Kouga Realizes His Feelings
A/N: Sorry I haven’t updated in a while! I still don’t own Inuyasha, but I hope you enjoy the new chapter. Kouga sees Kagome making love to Inuyasha thus deciding that he must let her go. He then realizes that Nikah will start to mean much more to him. Enjoy the long awaited update to my ongoing Kouga saga!
Chapter11: Kouga Realizes His Feelings
Kouga sat down in the soft grass and slumped sadly against the rough trunk of a tree. He didn’t even feel the small tinge of pain as the bark lightly scraped across the backs of his arms. The young wolf demon was much too lost in his thoughts to care if the bark had scratched his skin. ‘Kagome willingly allowed Inuyasha to have her! Even the fact that I would hear them was not enough to quell her desire for that half breed dog! She truly does not see me as a mate.’
He sighed deeply as he continued to ponder over Kagome. ‘She is in love with Inuyasha and always has been. I just refused to see it until it was thrown in my face. No matter, I have a mate of my own now! Nikah is pregnant with my pup and she is where my heart needs to be. I will not continue to love a woman that deliberately gives her affections to another!’ Kouga began to smile to himself as his thoughts settled on Nikah. ‘I will rescue Nikah from that bastard Sesshomaru!’
Marix stared across the campfire at Lucah. The warm glow of the burning flames gently bathed her face giving it an almost heavenly glow. Lucah’s eyes met Marix’s eyes from her place across the campfire. She smiled a little and then quickly looked away. Marix took the opportunity to get up and walk over to join her. Lucah felt a blush creep onto her cheeks as the handsome young wolf demon sat next to her. Her heart started to beat wildly in her chest making a loud thumping noise in her ears. ‘Why am I so nervous? It’s only Marix and I’ve known him all my life!’
Lucah’s hazel eyes darted up a little shocked to find themselves staring into Marix’s own chocolate brown orbs. “So uh.....Marix, you looking forward to fighting with Sesshomaru to rescue Nikah?” “Yeah, but I don’t want to talk about that.” Lucah blushed again as she swallowed desperately trying to create some moisture in her painfully dry throat. “What did you want to talk about then Marix?” He drew in a deep breath and ran a hand nervously through his ebony locks. “Well I uh...I wanted to talk about us.” Lucah’s thin eyebrows arched up in confusion. “What about us Marix?”
His mind began screaming at him to confess his feeling. ‘Don’t just sit there looking stupid you idiot! Say something nice to her!’ Marix cleared his throat as Lucah stared at him awaiting an answer to her question. “Have I ever told you how pretty your eyes are?” “Marix, my eyes are hazel. They’re ordinary.” He shook his head and spoke his mind without having time to convince himself to remain silent. “There’s nothing ordinary about you Lucah.” Lucah felt her cheeks burn brightly from the blush that swept across her face.
“Lucah, you wanna go for a walk with me?” “Sure Marix.” Marix stood and stretched out his hand for Lucah. She allowed him to help her to her feet. Marix led Lucah away from the now quiet campsite. “Where are we going Marix?” “Just walking. No place special really.” Lucah smiled as she felt Marix’s fingers curl around hers gently. “So what did you want us to talk about Marix?” “Well I’ve got something that I’ve been wanting to tell you for a long time now.” Lucah felt her pulse quicken as she wondered what Marix could possibly want to say to her.
“Lucah, we’ve known each other ever since we were babies.” She nodded urging him to continue. “Well it’s just that since we grew up together you’ve been my best friend.” Lucah felt her heart sink a little. “You’re my best friend too Marix. Is that what you wanted to say?” “No. Over the years you have become so important to me and my feelings for you have changed.” “Changed how Marix?” “Lucah, what I’m trying to say is that I’m in love with you!” Her hazel eyes met his brown eyes almost immediately. “Oh Marix! Y-you love me?”
“Yes, with all my heart.” She stood on her tip toes and pressed her lips to his quickly. “I love you too Marix! I was just afraid to tell you because I didn’t think you felt that way about me!” Marix looked over Lucah’s shoulder and saw the moon reflecting off the river. He had not realized that they were already at the riverbank. “Hey Lucah, you wanna go for a moonlight swim?” She grinned broadly. “I would love to. Race you into the water!” The two quickly stripped off their clothes and bolted into the slightly chilly river water.
