Drowning


Kagome was sitting on Kurama's lap running her fingers through his long red hair. It felt so good just to touch him again. He had his head buried against her chest. Kuronue was walking around the room talking, a servant had just brought up a bowl of water. He swore he stunk like that jailer, he wouldn't touch Kagome while smelling like a bear.

There was soft knock at the door, all three looked up. "It's Rin better get it. I think she needs to talk to you love." Kurama let her get up.

Kagome opened the door, sure enough it was Rin. She was smiling like usual but there was unshed tears in her eyes. Kagome reached out to her, "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I was just wondering if you'd go on a walk with me real quick. I know they just came back and you'll wish for some time alone."

"Don't worry about that, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have them back." She turned to them. "I'll be back in a while."

"Of course," Kurama watched the door close behind her. "Maybe I should have a talk with Hiei."

"Why?" Kuronue began undressing.

"Come now, don't tell me your nose is broken. Surely you smelt him on Rin."

"No I didn't. I couldn't smell anything pass myself. Besides you're the one that had her in your arms."

"True, you do stink and I was carrying her. Seems my friend has taken up with her. Wonder if Sesshoumaru knows that they've slept together." Kurama was sure that he did, not much went unnoticed by the Lord.

"Well, that doesn't make any sense. If he was bedding her why did he act the way he did when we showed up. One would think that his lover had just been kidnapped and then returned, he would atleast acknowledge her." Kuronue looked at him. "He didn't even talk to her until she asked about the one girl. Thinking of that I saw him with the small blue haired girl a while ago. Whats the story with her?"

"Yes Yukina, its complicated. I assure you that Hiei has no romantic intentions towards her. Rin however is a different story."

"Well, I feel sorry for the girl myself."


Rin didn't speak until they were down the hall. She wasn't sure if she could keep from crying. "Kagome."

"Yes Rin."

"Remember when we discussed my feelings for that one person?"

"You mean your feelings for Hiei." Kagome saw the look of shock cross the girl's face. "Yes, I know its easy to see when you are there yourself."

"Ummm okay. Well something kind of happened."

"You just weren't as loud as Shizuru and Kouga." Kagome laughed at Rin's blush.

"Yes! But the thing is I think he loves someone else. I know he loves someone else."

"You mean Yukina."

"Yes," Rin sighed and looked down at the floor. So everyone knew about those two. She had to be the world's biggest idiot.

"I'm not sure what to tell you Rin. I can understand what you are going through and I don't envy you. It hurts to love someone thats in love with another person. I went through it with Inuyasha, I know what I did."

"What?"

"I loved him regardless. I took what relationship I could. But what you do is entirely up to you. Don't let yourself get hurt."

"Okay, thanks Kagome. I'm going to head to the bathing house now," Rin smiled and took off. Kagome made her way back to the room.

Rin found the bathing house empty, which she preferred. Only family members and guest were allowed to use the hot springs located on the estate. It was off of the main house, Sesshoumaru had it closed in building a room around it. Rin loved coming here to bath, it was so much better than a cold bath.

She took off her clothes and folded them neatly on the chair. She always wondered why a chair had been placed inside. One day she came to the conclusion Lord Sesshoumaru liked to sit in it and watch Ayame bathe. Rin walked over to the linen closet, she took out a towel, rag and a robe. She'd been in such a rush to get here, she'd forgotten to stop by her room for clean clothes. She placed them on the chair also.

She stuck a foot in the water, it was hot. The door swung open and she turned to see who was invading her privacy. Her heart dropped at seeing Akita standing there. She had wiped off most of the blood, enough for Rin to see her smiling.

"Lucky me, I was on my way out of here. My suprise to see the bane of my existence going into the bathing house alone. Poor Rin all alone. Really dear you should be more careful. What will Sesshoumaru do when he comes down later for his bath to find that you accidently slipped, bumped your head and drowned."

"Why would you want to kill me?"

"Where should I start? First its your fault that Sesshoumaru was taken from me, you made sure Ayame got him. Then you somehow caught the attention of Kado, stealing him from me. Now, I can't even fall back on my pathetic mate. You somehow managed to make sure your friend took him from me. Everything I have ever wanted was taken from me because of you." She charged the human girl.

Rin screamed when the woman grabbed her by the shoulder. She felt herself being thrown backwards and reached out, her hand caught a handful of blonde hair. She was suddenly in the water, the steamy water soaked her. She stood up gasping for air, trying to get the hair out her face. Water splashed behind her before her hair was grabbed, her head was being forced back under the water. Her fingers came up to claw at the hands holding onto her head.

Akita snatched her head up, to sneer at her. "Not so tough without that bitch are you."

