A Goddess from the Past

Chapter 17

When Kagome awoke, she could feel something soft and furry underneath her, which immediately told her that something was wrong. As she tried to get up, pain erupted from every part of her body.

‘Kagome!’. She looked over and saw Kouga rush over to her, his face filled with worry. ‘Kouga? What… Where am I?’, she stuttered. The wolf demon helped prop her up against the animal skins. ‘I had caught the scent of your blood, and so when I got to you, you were hurt quite badly and unconscious. From there, I brought you here to my den, where you have been since. Are feeling a bit better now?’.

Kagome flushed bright red as she realized what had happened, ‘Um… Yes, I’m feeling much better… Thank you for all you’ve done, I really appreciate this, Kouga. I have one question though… When you… err… Found me, did you happen to see Sesshomaru anywhere?’, Kagome asked.

Kouga thought for a moment, ‘Sesshomaru… the useless mutt’s brother… No, I did not sense him there, though the entire area smelled of a dog demons…’. Kouga stopped there, realizing that Kagome’s features were different and resembled a full-fledged demon. ‘Kagome… You’ve become…’, he said in awe.

‘Yes, Kouga… I haven’t seen you since I last defeated Naraku. Lots of things have happened and it will take a while to explain, and seeing as it doesn’t look like I’ll be going anywhere anytime soon, sit back and I’ll tell you what has happened then…’.

~In the Western Lands~

After finishing his meal, Sesshomaru headed straight to his study, hoping to get some work done. ‘Now that the demoness isn’t here, I will have no worries in the world about unnecessary things. Life will be back to what it was like before, quiet and peaceful’.

Soon enough, Sesshomaru realized that quiet was not as good as he remembered. After dinner, the only sound that could be heard was Jaken’s constant squabbling. Once, his beast would have told him to go and knock Jaken unconscious, but now nothing seemed to matter anymore. He felt hollow, now that he was truly alone.


Kouga didn’t know how Kagome could still smile and tell him that everything was okay, especially after going through so much pain and sorrow. ‘Kagome…’. He leaned forward and hugged the demoness. ‘Don’t worry anymore… I will always be here for you…’, he whispered.

When he touched her, Kagome wasn’t sure how to react. Her body stiffened at first, and she remained silent and motionless. 'Don’t worry anymore… I will always be here for you…’. As soon as she heard that, her mind went blank and tears slipped down her face as she began to cry into Kouga's pelts.

Heart wrenching sobs could be heard in the cave as the emotions Kagome had held back erupted from within her. She could feel his hands rubbing her back and his soothing voice by her ear, but despite that, it seemed like nothing could ever heal what was broken within her.

‘It all… happened so quickly… I still remember… when we first mated… how… how I thought… that we would be together… forever…’, Kagome sobbed. Kouga was clueless on what to do, and his only reply was to rub her back and hug her tighter.

An hour later, Kagome fell asleep from exhaustion, leaving Kouga to watch the sorrow filled demoness sleep, her face still stained with tears. Kouga could feel his beast starting to emerge, as his hate for Sesshomaru grew larger by the second. Knowing that there wasn’t anything he could do for Kagome at the moment, he ran out, determined to seek revenge on the one who hurt HIS Kagome.


‘Damnit! Where the hell did he disappear off to…’, Inuyasha cursed. He had run as fast as he could, just to keep up with Sesshomaru, and now, he was tired as hell and didn’t have a clue where Sesshomaru went.

Sesshomaru… There was something weird going on with him, other than the fact that he attacked Inuyasha butt naked. Something about his aura… It seemed purely demonic. His eyes, also showed no control whatsoever, and instead of their usual cold, emotionless glare, they were filled with evil, greed and hatred.

‘Well… Whatever that bastard’s pissed off about, I hope I’m not the one who caused it… Shit… Now how am I going to find Kagome?’. He sniffed the air, and caught a faint whiff of a wolf. Looking around, he noticed that he was in wolf territory and that the approaching aura was most likely Kouga.

‘Oi! Stupid wolf! What the hell are you doing here?’, he called out. Before he knew it, Kouga was at his side, growling furiously. ‘Where… is Sesshomaru…?’, his hand gripping on to Inuyasha’s neck. ‘Why are you looking for him?…’, Inuyasha questioned cautiously.

