The Races

Chapter 17

A bone she had, and it was picked. Sesshoumaru apologized but she did not move her things back into his room, she stayed in her new room that was coincidently connected to Rin’s room. The girls stayed up late and talked just about every night much to the annoyance of Sesshoumaru.

Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha wanted to use her to spy on Rin and Kohaku’s phone conversations but she firmly refused, though she will admit that she spent her night listening in and giggling at their childish conversations. She was not sure if Rin knew she was there and was purposefully keeping it clean or that she and Kohaku were just really good kids but Kagome got a kick out of it regardless, especially after the game of truth or Dare they all played.


Almost two weeks had gone by and Kagome had not told Sesshoumaru that he was going with her. Sure she had said that she was leaving but she mentioned nothing about him going with her.

Kagome snickered every time she envisioned his face when she finally told him, to tell you the truth, Sesshoumaru since he found out that she was leaving for a bit of time had been stuck to her hip as often as he could. School, the bathroom, and bed were the only three places he did not or could not follow her.

Over the last weeks Kagome had advanced up three spots and was now in level three. Tonight she hoped to get to six before she left for vacation. When she got back she knew that she would have to work back up to six because she was still a new racer. She would drop back to second before she got back, Sesshoumaru however would stay at the top at one because he has been the reining champ for so long. Inuyasha or Naraku would probably alternate between the title while they were gone.

Speaking of being gone they were to leave tomorrow and she still has not told Sesshoumaru, he still thought that she was going alone, his aura gave off that he was saddened and a little bit desperate. He clung to her, it was to the point now that she was sitting on his lap during dinner and he is feeding her. ‘This is so embarrassing, I should tell him soon.’

“Sesshoumaru,” Kagome whispered getting his attention, she did not want to speak in a normal tone she didn’t want to hurt his ears, being a half-demon she knew that even whispering could hurt at times, she could only imagine what it was like for him. “After dinner walk with me in the garden I have something to tell you.” She finished in the same whisper that she started in.

Surprisingly is lap was not all that uncomfortable. His thighs were muscular and not at all hard on her butt, although her butt was probably killing his legs and circulation. Kagome attempted to leave his lap and her let out a low warning growl, ‘Well so much for giving his legs a rest.’

After dinner Kagome got off his lap, but Sesshoumaru did not move. “Are you coming?” Kagome asked.

“I will as soon as I regain the feeling in my legs.” Sesshoumaru said back giving her a pointed glance.

“And whose fault is that, I tried to move off of you and you growled at me.” Kagome said as she crossed her arms over her chest, before he could even start to place the blame on her.

“If my Mate-To-Be was not running away I would not have to keep her near now to get my fill of her before she leaves.” Sesshoumaru retorted as he stood on unstable legs for a second.

“Well if your slow ass would get a move on I could talk to you about it out side.” Kagome said before she stomped off to the garden entrance.

Sesshoumaru grumbled lowly and followed after her. He found her sitting under her favorite tree, the weeping willow, the moon light reflected off her hair giving her glow. She looked so relaxed and untouchable.
Suddenly she turned towards him, “Come sit with me.” She said while patting the ground beside her.

Sesshoumaru sat leery of what she had to tell him, ‘What if she tells me she is leaving and never coming back?’ Sesshoumaru started to worry.

Kagome could feel the anxiety coming off of him, so when he sat down she crawled into his lap and curled up nice and comfortable. “Sesshoumaru,” She started. She could tell that the pause made him nervous. “Tomorrow I leave after school.” She again paused; he was so tense that he was like a steel wall. “I have noticed that you have not started to pack yet, you should hop on it already you are not going to be ready to leave with me tomorrow, I booked a flight for two you know.”

Sesshoumaru was expecting something bad, this was not even close to what he thought was to come. “What?” He asked in a moment of shock, his brain stopped working and he said the most intelligent thing he could think of.

“Did you honestly think that I would leave without you?” Kagome said. “You have to meet my American friends sometime.” Kagome said as she curled farther into him, he was much more comfortable when he was not tense.

“Ha ha Kagome, very funny. You mean to tell me that all this time I have been worrying over nothing?” He asked irritably, to say he was bit mad would be an understatement, he had latched onto her this last two weeks because he was afraid that he was going to lose her and here she announces that she was going to take him the whole time. What a jerk she was.

“Yes, you made me mad so I wanted you to suffer a bit longer. I was going to take you the whole time. You should probably talk to your father; he is the one that originally talked me out of being mad at you.” Kagome stated through a yawn.

Sesshoumaru noticed this and easily picked her up and took her to his room for the night. He crawled into bed with her and both fell asleep fully clothed.

The next morning Sesshoumaru awoke to hear the shower running. He got up and out of bed, and started packing cloths in a duffle bag that he used when he played basketball.

When Kagome emerged from the bathroom she found him just finishing up with his packing and turning to get in the shower.

When Sesshoumaru turned the only thing he saw was a dripping wet Kagome, clad in nothing but a towel. He turned his head towards the sky, ‘There is a god that likes me.’ With that he advanced towards Kagome, “There is nothing sexier than a beautiful lady emerging from my bathroom soaking wet, early in the morning.” He said as he wrapped his arms around her wet form.

