Getting Out

AN: I'd like to thank those that have reviewed so far. And if anyone was disappointed with the lemon, I was trying to be realistic. It was the first time for both. So naturally it would be a little rushed without much foreplay. If Yusuke automatically knew how to eat snatch it just wouldn't be kosher. Know what I mean. = )

Chapter Sixteen

Kurama was headed into the opening leading into the youkai den. Yusuke and Sango were down here somewhere. If Hiei was right this main tunnel would lead him straight into the den. Hiei had offered to go after them but Kurama had needed time away from Kagome. She was an enigma. A very frustrating one. If he tried to get close she would clam up and push him away. He was use to girls wanting him without question. He was going to have to work to get her. Sweet words and a charming smile wasn't going to do it. A big part of him was glad to find she wasn't as shallow as all the other females he'd known. His Yoko side wanted nothing but to bed the girl. The need to bury himself in the girl's body was strong. Yet he knew the part of him that was Shuichi didn't sit well with the idea. Both parts wanted her no doubt. Yet the girl was pure, never knowing a man's touch. He decided he wouldn't start a relationship with any human female, he might find it in himself to bed one though. He didn't want to burden himself with having a female accepting both parts of his life. It would take a very understanding woman to love him as Shuichi then she'd have to agree to let him go once he decided to return to the Makia to finish living as Yoko. It would be too much on one person and he wouldn't ask that of anyone.

He heard voices coming from up ahead and slowed his pace. He recognized Yusuke's voice and went to greet him. He rounded the bend to come face to back with both people he'd been searching for. They were standing in an antichamber with their backs turned to him. From the sound they were arguing over which way was out. His nose picked up a disturbing scent, his eyes went wide. No wonder they'd been so long in returning. Yusuke's scent covered the girl and not just on her skin. His very aura had made a lasting impression on the girls. Something had happened to cause his friend to mark the girl. He'd done more than just claimed her. She was officially his, in every sense of the word. "Its this way guys." He caused them both to jump.

Yusuke almost pissed himself. "Dammit, you stupid fox. Don't sneak up on us like that." He was ready to get out of the ground and into some fresh air. He'd already stuck his foot in his mouth one time too many to count. The first time had been right after, he'd rolled off her to lay beside her. Guilt had assualted him, knowing that Keiko would be hurt when she found out. Her name had slipped out without him meaning it too. Sango heard it, it had practically whispered in her ear. She'd found the small blanket and stormed out. Within minutes she returned fully dressed with both weapons again. "I'm leaving." Then he'd gotten them lost not too long ago. When she tried to correct their way he'd opened his mouth again. He'd shouted at her, "Don't be fucking stupid, he said to take a right." It landed him an uppercut for his outburst.

Sango was more than happy to see the red head. "Where is Kagome?" She was ready to get away from Yusuke. Hearing his intended's name had brought reality crashing down on her. It reminded her that while it had been something she would always remember and cherish. It had been a big mistake for him. He didn't have to worry about her blabbing to the girl. She felt bad enough having slept with another woman's man. She wouldn't further humiliate herself.

"She's with Hiei not far from the exit. Follow me you two, Hiei has some news for us." He heard them step in behind them. From their expressions, he guessed the honeymoon was over. The tension in the air was thick enough to be cut with a knife. Hiei was sure to notice what had happened but the fire demon would keep the information to himself. He wasn't one to put his nose in another's business. They walked for another ten minutes before the opening could be seen.

Sango welcomed the fresh air as it hit her lungs. It felt so good to be out of there. Now she needed someplace to take a bath. Kurama was leading them away once again. She walked behind both men, dragging her feet suddenly. Should she tell her best friend about what had happened? Would Kagome understand? She knew most demon's would be able to sense the mark he'd placed upon her. Luckily, it was only a youkai thing. It meant nothing to humans, which still left him free to marry Keiko. To human's marking your mate was nothing better than scribing your name on their forehead. Kurama had surely sensed it but had kept it to himself. If Keiko ever found out it would be by one of them, not her.

Kagome saw them come into the clearing. She jumped up squeeling causing Hiei to jump at the sound. She rushed forward and threw her arms around Sango. "I was so worried about you. I'm glad you are safe."

Sango returned the hug, wincing slightly. "I see you are just fine also." She needed to wash and soon. She turned to the red head. "Is there somewhere close for me to wash up. I got really dirty down there."

Kurama almost laughed at the silent insult. "Yes, I'll show you the stream I found last night." Both girls followed him leaving Yusuke with Hiei.

"What about Keiko?" he asked.

"What about her?" Yusuke leaned against the tree trying to ignore the glare the fire demon was giving him. "What happened means nothing."

"Then why did you mark her?" Hiei usually did keep to himself. But he'd sensed the change in both upon entering the clearing. Yusuke hadn't changed much. The girl's aura had cried out to him. She had been marked by the idiot when he was still planning to still marry Keiko. He could see the how deep her scars ran. They were almost as deep as his own. If the detective wasn't careful he'd end up breaking the girl in more ways than one. She appeared strong on the outside which she was. But deep down she was doing a balancing act, one wrong move and she would find herself broken. "You are a fool." He left before a reply could be made.

