Part Seventeen


Inuyasha cradled Kagome in his arms while leaning back against the porch beam on top of the steps. The events of the day before ran over and over in his mind. First there was the fight with those accursed Thunder Brothers then the hard work to help clean up. He didn’t have anything else to do since Kagome was shut up in the shrine with that old man the rest of the day and into the night. After everyone else had gone to bed, two stayed up talking. He still didn’t feel safe leaving her alone so he sat outside like a faithful puppy waiting for its mistress to grace him with her presence. He shook his head at the thought. Sometimes that is how he felt even though inside he knew Kagome didn’t think of him that way. She had always shown him respect and love. There were times he was too blind to see it and did stupid things that would cause her anger or hurt but she always forgave him. He knew he didn’t deserve her but his heart would never give her up either. As if reading his mind, she pulled his arms around her tighter.

He was till having some thoughts about the conversation between her and the old man. Even though he didn’t understand a lot of it, there were other things he had no doubt were true considering everything that had happened since her return. The words of the old man still rang in his mind clear as a bell.

~*~*Flashback~*~*

“You’re dealing with the spirits of hell Kagome. You will need every ounce of your power to fight it but the biggest obstacle will be keeping Kikyo from stealing your power to use against the rest who fight her. She has become similar to a succubus and will feed off your soul if you are not careful.” Master Yamura’s wise old voice spoke clearly full of remorse. There was a long stale silence that settled between them. Inuyasha could feel the mixed emotions flooding through Kagome. She was hurting inside in a way he couldn’t sooth her. His ears flicked toward her when he heard her faint voice from within.

“Is..is there...any way...” She stuttered but paused to think out her question. He could feel her stress and confusion through their mating bond but all he could do was try to send back comforting feelings to sooth her. She sighed and relaxed some gathering her thoughts. “Is there some way to stop her? I guess what I’m asking is how can I keep her from feeding off my power. I don’t remember any lessons covering that sort of thing.” She said frustrated again. He focused on the soothing thoughts to calm her and it continued to help her relax.

“No, you wouldn’t remember any lessons on such a subject. It isn’t something that I teach to most of my students. I teach only the ones who show the greatest promise in becoming a priest or priestess. I knew from the way you spoke of your hanyou friend that your path lay in a different direction. Kikyo was a different matter. She showed great promise in taking the oath of a priestess but then she strayed away from the teachings. I don’t really know why but that is in the past and of little help to us now. Whatever made her stray might have some impact on her reasoning now but I don’t believe it likely. Unfortunately she learned enough to know some of the secrets that could be gained if one looked in the right places.

She also knows how to read the power level in other beings and most likely will use that to her advantage. Now that she has acquired The Tama no Jigoku, you will need to learn The Ways of Tengoku to combat her effectively. First we will train you how to protect yourself and others. You do remember how to meditate?” He questioned her calmly.

“Yes Yamura-sama. I actually remember quite a bit.” Kagome’s heart seemed to skip a beat at the mention of her lessons. Inuyasha would be the first to admit he didn’t understand most of what she learned but he didn’t question her about it. She didn’t question him when he would train with his sword so it only seemed fair not to bother her about her lessons. Now he wished he had asked more questions. He heard rustling of clothing as they moved inside.

“We have some time now since your friend is quite handy with sutra and ofudo scriptures. He has reinforced the shrine grounds effectively and I don’t think we will be having any problems for a while. First we will have to place incantations on your body to protect your soul. Second once you have learned to focus your power properly then we will begin the exercises to strengthen them so you won’t have to use the incantations. All you will need is to focus in your mind. The hardest part will come after that.” Master Yamura’s voice went silent but he could feel the anxiety building in Kagome again. He really wished he could be in there with her. Then he heard the distinctive sound of paper like a scroll being opened. “I’m afraid the only thing that will help you defeat the powers from that book will be The Shikon no Tama.” Kagome gasped.

“But I thought that was only a legend.” She stammered out. Yamura chuckled.

“Most do my dear but then if you think about it, The Tama no Jigoku was thought of as a legend as well. There are only a few that still have the knowledge of its existence. With any luck, Kikyo hasn’t even thought of the possibility of it yet. That will give you the opportunity to retrieve it first.” He waited for her to absorb everything so far.

“This is a lot to think about.” She confessed.