“Sesshoumaru we have school, do not start something that we can not progress through.” Kagome warned as she wiggled out of his grasp.

“Who said we couldn’t finish it. There is no need for us to go to school today.” He purred.

“Oh yes there is I have to say good bye to Sango and Miroku, Now move.” She said as he pushed him into the bathroom while swatting his ass.

Kagome had every thing packed weeks ago, she only really needed cloths because her brother, Kouga, still knew what she liked and still had it from when she left the house this past summer. The only problem was that Sesshoumaru would have to bring everything with him but I guess that they had to they could just buy what they forgot when they get there.

Kagome dressed in one of Sesshoumaru’s shirt, it was long and had a big blue dragon on the back and it had red and black flames all over it. Kagome liked it the most of all his shirts. With the long shirt on she left the towel in the hamper and walked down the hallway to her room to finish dressing, she had kept the shirt on.

Kagome met Sesshoumaru in the dinning room he eyed her in his cloths, “Sesshoumaru, I arranged for Shippo to drive with us to the airport, so that he can have my car over the break.” Kagome said. “I am so proud that he got his license.” Kagome squealed.

Sesshoumaru just rolled his eyes. She got so excited at times. ‘I hope she is not like this with her friends.’ “That is fine with me, but I am driving on the way there.” Sesshoumaru demanded. He never let anyone drive him a round unless they were in the limo.

Kagome sighed and rolled her eyes, “Whatever you say dear.” She said sarcastically.

Sesshoumaru smirked, ‘That’s right; know who your master is.’ His beast growled. ‘Shut up you she was not serious.’ His beast merely growled but shut up none the less.

School went as usual, with the exception of Sango demanding she bring this and that back for her, ‘God, you would think I was dating her and not Miroku.’ “Of course Sango I will bring all that back with me Sango, I will just hide it in my shirt when we go through customs.” again with the sarcasm, even Sesshoumaru was getting annoyed at this point and time.

‘Who knew that one female could be so demanding, I hope Kagome is not like this when she gets pregnant, I can remember what Inuyasha’s mother was like, she was a pain in the ass.’ Sesshoumaru recalled.

Finally the end of the day came and they were on the way to the house to get their bags then go and pick up Shippo.

Shippo climbed into the back seat behind Kagome, “Ok, these are the rules; no sex in my car, and no street racing that is the last thing I need is for you to get hurt in my car just after you start to drive. Other than that just don’t hand Tasukie my car keys ever the gods only know what he’ll do to it. Only the right amount of people in this car, always wear you seat belt, and I think that covers it.” Kagome said in one breath.

“I know Kagome.” Shippo said a bit annoyed, who would he have sex with or why would he give her keys to Tasukie he had an idea of what he would do with her car should he get a hold of it.

Sesshoumaru parked and they got out and grabbed their stuff, they were called to board and Kagome hugged Shippo tightly before she and Sesshoumaru got onto the plane. Luckily they had seats next to one another.

Kagome fell asleep against Sesshoumaru’s shoulder, after a while she awoke to go to the bathroom, if you could call it that. But she ended up back on his shoulder in a deep sleep. Soon after though Sesshoumaru was lulled to sleep by the smooth motion, and the sent of Kagome, he soon was asleep beside her.

Sesshoumaru awoke with a jerk, ‘What the hell was that.’ Again the plane gave a jerk, “Kagome wake up.” He looked to his side to see her missing. “Kagome!” Sesshoumaru shouted as he jumped out of his seat.

“Sir you are going to have to get into you seat and buckle you seat belt.” The flight attendant said.

“My fiancé is not here I do not know where she went. I fell asleep, and I do not know where she went.” Sesshoumaru said as he pushed past her.

The plane again shook and a scream was heard from the rest room area. “Kagome.” Sesshoumaru said as he moved toward the bathrooms.

Sesshoumaru slammed through the door to find Kagome crouched beside the toilet and the wall. “Come on we have to get to our seats.” Sesshoumaru said as he pulled her to her feet and helped her back to their seats.

“Sesshoumaru the plain is going to crash.” Kagome said.

“No, no its not.” Sesshoumaru said trying to reassure her.

“Yes, it is, I have seen it.” Kagome said in a deadly calm voice. “You have the ability to fly. Right?” She asked a bit worried.

“I do.” Sesshoumaru said pacifying her worries.

“Good because the second the plan starts to go down you need to blast through the plane wall and fly away.” Kagome said.

“What I am not leaving you.” Sesshoumaru said as he grabbed her and brought her to his chest securely to try to calm her down.

“You must if I go with you, you will die.” Kagome said in hysteria.

“What? I will not leave you here.” Sesshoumaru shouted at her.

Just then the engines failed and the plane started its decent. “Sesshoumaru go now.” Kagome shouted, but Sesshoumaru refused to go. So Kagome blasted through a wall with her miko powers and pushed him out of the hole.

Sesshoumaru formed his cloud and looked back at the plane in enough time to see it collide with the ground and burst into flames.
