Morning's Light

Kat woke up with the morning sun shining in her eyes. She groaned softly and buried her face into a pillow, trying to shield her eyes from the bright light. Why is this pillow not soft she wondered. She then realized that “pillow” was steadily rising and falling beneath her. Not a pillow, but someone’s chest, moving as they breathed. Her eyes snapped open.

She lay in Sesshoumaru’s arms, her legs intertwined with his. Her arms were wrapped around his neck and his were firmly holding her close to him. She looked up to see that he was all ready awake and watching her. She blushed softly. She had never woken up next to someone before and she had definitely never expected to be someone like him.

“Good morning,” he told her smiling gently.

“Good mooring,” she replied. “How did you sleep?” He smiled at her and there was something almost predatory in that smile. One of his hands slowly stroked up and down her leg in a very proprietary fashion. Her breath caught in her throat and she felt her lower body tighten. He acts like I’m his all ready…and I don’t mind it one bit.

“I haven’t slept this well since I was quite young. You make a very comfortable bed partner Katherine.” His words were much more suggestive than his voice was, but she felt a slow warmth begin to uncurl inside her. She looked up at him and pushed herself forward. This man had been driving her out of her mind since the moment she had met him and she intended to give him a bit of his own medicine. She reached a hand up and entangled his hair in her grasp, gently pulling him down towards her. But before their lips could meet, the door swung open and Val and Stacy walked in.

Kat immediately fell back, her face flaming red and glaring at her friends with everything she had. They simply smiled sweetly at her as they walked across the room. She started to extricate herself from his arms, that way she wouldn’t get teased too much later. Sesshoumaru however, did not release her. He kept a protective arm wrapped around her as if he woke up next to her every morning with her friends wandering in without knocking. Wow, she thought nothing fazes him at all.

“You feeling better, Kit Kat?” asked Stacy, completely oblivious to what she had just interrupted. Kat sighed. Stacy would always have the mentality of a teenager, but you couldn’t help loving her. Val much to her credit made no comments at all. But she did give Kat a look that very clearly told her that they would talk later.

“I think so,” she told Stacy. “I just woke up so I haven’t tried to get out of bed yet.” Bullshit, O’Reilly. With what you were about to do, I would say you had plenty of energy. Val nodded as she put the nurse face on.

“Well than, if you can disattach yourself from your man over here, get up and show me. If you’re still having trouble, I’m taking you over to Doc Merovitz before I go to work,” she told Kat. Kat sighed softly and gave herself one more second of laying in his arms before sitting up and climbing out of bed. She walked across the room briefly before turning to see if Val approved.

“Much better,” said Val. “Yesterday you could barely lift a hand.” With that Sesshoumaru sat up and gracefully climbed out of the bed as if it was normal to have three women watching him. My God how can anyone be that damn graceful she wondered, her body still tight and tense from before. He turned to Kat and took her hand, dropping one of those amazingly sensual kisses on it.

“As much as I regret it,” he said,” I need to go. I should get home and then go to the office. The pleasure of your company has caused me to be quite neglectful of my duties during the past day. May I perhaps renew our attempt at dinner tonight?’ Kat let her shoulders slump in disappointment.

“I can’t. Saturdays are reserved for the five of us. It’s kind of a girls night since we don’t ever have the chance for all five of us to get together during the week.” I just keep blowing this left and right, don’t I? To her surprise, he nodded, but didn’t release her hand.

“May I call you then? We can arrange it for another night, perhaps?” She smiled happily. This man was far too good to be true!

“I would love to,” she told him. He kissed her hand one more time and she barely suppressed a moan. If this is what he does to me just by kissing my hand…No Kat, bad, you stop that train of thought right now. He released her hand and turned to the other two girls who were staring at the two of them as if they had suddenly sprouted extra body parts.

“Ladies, dinner was quite enjoyable. We will have to do it again some time. I’ll show myself out.” He bowed and walked out the door. They listened silently until they his footsteps go down the stairs and the front the door close.

“How the hell did he do that, Kat?” asked Val as she collapsed into a chair. Stacy nodded in agreement before flopping down on the bed.

“Do what?” asked Kat as felt her cheeks grow hot.

“Do what? Make me feel like I was watching a porno just by kissing your hand, that’s what!” said Stacy.

“Basically. I felt like I was intruding on something completely private. It felt like I was being a perv just by being in the room. And don’t tell us that you have no clue what we’re talking about. You wouldn’t be that damn red if you weren’t feeling what we just watched,” said Val. Kat sat on the bed next to Stacy, biting her lip. When she looked up however, she had an ear-to-ear grin on her face.

“Yeah I know. Isn’t he amazing? And the crazy part is he hasn’t actually kissed me yet. Just my hand.” Stacy squealed excitedly.

“This like some kind of harlequin romance novel. Oh how utterly perfect!” said Stacy. Val gave her a look of disgust.

“Harlequin romance? You actually read that crap?” she asked. Stacy shrugged, not the least embarrassed.

“Well not all of us are living a fairytale romance right now, unlike some people in this room,” she retorted. Kat blushed and threw a pillow at Stacy. Within seconds the three of them had degenerated into a giant pillow fight, laughing and screeching the whole time.

A few minutes later, they were lying on the bed, trying to catch their breath. Val sat up and pulled her tangled hair back into a ponytail.

“I need to go home and get changed for work. The head nurse is all ready on my back for being on vacation last week. The last thing I need is to make her even more pissed at me for being late. I’ll see you guys tonight. Don’t worry I’ll lock the door behind me.”” They hugged each other good-bye and Val walked out of the room. Stacy flopped over and looked at Kat.

“So are you writing today?” Kat glanced at the clock. It was all ready nearly eleven o’clock. She shook her head.

“Not today. I wanted to run some errands before everyone came over tonight and I won’t have enough time if I start writing today.”

“Want company?”

“Sure. Let me just go take a shower. I really need one.” Stacy grinned evilly.

“I’ll just bet you do,” she said with a wink.

“Stacy, you that I’m not, well that I won’t-“ Stacy cut off her spluttering explanation.

“Yeah, yeah, you’re saving yourself for marriage I know.” She stopped with a speculative look on her face. “But with a guy like that coming around, I don’t know how much of chance you have.” Kat threw another pillow at her before walking over to the bathroom.

“But unfortunately,” she muttered to herself as she shut the bathroom door, “I know she’s right.”
