Chapter 17
Cleaning a Mess

Venus had arrived at her destination and sent out her tendrils of power to alert the other gods she was present and not here for trouble. It did not take long before she was greeted at the gates of the Japanese realm; she recognized the form of Chimata-No-Kami the god of crossroads and footpaths right away. He was a plain but good looking god who preferred peace and solitude to that of ruckus and flocks, he was not a social god not that she couldn't blame him. "Ohayo Chimata-No-Kami-sama." Venus said with a bow of respect towards another of the same station.


Chimata looked at Venus with a curious eye "Ohayo Venus-sama, what brings you to our home?" he asked while returning her bow of respect and opening up the gate to her.


With a smile Venus replied "I am here to speak with Benzaiten… my Cupid, I am afraid caused a mess. He left Rome and came to Japan and I am here to clean up after the boy's mess, which I had hoped was not too extensive." she said with a slight wince at the idea of how many arrows he could have shot with the amount of time he spent away.


Releasing a hearty laugh Chimata responded "That was cupid you say? She was outraged, he had shot a pair of very important people and pushed them down a path they were not ready for yet." he replied while signaling her to follow him.


Following Chimata-No-Kami Venus could not help but feel angered at her son, 'It would seem it was a good thing that I brought the Ambrosia.' she thought while she stepped to the side of Chimata. She knew that the Japanese goddesses were always subservient to the gods, but for the life of her could not bring herself to act as such.


Venus and Chimata walked through the Kingdom of the Japanese Heavens coming to a stop at a beautiful castle.

"Here you are Venus-Sama, Just knock and someone will answer." he told her before disappearing in a blink of an eye.


Venus turned to the castle and ventured up the steps coming to a stop at the large wooden doors.

Knock, Knock, Knock

She rapped the knocker against the door and waited for it to be answered.

Venus sat waiting the sitting room of the goddess Benzaiten awaiting her appearance. She did not have to wait long; the goddess came in the room and sat directly across from her. Venus held the Ambrosia within her hands, when the goddess sat she spoke "Hello Benzaiten-sama, thank you for seeing me on such short notice. Here I have brought you a delicacy of the Roman and Greek Gods, it is called Ambrosia." Venus stated handing the small package to Benzaiten.


Excepting the gift Benzaiten replied "Thank you Venus-sama." taking the package from Venus and placing it beside her she returned her attention to the visiting goddess.


"There are a few things you should know about that in case you don't already. The Ambrosia is a food of the gods that will grant immortality to any mortal who eats it. I must warn you though, if a mortal who has been 'touched by the gods' or gifted with power will be turned into a god or goddess, whatever the case may be." Venus explained solemnly.


Benzaiten looked at Venus nodding in understanding "I will remember that thank you for the wonderful gift. Would you like some tea Venus-sama?" Benzaiten asked Venus and watched as she nodded her head.


"Yes that would be wonderful thank you." She replied hoping to get straight to the reason she had come.


Benzaiten waved her hand and a servant came into the room and poured both goddesses a cup of tea. "Now what can I do for you?" Benzaiten asked looking over her cup at Venus.


Taking a sip of the tea then placing it back on the table she answered "I am sorry to inform you but it came to my attention that while my Cupid had disappeared from Rome, he had came to Japan. I am afraid he may have caused a problem; I am here to fix that problem. I am sorry if Cupid caused you any undue troubles but he is but a child. I know not the inconvenience he has caused but he will be punished accordingly for this mishap." Venus informed her with every bit of sincerity in her words.


