve had yet. It’ll top any ceremony that comes with you.”

He smiled and settled further into the bed next to her, trying to avoid the wet spot as much as he could. “And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Sango paced nervously outside her best friends door and listened her screams of pain. Obscenities flew left and right at her mate, cursing him to the lowest level of hell if she ever made it out alive. Miroku’s eyes widened more and more with every foul thing the woman said, glancing nervously at Sango, silently vowing never to get her pregnant, and if he did, he would definitely not be in the same room during the birthing process. She would kill him the moment it started, without thinking about it.

The children watched the doors in worry and sorrow, even going so far as trying to get into the room every now and then to make sure Kagome was ok, but was fended off by Miroku who picked them up and placed them back onto the chairs that had been placed out there for the group of people that had been collected.

Inu-no sat in one of the chairs, chuckling at the mouth on her daughter and what his son’s face must have looked like at that very moment, remembering when Izayoi had had Inu Yasha. It must have been why Inu Yasha had such a horrible mouth.

Inu Yasha flinched visibly at every word, trying to crouch as low in his chair as he possibly could, memories of Kikyou’s birthing still fresh in his mind. He knew Sesshoumaru was in more pain then he would actually admit to anyone. Women crushed your hands, screamed until your ears bleed, blamed you for everything, and then on top of that, wouldn’t let you sleep for ages after that, always asking you to take care of the monster. He was regretting even getting Kikyou pregnant in the first place every waking moment.

Kibito sat at the edge of his chair anxiously, waiting for the doors to burst open to announce that his daughter and grandson were fine. He couldn’t help but to agonize over his daughter’s pain and the fact that it was too early for Kyo to come yet. He still had two weeks.

Izayoi tried to distract the children with fairy tales and little games they could play. Kanade, Kikyou’s baby girl, sat on her lap cooing at everything around her. Of course, she couldn’t be happier then she was at this moment. In less then a year, her family had extended fully by six new members. Four of them being young enough to be spoiled by toys, clothes and treats.

Kikyou sighed and bounced an upset Ryura on her lap. He didn’t seem to like the screams coming from the room in front of them. Of course, she had lost a lot of sleep due to the twins, and Inu Yasha wasn’t helping much, finding being a parent much harder then they had both thought. Kagome had made it look so easy taking care of Rin and Shippo. Even if they were a bit older and they understood what they were being told to do.

It had been a day in a half since her water had broken. The healer said that it would only take a day. Nobody knew what was happening. They didn’t even want to think about what would be going on in there that would make it so long. What if she wasn’t alright? What if there were complications with Kyo? There were to many what ifs for the group to like.

On top of that, nobody had seen anyone come in or out the whole time. Including Yura, who was helping the healer the whole time. Sesshoumaru demanded that nobody was allowed into the room.

“What the hell’s taking so long?” Inu Yasha yelled.

Kikyou looked up at him with her tired eyes and glared at him the best she could. “Watch your mouth. I don’t want the kid’s first words to be something foul.”

Inu-no sighed. “Anything could be happening son.”

Izayoi looked up from cooing in Kanade’s ear and frowned. “Hopefully they are both fine.”

Sango looked up at the doors as the screams began to quite and a new wail pierced the air. “I think it’s done.”

“Finally!” Inu Yasha exasperated, standing up from his chair. “I don’t know how much longer I could listen to her screaming like that.”

“Inu Yasha,” Miroku warned, looking up at his friend. “I suggest you watch what you say. There are two women out here that had to deal with birthing already.”

Izayoi chuckled. “He wasn’t a bundle of joy during the birthing process either.”

The door slowly opened, silencing the room immediately while Sesshoumaru stepped out of the room, a bundle wrapped up in his arms. He looked up at the group, a slight smile on his face. He closed the door behind him and walked over to his father, handing him the pup in his arms.

