Get Bent

I don’t own anything Inuyasha.

Kagome could not gloat over her victory as ‘his’ demon nose picked up a familiar scent. “Inuyasha is almost back. Quick, what do I say if I mess up?”

“...’Mess up’?”

“Yeah,” ‘he’ continued, gesturing wildly… well, wildly for Sesshoumaru. “If I do something ‘not Sesshoumaru’, how do I explain it?”

He crossed ‘her’ arms and replied proudly, “If you are Sesshoumaru, you don’t have to.”

Good point. “You, though, will have to.”

Simultaneously, they sighed before Kagome offered, “If needed, you can say…” and rambled with a long list of excuses, half of which Sesshoumaru had no understanding of.

Every instant seemed to get increasingly disturbing for Sesshoumaru. He tried all morning to ignore the breezes traveling up his bare legs and found himself eavesdropping on the others for a distraction.

“This Sesshoumaru desires this…”

“This one requires you to do that…”

He admonished Kagome’s impression of him. It was truly annoying having her repeat the third person reference to ‘himself’ constantly. ‘She’ looked at the rest of the group to see if they found the display equally as offensive.

Much to his displeasure, no one else seemed to notice a difference.

Surely this… I am not this grating?

*cough cough*

‘Sesshoumaru’ closed his eyes as she ignored the imp’s attempts at getting ‘his’ attention. For fifteen minutes the little green kappa had been relentless, influencing yet another headache as they walked behind the rest. Kagome found that relinquishing the lead to Inuyasha gave him an appeasing amount of comfort she could not deny him, Sesshoumaru’s disapproval be damned.

*siiiigggghhhhh*

I see why he kicks him all the time.

……. *cough*

“Ugh, what, Jaken!?”

Terror overtook the toad-like servant seeing his master out of control and he stuttered his reponse. “Sess-sess-sess-Sesshoumaru-sama, it’s Rin.”

They both glanced over at the unusually quiet child on the dragon’s back. She seemed lost in some sadness, incapable of finding joy even in the large bunch of flowers Jaken had gathered for her earlier.

The retainer continued, speaking into the ground with a low bow. “Per-perhaps this humble servant can lead Rin to a field or play area…”

“No.” Kagome’s heart reached out for the poor child. Though she didn’t know what upset her so deeply, she didn’t think Jaken could bring a smile back. “I will take her.”

‘Kagome’ turned to catch his own golden eyes and gave a small nod of approval.

They walked in silence together, the small girl loyally staying in step. Kagome wanted to find a spot out of earshot of her hanyou friend in case she had to do something un-Sesshoumaru to comfort ‘his’ ward and gain some privacy.

Looking down at her, ‘Sesshoumaru’s’ practiced eyes showed nothing of her concerns over Rin’s drastic shift in demeanor. She wasn’t bouncing, wasn’t smiling, and was eerily quiet. In fact, she hadn’t spoken since they returned from the witch incident. The only spirit the girl showed was by clutching a small, slick wrapped package tightly to her chest.

The scent of flowers wrapped around her and ‘Sesshoumaru’s’ head lifted slightly to find their location. Turning to land 'his' softening golden eyes on Rin’s large, lost brown orbs, ‘Sesshoumaru’ tried to start a conversation.

“Rin, are you okay?”

Her eyes focused more on those belonging to her lord, obvious confusion over ‘him’ asking a question dancing in her eyes.

Kagome tried again warmly. “What do you have in your hands?”

Rin’s confusion became resolution and with a split second determined glare, her demeanor flipped back to normal. Skipping towards the clearing, she called out, “Sesshoumaru-sama will find out soon!”