Rin brought her elbow back landing it into the wolf's stomach, her hair was released. She tried to climb out, she got halfway out before her feet were yanked suddenly. Rin felt herself go down, her head connected with the edge as she was pulled back in. Hot searing pain throbbed in her head as she went under the water. She looked under the water when she felt a hand on her head. Bitch was really trying to drown her.

She tried to struggle against the hand holding her down, she tried to kick at the wolf's legs. Her feet impacted but it didn't seem to faze the pissed off woman. Rin's chest start stinging from holding her breath for so long. She wouldn't let bitch kill her. Instead of trying to push her head up to breath she relaxed and went down. The hand let go, Rin could see the legs walking towards the edge, soon they were out the water. She waited until she heard what she thought was the door closing. She didn't waste any time, she got up, taking in a deep breath.

Rin quickly stumbled out the water; she was pissed. Heedless of her clean robe dropping to the floor and that she was naked. She grabbed the chair off the floor. She slung the door open and charged out. "Akita." The blonde wolf was casually strolling away. She turned in time for the chair to come crashing down against her face.

"I'll kill you." Rin screamed as the woman looked up at her. She threw herself on the woman going for her throat. The guard on duty ran as soon as he saw his lord's ward attack the wolf. Rin felt claws digging into her arms, and blood oozing down. Still she held onto the woman's throat.

Akita decided if she was going to die, she'd take the little bitch with her. She took the dagger kept at her waist out, she plunged it into the girl's side. Rin felt the sharp pain and her hands loosened. The knife was yanked out, Rin fell to her side. The wolf was soon sitting on her stomach holding her down. Rin felt her vision start to blur as her body tried to repair itself. She saw the woman bring the dagger up aiming for her heart.

Akita brought the dagger down, she'd cut the girl's heart out. She screamed in anger as the girl managed to grab the knife halting it's progress. She put all her strength into it, Rin wouldn't be able to hold it off forever. Rin felt the blood oozing down her hands, as the blade cut into the tender flesh of her palms. Her grip was starting to slip and the knife came down another inch.

Akita smiled down at her, "Give it up you're going to die." She sensed someone beside her and turned to see red eyes. Her head was sent flying through the air to land on the ground several feet away.

Rin stared up in disbelief at the neck shooting blood all over her. The body was shoved aside, leaving the knife in her hands. She rolled over onto her knees and proceeded to take in deep breaths. Someone was leaning beside her, she felt a hand go to the hole in her side. Her eyes came up to find Hiei trying to tend to her wound. "Ouch."

Sesshoumaru appeared beside them. "How bad is she injured?"

"Bad, she was stabbed in the side. It looks to be healing though."

Ayame came out with Shizuru on her heels. "Oh my. Shizuru will you go in the bath house there and grab a towel and a robe."

Shizuru ran into the building and found the towel and robe discarded on the floor. Her eyes ran over the floor and spotted the blood on the edge of the pool, along with the water all over the place. She ran back out handing the towel to Ayame.

Ayame went to her knees and helped Rin put on the robe. The towel was pressed against the wound, trying to catch the blood flow. "Are you okay?"

"What the fuck happened?" Kouga along with everyone else came out to see what all the fuss was about. He looked over to see his mate's body minus the head. "Who fucking killed her?"

"I did." Hiei spoke.

"Why?"

"She was trying to kill Rin." Sesshoumaru spoke.

"It looks like it started in there. There's blood and water everywhere." Shizuru added.

Ayame grabbed Rin's chin forcing her to look her in the eyes. "Rin what happened?"

"I was going to bathe, she came in and said everything was my fault. She tried to drown me. She left me for dead."

"So you got pissed and ran after her didn't you." Sesshoumaru scolded her. "That was very stupid of you Rin, you could have been killed."

"Sorry."

"Don't you dare yell at her dammit." Ayame screamed at him. Everyone was suprised to see him take a step back. "She only did what anyone here would have done. She was standing up for herself, don't you dare lecture her."

"Can I finish my bath now?" Rin felt her head throbbing but her side no longer hurt. Why was everyone staring at her like she'd grown a tail?

"Yes, you go get cleaned up. We'll take care of everything out here. Do you need help getting inside?" Ayame stood up.

Rin rose pulling the robe around herself, her legs started to buckle. Arms swept under her and she found herself being held. She looked up to see Hiei's face looking directly at Sesshoumaru. She felt herself being carried over to the bathing house.

Sesshoumaru took a step forward, with every intention of stopping the cocky little bastard. He felt a hand go to his chest, Ayame shook her head. "Let him go. I think he's earned the right to claim her."