Inu-no smiled down on the pup. It was sleeping soundly. His silver hair seemed to take on his mother’s fullness and waves, and his father’s coloring. The waning blue moon on his forehead showed whose son he was fully. He had a maroon stripe on each check and his tiny claws were curled into a fists under his chin.

Izayoi stood up and came to inspect the bundle and smiled. “His father’s and mother’s hair! How wonderful. He’s so beautiful.”

Kibito leaned over and sighed. “You are a lucky man, Sesshoumaru. How’s his mother doing?” he asked, looking up at the demon.

“She’s sound asleep. Being up for so long, and in so much pain took its toll on her, though she will be fine in the morning. The healer gave her some herbs to help her sleep and ease the pain that is still there,” he answered. “I’ve ordered to finish cleaning up the mess she had made and to leave the room. Nobody but I or Kyo are allowed in there until she wakes.”

Izayoi nodded and handed Kanade to Inu Yasha before holding out her arms for Kyo. Inu-no handed the pup over carefully and watched as his mate cooed over him. Sango came over with Miroku and smiled down at him. “Congratulations, Sesshoumaru. You’re a father, again!”

He nodded in thanks and watched as Kikyou came to fawn over his child while Inu Yasha grumbled about having to hold his daughter and not being able to hold his son instead, even if he was still wailing in his mother’s arms.

The healer exited the room with a bundle of tools and stuff and smiled up at Sesshoumaru. “Kagome should be awake in a little while. She seems to be fighting the sleeping aid. Must really want to see her family. Yura’s in there trying to settle her back into a restful sleep now.”

Sesshoumaru nodded. “You are dismissed.”

She bowed quickly and headed down the hall toward her room. Kikyou smiled brightly up at Sesshoumaru. “I wish you the best of luck surviving through this. Babies are much harder to take care of then children.”

“Kikyou, you’re going to ruin it all for him,” Kibito scorned.

“Sesshoumaru?” A voice called from inside the room.

He quickly turned, recognizing his mate’s waking voice and headed into the room to find her sitting up in bed. She smiled as he entered and motioned for him to come closer. He obeyed and dismissed Yura.

“How’s our angel?” she asked.

“He is sound asleep in Izayoi’s arms. How are you doing?” he asked.

“I’m a bit in pain, and really tired, but I didn’t want to sleep without you. You have to be as tired as I am.”

Sesshoumaru smiled. “I will let the family know that I will be resting with you. Izayoi and Kikyou will take care of Kyo while we sleep,” he offered.

She smiled and watched as he walked out of the room and came back in within moments. He lay down next to her and pulled her gently toward him. She quickly drifted off to sleep and Sesshoumaru followed shortly after her.

Sango once again looked over the fabrics and flower placements one last time, making sure that everything was placed exactly where she had wanted. Kagome stood nearby holding Kyo in her arms, wondering when Sango would realize that everything looked absolutely perfect.

She still needed to get in her dress and Keadea was going to be the one marrying them this time around, seeming as Miroku couldn’t possibly be the acting holy one, and Kagome and Kikyou were too busy with their children to have the time to do that.

“Sango, come on. You can’t sit in here all day and just fuss over where everything is. You’re getting married in just a few hours. Don’t you think you should get ready? You have to bathe, dress, make sure you look just fine, and then get the rest of us ready for your big day. If you don’t hurry up, I’ll force Sesshoumaru to throw you into the hot springs for me,” Kagome growled at her friend.

Sango sighed and turned around. “How the hell did you do this? TWICE? This is just so frustrating. Did you know that some of the servants can’t get some of the ingredients for the dishes? What the hell are they supposed to make now?” Sango asked.

“Don’t worry Sango,” Kagome reassured. “Sesshoumaru found them for you. He’s sent out several people just yesterday to collect them and they arrived back last night with it all. Everything is fine. I’ve been helping out, even if you don’t see it. Well, actually, I’m making Sesshoumaru help out, but that’s beside the point.”

Sango laughed and shook her head. “You’ve got him wrapped around your pinkie.”

