A Pleasant Evening
A Pleasant Evening
Kagome was dressed in a blue sun dress, she didn't want to wear anything too nice. It was only to the movies. She sat on her bed pulling her jewelry box out. Her hand soon found the half she had kept. Her fingers stroked over the jewel. Tears sprang to her eyes wondering what Koronue had done with the one she'd given him. Probably threw it away as soon as he left with Youko. Or gave it to some youkai woman while trying to get in her panties. Why had he left her that morning? She really didn't want to accept the truth. She'd been a mere distraction while his partner had been away. Her heart ached remembering how he tried to give her a chaste kiss and she'd been stupid and threw herself at him. He had pulled away and walked out of her life. He hadn't even looked back. He'd been trying to break their relationship off gently.
A knock on the door brought her out of her musings. She placed her half back in the box. She wiped her tears and ran down the stairs. Her brother was at the door talking to Shuichi. Souta turned when he saw his sister. "Are you sure you should be going out?"
"I'm fine."
"Umm, okay. Have a good time then."
They didn't speak on the drive over to the theatre. Kagome took the time to study him. He was very graceful. His long fingers changed gears with ease, light movements. She suddenly wondered what it would feel like to have those finger running over her. She blushed and berated herself for such thoughts. She didn't know him and yet she was having nasty thoughts.
The movie turned out to be good, about vampires. She had always been fascinated with vampire and werewolf movies. Shiuchi turned out to be very polite and easy to talk to. He soon pulled her into a conversation during the movie. They continued it after when she accepted his invitation to a late dinner. Being with him kind of reminded her of the long talks with Koronue. Yet something was different.
She'd felt comfortable around the bat youkai and her nerves were on edge the whole time with Shuichi. She knew she was attracted to him. There was no denying it. When he placed his hand on her arm she felt her whole body come alive. Throughout the evening she caught him staring at her with a strange look in his eyes. She couldn't place it.
Then it was time to go home. He walked her up to the door, "So have I earned the right to ask you out again?"
"Sure, why not. Are you going to?"
He gave her a charming smile, "Will you go out with me next weekend? Say friday same time?"
"I'd like that."
"Great," He leaned forward and placed a quick kiss on her mouth.
Kagome sighed, there was that feeling again. He bid her goodnight and left her at the door.
Kagome sat at the table staring at her new 'boyfriend.' They'd been going out every weekend for the last three months. He worked in the week with his stepdad she learned. She'd been over to dinner with his family twice already. Kagome found that she really liked his mother. She soon learned a lot about him. Every friday they'd go out, on saturday's they'd spend the day together. For the last two sundays she'd had dinner with his family.
He was turning out to be very sweet, polite and he seemed to care for her. Kagome wasn't sure how to feel about everything. When she looked at him not only did she feel a strong attraction she was forming feelings for him. He was so unlike the first man she'd fallen in love with. Inuyasha had been rude, loud and obnoxious. The only thing that bothered her was that he hadn't introduced her to any of his friends.
She knew he had them. But she didn't want to push him. She didn't want to push another man away. He reached across the table and grabbed her hand grabbing her attention. "What do you say we go back to my place?"
Kagome looked up into his eyes, his intent was clear. The most they'd done these last few months had been to kiss. Of course each one left her breathless and extremely aroused. She wasn't sure if she was ready. True it was just after lunchtime if she changed her mind he'd surely take her home. "Okay."
He put his arm around her as they walked out the diner. "I need to stop somewhere quick, then we will head on over. You don't mind do you?"
"Course not."