“I’m afraid you don’t have much time to think. You are our only hope. If you fail, I fear the world as we know it will change into something worse then what the world was like during the Sengoku Jidai. I want you to understand that with the kind of power she wields, she can summon not only the spirits of terrible creatures into the corpses of others like the two that were destroyed here but also nightmarish creatures with such terrible power there are no words to describe them.” Yamura’s voice sounded very grave. Inuyasha felt the shiver that ran through Kagome’s senses when Yamura told her this.

“I understand and will do whatever I can to stop her but I don’t even know where to begin.” She said down heartedly.

“Don’t be upset. As I said before, there are few who know of its existence. I happen to be one that does. Now we will start with your meditation skills. We need to hone your focus ability.” Inuyasha heard the shift of cloth again and knew they sat down. He hung his head as aggravation began to settle in his bones. It was going to be a while longer.

At the moment she was taking a break from all the learning. It felt so nice just to hold her like this again. He could stay like this forever and say to hell with the world but Kagome wouldn’t let that happen so he would enjoy it while he could. She shifted in his arms a bit breaking him out of his thoughts.

“Are you ok koi?” He whispered in her ear and took the opportunity to kiss her ear. She giggled at him. Her slender hand reached up to stroke his ear gently in response. He closed his eyes cherishing the way her soft fingers rubbed his ears just right. For once he didn’t really mind the purring sound that escaped from his chest. It felt too good to have her attentions again to let anything interrupt it. The feelings she invoked with such a simple act were mind boggling to him and he had learned to accept them all the same but only for her. He felt the familiar warmth begin to build in his body the longer she stroked his ears. When her fingers slide from the base to the tip then back down he couldn’t contain the moan of pleasure. “You keep that up and I’ll have to take you out in the woods and do something about it.” His tongue ran down the shell of her ear suggestively sending a shiver through her petite body.

“Mhmm.” She replied and leaned into his caresses while still rubbing his ears. “You know there is a hot springs not too far from here.” She whispered as she turned her head so her tongue ran along his jaw line. A shudder ran through his whole body. He immediately turned his head and captured her lips in a heated kiss. Her sweet tongue coaxed his into a battle of wills. He growled with approval and it was all he could do to keep from taking her right there in the open. Finally he broke the kiss leaving both of them breathing hard. He cleared his throat and looked around the grounds but there didn’t seem to be anyone paying any attention to them.

“So where exactly is this hot springs you were talking about?” He nipped the side of her neck playfully making her giggle.

“I’ll have to show you but first we need to tell someone where we’re going.” She gave him a peck on the check before standing. She saw Sango not too far away and trotted over to her. They chatted for a moment while he waited. They were giggling like a couple of school girls. He didn’t know how much longer he could wait so he stormed over to stand behind her with his arms crossed looking as impatient as he could. She turned and looked at him and winked. “Ok well I will remember that. Anyway, we’re going on a walk. Tell Master Yamura that I will be back in a while and not to worry. Inuyasha will be with me. I just need sometime to...you know...think about things.” Kagome couldn’t stop from glancing at Inuyasha who blushed. Sango looked from one to the other and smiled.

“Right I’ll be sure to tell him that.” She chuckled and went back to doing what she had been. Inuyasha grabbed Kagome’s hand and started to drag her toward the shrine steps but she pulled him to a stop and pointed behind the shrine. He rolled his eyes aggravated and headed that way. Just as they rounded the corner he looked around quickly to confirm no one was there then crouched down in front of her.

“Get on, it’ll be faster.” He said huskily. She grinned and slipped on his back. He smirked as he stood and tucked his hands under her knees. A gasp escaped her when he pulled her groin flush with his back.

“Inuyasha, you know what that will do.” She said just above a whisper.

“I’m counting on it.” He chuckled and sprang into the air toward the first tree branch. She clutched his shoulders tightly as he gained speed.

“Don’t you want me to tell you where they are?” She said breathlessly. He shook his head.

“I can smell it.” He said quickly before landing on a branch. ‘And you.’ He held in a dark chuckle when she moaned. He knew from experience that if he held her tightly against his back she would get turned on more. At least that is the way it used to be when they were teenagers. Of course he didn’t tell her he could smell her arousal from riding on his back. He always liked the way she smelled but would never admit it then. Actually if he really thought about it, she would have accused him of being as perverted as Miroku. She moaned again as her scent spiked. He held back a groan of his own. His crotch was getting tighter from the stress caused by his hardening member.