Kagome smiled brightly. “I think it’s the other way around. But don’t tell him that.”

“Don’t tell who what?” Sesshoumaru asked, walking into the temple that Sango and Miroku were to be married in.

“Don’t you worry about it. Because if you knew, you’d use it to your advantage. Now, demand that Sango head off to the hot springs to bathe for her wedding,” Kagome said.

Sesshoumaru turned to said woman, who in turn threw her arms up in the air. “I’m going! You don’t have to say anything.”

With that, she headed out of the room, leaving the family by themselves.

“And what were you two talking about?” he asked her once again.

Kagome frowned up at him. “You don’t need to worry about it.”

Sesshoumaru smirked. “Next time you say you’re wrapped around my finger and don’t admit it right away to me, I’ll just test this theory out for myself.”

Kagome’s mouth fell open and she slapped him lightly on the arm. “You’ve been eaves dropping again!” she accused. “That’s unbecoming!”

“And I’ve already become, so it does not matter to me what is and isn’t unbecoming. How are my mate and son?” he asked, looking down at his pup in his mate’s arms.

“We’re just fine, though he’s been quite a bit fussier since you’ve been busy. Your father just keeps saying that you need to be around him a bit more, but you’re a busy Lord after all,” she answered.

He frowned at this and wrapped his arm around Kagome’s waist and laid a hand gently down on his pup’s forehead, only to watch as his eyes opened, revealing the violet hue his mother had. His son was going to be a womanizer, just like his grandpa. Kyo gurgled and reached up for his hand, grabbing hold of his pinky.

Kagome smiled and looked up at Sesshoumaru, watching as he looked down at their pup with pride in his eyes.

“He’s going to grow up just like you. A tough demon, but still a pup at heart,” she said.

“I am no pup,” he growled lightly at her.

She laughed at him for this and kissed his cheek. “Well, you may deny it all you want, but it’s the truth. Now, I’m going to go wash myself and Kyo here up and then get ready for the wedding. How’s Miroku holding up?” she asked.

Sesshoumaru glared at the door. “I had finally gotten away from his consistent chatter and unnecessary pacing. Is Rin and Shippo ready for the wedding?” he asked.

“Rin still hasn’t decided on what kimono she wants to wear and Shippo keeps saying he’s been to too many ceremonies since you’ve come into the picture and he doesn’t want to go to another one,” she said, a sigh escaping her lips. “Maybe you can convince him that he should go.”

Sesshoumaru nodded and started to lead her out of the room and toward the children’s. “Rin will no doubt need to bathe too. You should take her.”

“I was thinking about it. Shippo took one not to long ago, so he should be fine. Yura said he put up quite the fight though. How’s his training going?” she asked as they walked down the hall toward Rin’s room.

“He has improved, though his studies still are going nowhere. He does not believe demons need it,” he answered. “And Rin’s studies are flourishing. If she keeps learning at the rate she is, we will have need of a new teacher.”

Kagome laughed at this. “Maybe a new one is what we need to make Shippo learn. I know I went through a good twenty before I found one that could actually make me believe learning was fun. Maybe that’s all we need. One that will make learning as fun as training.”

Sesshoumaru grunted as he let his mate go and opened the door to Rin’s room. Clothes were thrown all over the floor and Rin sat in the middle of the room, staring at them all. She looked up as the door opened and a wide smile plastered itself onto her face. Standing up, she quickly made her way to Sesshoumaru’s and Kagome’s side.

“Have you decided on something to wear yet, Rin?” Kagome asked.

“Rin finds it to hard to decide. Rin wants some help. Dad?” she asked, looking up at Sesshoumaru.

He looked over the mess and forced himself not to sigh. He really let his father and his wife spoil the children too much. Half of the clothes on the floor he had never even seen before, obviously meaning that Inu-no, Izayoi or even Kibito had picked them out for her. He scanned over the quickly and spotted a beautiful green one with a light blue stork on it.