‘He hurt Kagome, so I’m going to kill that bastard for doing that… And you… You did as well… You’re not even alive anymore, you’re made of clay… Just like your undead bitch!’. Inuyasha could feel Kouga’s grip tighten, making Inuyasha realize that he was not kidding. ‘I don’t know… where Sesshomaru is…’, Inuyasha stuttered. Using is final ounce of strength; he pried Kouga’s hand off, making the wolf demon stumble back in surprise.

‘I’m looking for Sesshomaru too… But just a word of caution… He isn’t in the right state of mind right now, and he will stop at nothing to find Kagome. If we can find out where Kagome is, then that’s where he is headed…’, Inuyasha said.

Kouga’s demon backed off, allowing Kouga to think properly. ‘Kagome…’, he whispered before running off as he realized. Not knowing what just happened, Inuyasha stood there, trying to figure out if he was missing something. ‘Oh fuck! How could I have just let him run away?!’, and with that said, the white haired hanyou ran after the wolf.

Another day had gone by, and it was nighttime again. Sesshomaru sat quietly in a corner, reading in the candlelight. Sleep evaded him, as it had done before Kagome entered his life. He would feel extremely tired at times, but when he tried to sleep, it would never come to him, not matter how hard he tried.

‘Damn that demoness… None of this would have happened if she didn’t interfere with me. I should have killed her when I had the chance. No… I still have the chance. I’m going to find her… And put an end to all of this…’.


Her eyes hurt, her throat hurt, her body hurt; EVERYTHING hurt. Kagome wished that everything would just disappear, all the pain, all the sorrow… all the memories. Suddenly, a wave of nausea came across her and the only thing she could think of was running out of the cave as quickly as she could before she threw up on everything.

As soon as she got outside of the cave, she emptied her stomach until only bile came out. ‘Oh gods… I feel awful…’, Kagome thought to herself. Ginta and Hakkaku were soon at her side, arguing with each other what about what to do. ‘Kagome nee-san… Are you okay?…’, Ginta asked.

Spitting the remaining liquids from her mouth, Kagome managed to gasp out, ‘I’m fine… Probably just some bad food…’. Ginta and Hakkaku helped her up and looked nervously at her. ‘Would you like some water? Can we get you something to eat? Are you feeling okay now?’, they asked continuously.

Kagome smiled at them, ‘I’m okay now… I was just wondering if… there was a hot springs or river nearby?’. ‘Oh! There’s one inside the cave! It’s Kouga’s private bathing room, but I’m sure he won’t mind if you use it! Just come with me!’, Hakkaku replied.

As soon as she was sure Ginta and Hakkaku were gone, Kagome mindlessly started to remove the clothing Kouga had given her. Life had been one big blur, and Kagome could barely remember anything that had happened the past few weeks. Her stomach growled, reminding her of the horrible feeling she had had that morning. ‘I haven’t eaten in ages… So, how is it that I still felt so horrible? And… Why is my period 2 weeks off schedule?’.

Her heart was racing as panic overwhelmed her. She didn’t know what was happening to her body, and it scared her to no ends. ‘I need to get back to the future…’, she thought to herself. Without wasting a moment, she clothed herself and had run out of the cave within a blink of an eye, heading straight for the well.


Sesshomaru could sense 3 different demonic auras heading same way that he was. One was his beast, another was the wolf demon, and the last was most likely the stupid half-demon. His eyes widened as he realized that there was another aura that was heading away from where he was headed, and knew that it had to be that demoness. ‘Hmph. She thinks that she can outsmart this Sesshomaru… I’ll show her’.

Kagome was relieved when she saw the well ahead of her. She ran as fast as she could, her heart pounding wildly. Just as she got reached the rim of the well, a hand grabbed on to the back of her clothing and tore off the outer part of her kimono, but before who she could see who it was, Kagome plunged into the well, not once looking back.


His heart pounded against his ribcage, as Kouga desperately searched for Kagome. Her aura seemed to have completely vanished from the area and the only thing left was her lingering scent. ‘Damn… I was too late…’. Behind him, he could hear a long string of curses from a certain half-demon. ‘STUPID WOLF! HOW COULD YOU JUST LEAVE HER?! ARE YOU HONESTLY THAT STUPID?!?’, Inuyasha continued to ramble on. ‘God… This is going to be a VERY long day…’, Kouga muttered to himself.


Sesshomaru clenched the cloth in his hand, knowing something was horribly wrong. The scent… Kagome was…