When he landed on the next branch he almost slipped and felt it would be better if he went to the ground so he didn’t fall with her on his back. Her scent was driving him crazy. It was a good thing the springs were close. He didn’t know how much longer he could hold back. Suddenly the forest cleared and the hot spring was in front of him. He stopped just before it and let her down. She was panting hard and he knew from her scent she was as turned on as he was. Without waiting a second more he spun around and captured her lips as his hands went to work on her shirt buttons. Her hands weren’t idle either and slipped under his shirt to dance over his toned muscles.

They kneeled on the ground without breaking lip contact. Both frantic to get the other’s clothes off. Finally the last button was undone and he slipped the shirt down her arms. She slid his shirt up his body breaking their heated kiss only long enough to get it over his head. Her bra followed quickly after. His claws ran down her shoulders pressing just hard enough for her to feel them but not breaking the skin. He moaned low when she ran her fingernails down his spine. His beast wanted to rip the rest of her clothes from her body but his more reasonable side knew she would get angry so he settled for working the snap and zipper as quickly as he could. To his amazement she already had his undone and he even had a belt on. It inspired him more to think she was just as horny as him if not more.

With their clothes discarded, he laid her back on the plush soft mossy ground next to the springs. She didn’t put up any resistance to him when he slipped his knees between her legs and lowered himself to her. She instantly wrapped her legs around his waist so he took it as a signal to enter her and did so. They both moaned in pleasure at the sensation that answered the call of their bodies’ desires. He moved in and out of her at a slow agonizing pace relishing her sighs of pleasure. She felt so damn good around him, he wanted to plunge in hard and fast but wasn’t willing to give up the added excitement caused from her frustrated moans and groans. His left hand cupped her breast kneading it gently while the other ran his claws down her side making her shiver.

His mouth trailed kisses down her jaw to her neck. When he reached the spot on her shoulder where he marked her he nipped it just hard enough to make it hurt a bit. She gasped at the sensation it sent through her then he licked it to sooth the inflamed skin. She sighed in relief only to have him do it again. It sent sparks of electric excitement through her whole body. She couldn’t even begin to explain what it was doing to her. It began to built heat in her system that sent shocks through ever nerve ending. She dug her nails into his back as her muscles began to clamp down on him tighter increasing the friction. He grinned and nipped her again knowing she couldn’t hold out much longer.

“Inu...yasha. Mmmm...oh Kami.” She squirmed under him as he pleasured her. The heat was so immense she couldn’t have said where she stopped and he began. His fingers slid down her body until he touched her bundle of nerves. This he stoked in time with his thrusts causing her to moan loudly. Her muscles became so tight he was straining to hold back. Finally she clamped down on his throbbing member followed by screaming his name. He lost it and followed her with one more hard thrust. He remained impaled within her warm sheath while they caught their breath. Most of his weight was rested on his elbows so he wouldn’t crush her and it made it easier for him to look into her content face. She smiled at him then leaned up and kissed him gently. Her face filled with sorrow as she stared into his golden orbs.

“What happened between us?” She felt her eyes begin to water and fought hard to keep control of the tears that threatened to fall. He leaned down and kissed each of her eyes softly.

“The same thing as always. I happened to us.” He sighed and laid his forehead on hers with his eyes close. “Kagome, I can never express how wrong I was or how stupid I’ve been. I can’t even promise that I won’t do other things stupid in the future. What I can say is that I love you more then life. I’ll stay by your side and be there for you no matter what. I...” He was stopped by her finger on his lips. She stared up into his eyes a small smile on her lips. Her finger ran along the outside of his lips softly. He kissed her fingertip then kissed her deeply with all the love he felt in his heart. She responded by running her finger nails down the muscles of his back. His member jumped at the sensation causing a moan in her. He leaned back and grinned at her wolfishly.

“You trying to start something?” He said in a low voice. She smiled and bit her bottom lip.

“Maybe.” She grinned back. His response was to pull out almost all the way then slid back in. They both groaned at the sensation. “Oh baby you do that so well.” She moaned in pleasure. She giggled when he wiggled his eyebrow at her playfully. “But I want to get in the springs.” Before she could say more he leaned back to his knees bringing her with him so they didn’t break their connection and stood. She wrapped her legs around him tightly in surprise.

“Your wish is my command.” He nuzzled her neck getting a giggle out of her as he walked toward the springs.