“How about that one,” he said, pointing it out to her. She beamed up to him and quickly grabbed it, rushing over to them once again.

“Rin’s ready now!” she exclaimed, grabbing Kagome’s hand. “Are we going to take a bath yet?”

Kagome nodded and kissed Sesshoumaru. “Go find Shippo and talk to him while I get us all ready. It shouldn’t be to much longer before the wedding. Less then half the day.”

He nodded and turned around, heading back the way they had come from as Kagome grabbed Rin’s hand and lead her toward the family hot springs to clean up.

Kagome smiled up at her mate as they twirled around the dance floor. Kibito had been kind enough to put the children to bed and take Kyo with him, seeming as he claimed old age was creeping up on him and late nights just wasn’t his thing anymore. Especially now that he had stepped down from his place. He still wouldn’t call it retirement.

Sesshoumaru had asked Kagome to dance with him and she had done so happily. Miroku looked to be sitting on the edge of his seat, just waiting for Sango to tell anyone that she was even a little bit tired.

“It reminds me of our wedding,” Kagome said. “Except without the other women fawning over you.”

Sesshoumaru smirked. “Indeed. A happy memory.”

Kagome smiled softly to herself and moved in closer. “I think we should head to bed. I’ve never been to a wedding party after the bride and groom have left, but from the stories I’ve heard, it gets a bit rowdy. I don’t think I really want to be around when that happens.”

He nodded and soon found themselves near the happily married couple. They both looked up at them and smiled brightly.

“Kagome! You’re having a good time without the kids around, right?” Sango asked.

“I would have a good time even if they were here. We were just going to go to bed. You two have a lovely night. And don’t do anything I wouldn’t,” Kagome joked, giving Sango a wink, who blushed slightly.

Miroku’s eyes widened. “My Lady! I believe between your mate and his brother’s mouth, you have been soiled!”

Kagome laughed at this and waved him off. “The only one soiled here is you Miroku. You know, now you’re married, those hand maids will beat you worse if you touch them.”

Miroku smirked. “But Sango’s bottom is the only one I will ever grope again.”

At this Sango turned around and smacked him. “Pervert!” she hissed at him before turning back to her friend. “You two have good night. And don’t worry about me or Miroku. We’ll see you two in the morning. Alright?”

Sesshoumaru nodded before leading Kagome out of the entertainment hall. “I want to check up on Kyo and the kids before we head to bed. Make sure they’re actually sleeping and that father doesn’t have them up playing games.”

Sesshoumaru nodded and they headed toward Shippo’s room first, as he was the closest. They slid the door open and Kagome slipped in to tuck him under the blanket that had slipped down to the foot of the bed.

After making sure that he was fine, they headed toward Rin’s room, only to find that she was snuggled up to Kibito on her bed, fast asleep with the old man, a book lay open next to the hand that hung over the bed. Kagome laughed quietly and picked it up off the floor, marking it with the string attached to the spine and lifting her father’s arm up and placing up on the bed.

They headed closer toward their own room, as they had set up Kyo’s right next to their own in case he woke up in the middle of the night and one of them had to get up and check on him. They walked in and Kagome moved toward the cradle, a slight frown on her face. Kyo wasn’t a sound sleeper. He made little snore sounds and she didn’t hear anything.

Looking into the cradle, a lump had been covered completely. She pulled back the blanket, figuring he had crawled under it at one point or another, stifling the sound he normally made. Upon uncovering the lump, Kagome realized it was just a pillow and quickly looked around the room.

Sesshoumaru watched on from where he stood. “What is wrong?” he asked, heading toward her.

“He’s not here. Sesshoumaru, Kyo’s not in his cradle. Where is he?” she asked franticly, looking under several blankets in the fenced off area they had made for a play pen. She still couldn’t find him.

Sesshoumaru growled and turned to face the window that now stood open. He never allowed anyone to open because he didn’t want his son to catch a cold from the wind. He dashed toward it and looked out, catching a faint smell. To faint to follow. But his son’s scent was mixed with it.