Benzaiten looked at Venus with a frown "So that was Cupid was it? Hm, he had caused us a lot of problems. He pushed together two individuals who were not ready for it, we had important plans for them and it could not be rushed. He had interfered with a mortal who was designed by Ama-No-Uzume the fertility goddess, Izanami the creator goddess and me for a very special purpose. The fates had seen fit to mate her to an immortal youkai insuring that the vessel of the Shikon No Tama will be very well protected before she was able to ascend as well as her mate. Now I am afraid that it will not work, because when the mating was to occur it had to be untainted and with true love. Now the youkai has mated and impregnated her before they truly fell in love. This may be a mess you can not repair." the goddess Benzaiten informed the goddess Venus


Venus listened carefully to the problem her brat had caused she could not believe the trouble he caused, she knew of the Shikon all the Gods did. The Shikon had the possibilities to effect them all, they had agreed to send the Shikon to the future with the soul of a priestess strong enough to keep it pure until a time where she could return and finish her destiny.
The Vessel of the Shikon was made of mortal flesh but the vessel was so much more than that. The vessel housed the blood of the gods, it was foretold that the vessel would ascend to a higher plain once she was merged with the Jewel, then she would become the goddess of Purity and her mate the god of Darkness. They would be the only gods who could live in the earthen plains for all eternity as its protector.

Now it would seem that the work they had done had been for naught. "Oh My! I came here to undo the problems. I have a certain power over my son's actions, if it was horribly wrong I could rewind time; make it as though they were never shot to begin with, and the fates could resume their work. Again, I am so sorry for what Cupid has done but now that I think about it, Cupid's arrows would only drive those to sexual actions if the attraction was there already." she said before she drifted off into thought 'I can fix this, we cannot afford the plans for the Shikon to be thwarted!' the thoughts ran through her head with determination, she would do what had to be done!


"I am certain the arrow worked as it did because of the fates had already set the events in motion for them both. The attraction was there when they first met and progressed as she showed him her loyalty and courage through their interactions." Benzaiten had stated in response to her comment about Cupids arrows.


Venus stood up and bowed to Benzaiten "I should get going there is much to be done. Again I am sorry for this problem and I will see to it that it never happens again."


Benzaiten walked Venus to the door and bid her good day.

Things never happened as she hoped! Kagome sat alone in the chambers she shared with her mate, he had been gone all day tending to his lordly duties 'What am I suppose to do, just sit here all day in boredom?' she asked herself knowing she would not receive an answer anytime soon.

The chamber room was very lavish and huge; it looked big enough to fit Sesshomaru comfortably standing in his true form. It was decorated in his house's colors, the customary red and white. 'I would enjoy this if Television had been invented already!' she thought annoyed with the lack of things to do. She could not just go traipsing around the palace without a destination in mind 'Especially with all the hostile youkai here.' she worried looking longingly at the door.

She was still sitting on the bed half an hour later as bored as before. She was about to stand and walk outside destination be damned when she started to feel strange. It was a hazy, dizzy feeling at first like standing up too fast, but then the dizziness made her feel awkwardly empty. Her world began to spin and she began to wobble, when the world went black.
What Kagome did not realize was that it did not happen only to her. It was not her vision that was spinning, it was the whole world. And when darkness overtook her it erased her presence from the room she was sitting in.

Sitting in a good size room stacked with books and scrolls sat Sesshomaru behind his desk surrounded by paperwork. He had been at this since he had returned, he knew he should have at least shown his mate the gardens so she would not be stuck in the chambers all day, but he was worried, he did not miss the looks she was receiving from his female servants. He was trying to protect her and his pup; she was his mate after all. It was strange how all this happened, but he had begun to really feel emotions towards his miko mate. He still could not get enough of that: 'his miko' it was gratifying to alert his hanyou half brother to whom she belonged to now. It was almost as good as informing him that she was deflowered and pupped.
He sat behind his desk thinking about his mate and the boredom he could feel through their bond, he decided that he would show her the gardens and make sure she had a guard while she was outside their chambers.

With that idea in mind he stood, never in all his life had he felt dizzy. He was Lord Sesshomaru the Tai-youkai of the Western Lands he did not get dizzy! The feeling only intensified and mixed with a new feeling.

Loneliness, was the new feeling that surfaced within him, it was not a feeling he had felt since he had Kagome. He could feel the warmth that Kagome had placed within him once again turning to ice as he reverted back to his old self.

The room began to spin and he swayed in a circular motion trying to stay upright, but he was in a losing battle. Soon the Great Sesshomaru Lord of the Western Lands blacked out and began his descent to the floor.

Before he could hit however his form was taken from the room as if he was not there to begin with.