Yusuke cursed. Things were getting complicated, too complicated for his liking. The best thing that he could do was finish this mission and return to Keiko. He'd put this all behind him. He'd make sure to never see Sango again. Kurama joined him once more. He didn't say anything merely leaned against the tree and rested.

Kagome stripped along with Sango. The girl kept her back to her for some odd reason. Sango leaned down to place her weapons within reaching distance. The miko snuck up on her to see what was wrong. Her eyes filled with shock at seeing the appearance of dried blood on her friend's thighs. "Sango?"

She looked up with tears in her eyes. They slid down her face. Kagome pulled her close, not caring that both were naked. She held her stroking her back. The girl spoke, "Why did I do it?"

"What did you do?" Kagome had a good idea but felt the girl had to say it in order to come to terms with it.

"I..I.slept with Yusuke." Having said it the emotions she'd been storing tore from her. "What am I going to do? Kagome he marked me but he's still going to marry her. He still loves her."

"Shhh. It'll be okay. Everything will work out in the end you will see. Remember I've kind of been there. You can't help but to love them even knowing that you will never hold that one special place in their heart. Come lets get you cleaned up." Kagome led her into the water. It was cold but refreshing.

Sango let herself be dragged. She felt a little better after confiding in her friend. The blood was removed as was any evidence of the hours before. The only thing that remained was the change from the mark and in her. No matter what happened she'd get through it. She had survived Miroku's death she would survive this. Time healed all wounds, even if some left scars. Thats all they were scars that proved you were stronger.

They got dressed in silence, no words were needed. A crashing sound was coming from behind them. Kagome reached for her bow, "Sango I left my bow back at the tree."

"Run, get the others."

"I'm not going to leave you alone." Kagome could feel the huge aura approaching. Sango wouldnt' be able to handle it alone.

"I can stall it long enough for you to get the others. There's no other choice, now go." The miko took off hoping they would be able to hear her scream.

Sango waited for it to show itself. Her heart dropped seeing a dragon youkai land in the stream. His left claw was bigger than she was. It's eyes landed on her. Its body was covered in large gold scales, that shimmered as he walked. She prepared for battle but waited for it to move.

It didn't, it merely stood there on all fours peering at her with large blue eyes. "What are you staring at dragon?"

"You," it spoke. For a talking lizard at least he was honest. The voice definately belonged to a male. "Very beautiful, indeed. Tis a shame you are mated. Then again if you'd like I could dispose of him, if you change your mind."

Her face turnt three shades of red. "Who are you?" He didn't look hostile but one could never be too sure.

"Oh excuse my manners. Here maybe this will help ease your fear." A thick cloud appeared and the dragon disappeared. When she could see again he was standing in front of her but in his humaniod form.

Sango gawked. It couldn't be helped. He had long golden hair reaching to his knees, the blue eyes had remained the same. They were the color of the sky after the rain. He had a blue stripe on each cheek and two on each wrist. Sango recognized him as a Lord.
His face almost reminded her of Sesshomaru but his features were softer. "What do you want?"

"Nothing, I was just taking a stroll and picked up your scent. It is most extraordinary. Like a fresh field of jasmine right after it rains. A smell so pure it beckons the nose." He saw the blush creep up her face. "Am I embarrasing you?"

"Slightly."

"That was not my attention, I assure you." He took a step towards the girl. Suddenly a small fire demon was standing in front of the girl blocking his path.

"What do you want dragon?" Hiei snarled.

"Calm yourself, Forbidden One. I was merely chatting with the young lady. I wasn't going to harm her." He turned to address Sango once more. "I caught a scent like it once a long time ago. I never forgot it. Yes, it was some five hundred years ago I believe. Outside a village, a young girl had been sitting with a small boy. That scent stayed with me for some reason. I was just suprised to find it here in the Makai."

"I see," Sango knew he most likely was speaking of her but refused to speak that piece of information out loud.

"Well, I must be going. Maybe we will meet again, my little flower. Until then remember that if you change your mind I will be glad to assist you." He walked off leaving the two alone.

"Why didn't you inform him that it had been you."

"Why bother, does it really matter?" Sango replaced her weapon. "So he liked my scent big deal." The others came up then.

"You are getting slow Kurama." Hiei teased the fox. He knew the reason that neither male had sensed the dragon is because they were concentrating on any threatening aura's. The dragon had not been a threat to anyone. He also felt like slapping the girl for being so naive. A person's scent meant a lot to a demon. If that dragon remembered her scent after five hundred years, he'd be willing to bet that the dragon would gladly take the girl as a mate. Maybe what the detective needed was some competition to get his ass in gear.

"What was that Hiei?" Kurama looked around, the lingering scent of something very powerful was all over the place.

"Hn. Nothing to be concerned with. Just a dragon that liked the way the taijiya smelled." He saw the boy stiffen. "Even I don't find her scent too bad but I don't think I would remember it for over five hundred years."

"Hiei," Kurama turned to look at Sango who was blushing. "Is that part true?"

"How would I know? I don't remember him sniffing me from before." She walked off. Not caring to be the hot topic at the moment. Kagome ran after her this time bow in hand.

So the fox turned back to Hiei. "Surely, you jest."

"I never jest fox." With that he jumped to follow the girls.