He growled and rushed from the room, leaving a frantic mate in his wake. She tired to run after him, but lost sight and sound of him. Deciding to find her father, she quickly ran to Rin’s room and woke him up, trying to be careful not to wake her daughter and frighten her.

“Kagome?” he asked, sitting up on his elbows. “What’s wrong?”

Tears had already begun to streak down her face in her fright. “Kyo! He’s not there! He’s not in his room!” she cried.

Kibito quickly stood up and grabbed Rin up out of her bed and into his arms. “Quick, go get Shippo. Where’s Sesshoumaru?” he asked.

“I don’t know,” she cried. “He just took off running. I don’t know!”

Kibito grabbed his daughter and pulled her closer to him in comfort. “Listen to me darling. Go grab your son and meet me in the entertainment hall. We’ll give the kids to mom and Kikyou and Inu Yasha and Inu-no will help find Kyo for you, alright. We’ll help find him. I don’t think he’s gotten too far. He’s just a baby.”

Kagome nodded and pulled away, quickly making his way towards Shippo’s room. She rushed in as she got there and pulled him out of his bed and meet up with Kibito back in the hall outside of his room. They headed back towards the hall where everyone was having a good time, oblivious to the pain and suffering that Kagome was going through outside.

They entered the hall and quickly found Inu-no laughing at Inu Yasha as he made Kikyou mad at him once again for being inconsiderate. They approached and the group looked up, Inu Yasha and Inu-no instantly worried by the tears in Kagome’s eyes.

“What’s wrong?” Inu-no asked, taking Rin from Kibito while Izayoi took Shippo out of Kagome’s arms.

“Kyo’s gone missing. Sesshoumaru just took off. We don’t know what’s happening,” Kibito answered.

Inu-no’s eyes widened. “Kyo’s missing? But how?”

Kagome shook her head. “I don’t know! But I want my baby back!”

Kikyou rushed to Kagome and wrapped her arms around her younger sister. “Inu Yasha, go get Ryura and Kanade. I don’t want them missing too.”

Inu Yasha took off at a run at her words, hoping they were still with Keadea, who had offered to look after the twins while the two were celebrating their friend’s wedding.

Inu-no handed Rin to Kikyou as she pulled away. “I’m going to go find my son and help look for my grandson. As soon as Inu Yasha returns, send him after me.”

Kagome nodded and Kibito seated her on a pillow and tried to comfort his daughter in her time of distress.

thehotty : O.o What the hell's happening?

Kouga : Should have known you would be an immortal bitch once more.

thehotty : *hit's Kouga with a frying pan, knocking him out* That should keep you quiet for a while.

Inu Yasha : Who won this time?

Sesshoumaru : I believe Shippo won.

Shippo : YAY! I GET TO WIN FINALLY!

Inu Yasha : I'M NOT GIVING THAT RUNT MY MONEY!!! NO WAY IN HELL!!!

thehotty : It's so nice to know people are betting on weither or not Kouga will get hit.

Kagome : Well, it's his fault for being a stupid moron.

thehotty : And how do you guys do these bets?

Miroku : It's simple. It's based on when and with what will you give in to the urge to harm our dear friend.

thehotty : Ok then... You know, the only reason I do anything harmful to him is because when ever he's around, for some odd reason, I have this constant urge to hurt things. So I take it out on him.

Kagome : O.o That's a bit violent.

thehotty : I NEVER claimed to be a saint. I just act like one.

Sango : No you don't.

thehotty : Whatever. Don't believe me. Want proof? Go to the orphange and ask them who's their favorite person in all the world. They'll say TH.

Inu Yasha : There's isn't even an orphange around here!

thehotty : OH! Go suck an egg, you big cry-baby!

Sango : O.o Alrigty then... Next time on For the Good of Things.... Well, it isn't written up yet, so I can't tell you. Just come back and we'll let you read for yourself.
