Inuyasha-Oniisama, Aishiteru (COMPLETED! BONUS!!!)

“…Kagome-Chan…”



Kagome opened her eyes and found she sitting beneath the large Goshinboku tree next to a ten-year-old Kikyou. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom once more. Sleepily, the six-year-old Kagome sat up from her resting place upon her sister’s lap.



“You fell asleep again, Kagome-Chan.”



”Neechan…I’m sorry, it was just so peaceful.” Kagome giggled.



Kikyou looked at her baby sister, whose short hair barely went past her ears. Kikyou’s herself wasn’t much longer, barely going past her shoulders. Both girls wore the traditional miko’s robes and sat beneath the beautiful Goshinboku tree. Kikyou looked up at the blue sky and smiled.



“Kagome-Chan…”



”Hmm?”



Kagome looked at the smiling face of her ever-calm sister.



“Do you miss Okaasan?”



Kagome looked at her lap for a moment before shaking her head and smiling at her elder sister once more.



“No, because Neechan takes such good care of me!”



Kikyou leaned forward and gently stroked the side of her younger sister’s face.



”I’ll always take good care of you. So will Inuyasha…As a matter of fact, long after I’m gone, he’ll continue to watch over you.”



”Gone…? Neechan, do you plan on going somewhere?” Kagome asked, suddenly gripping Kikyou’s hakama.



Kikyou shook her head and stood up, dusting herself off.



“Nope, not for a long time.”



“Neechan…”



The cherry blossoms blinded Kagome for a moment and Kikyou disappeared in a flurry of cherry blossoms. Kagome opened her eyes once more and saw a nine-year-old Inuyasha extending his hand to her.



“Kagome, c’mon, let’s go. It’s just you and me now.”



“Where’s Neechan?”



“We’ll see her again someday, but until that day comes, I’m gonna take care of you…!” he smiled.



Kagome giggled as she took his hand. It seemed as if everything was moving rapidly in front of her. She saw Inuyasha’s smile, she saw Inuyasha laughing and playing with her; she even saw Inuyasha lick the blood away from her skinned knee when she’d fallen. Kagome closed her eyes, feeling the warmth that only Inuyasha could provide now. Kagome wasn’t sure what had happened to Kikyou, but she knew as long as Inuyasha was with her…she didn’t have anything to fear. The thought made tears spill down her cheeks…

Cold. Despite the darkness that now embraced her, she felt cold.



“Kagome…”



Kagome quickly opened her eyes and found herself standing in front of Kikyou, both of them, naked as the day they were born. Kagome quickly looked around. They were no longer children laughing and playing in the sun, but were back to their respected teenage ages. They stood in a beautiful field with the wind wafting gently through the long grasses.



“Kikyou…?”



“Kagome-Chan…why are you here?”



”Here? Where is here?” Kagome quickly looked around.



“This is the Realm of the Dead. Kagome…why are you here?”



It all came flooding back to Kagome as if she were reliving a horrible dream. She couldn’t stop the tears that flowed down her face, remembering in the place she just was with Inuyasha, she was also crying.



“I…I just couldn’t take being the reason for your death, Kikyou…! Why should I live? Especially…”



She covered her face with her hands, sobbing into them.



“Especially when Inuyasha hates me?”



”Inuyasha does not hate you.” Kikyou replied assumingly.



“Wh…what?” Kagome looked up.



Kikyou waved her hand in front of Kagome, revealing a mirror of sorts Kagome had never seen before. The image in the mirror showed not her reflection of Kikyou’s, but Inuyasha coming up from the river with Kagome’s body in his arms. Her black kimono was falling off of her shoulders, revealing a few bruises she’d probably obtained when she was underwater at the mercy of the current.



“Inuyasha…! He’s…saving me…? But why?” Kagome whimpered.



“Isn’t obvious…?” Kikyou smiled softly.



Inuyasha continued to fight the horrible current to get them both back to land, gritting his teeth as if he were in pain of some sort. Kagome watched him struggle to get both of them back to land. He dug his white claws into the riverbank as he hoisted Kagome onto the bank first before pulling himself to safety as well. He took a minute to catch before looking at Kagome, hesitantly touching her face. Kagome watched Inuyasha pound on the ground before trying his best to breath life into her. After three tries, he clutched her body to his chest. Kagome listened to him apologizing, promising all he could if she’d just open her eyes. Kikyou waved her hand in front of the image and it disappeared. Kagome looked at Kikyou, new tears flowing down her face.



“Kagome…I understand Inuyasha hurt you. But you have to understand…you both need one another to live. Didn’t you promise me that you’d live, Kagome?” Kikyou asked, placing her hand on the side of younger sister’s face.



Kagome nodded, lowering her head in shame.



“But…Kikyou…I can’t betray you like that…if I go back…I’ll be forced to face my feelings for Inuyasha…Kikyou…I can’t control my feelings for him no matter what I do…!”



“That’s alright.”



Kagome quickly looked up at her sister’s smiling face, no malice in her soft, peaceful brown eyes.



“Kagome…I want you to be happy. I want Inuyasha to be happy, but…if you’re gone, that won’t happen. Inuyasha…needs you.”



”He needs you, Kikyou! Please, go back in my place…!”



Kikyou wrapped her arms around Kagome with a gentle smile, embracing her confused little sister. It wasn’t her time to die yet…and it certainly wasn’t her time to leave Inuyasha behind.



“Remember the scroll…?”



“I do…”



”Please, read it with Inuyasha as soon as you get a moment.”



”But, Kikyou…!”



”Kagome…I’ll be with you always. Please, just be happy. Be happy with Inuyasha.”



Kikyou cupped Kagome’s face in between the palm of her hands gently. Kagome began to feel calm and relaxed before she closed her eyes. A white void surrounded Kikyou and herself before she felt herself floating through a seemingly endless void…



“Be happy, Kagome…”

Inuyasha was still clutching Kagome’s body to his chest. Why? Why did he have to say those things to Kagome? Why did he have to hit her the way he did?



“Kagome…wake up, dammit…!”



“Inu…yasha…”



Inuyasha froze for a moment. Was his mind just playing tricks on him? He knew Kagome was dead and there was no bringing her back.



“Inuyasha…you’re squeezing me too tightly…”



Inuyasha quickly released Kagome as she coughed up the majority of the water she’d swallowed. Kagome felt dizzy and a little disorientated, but when she saw Inuyasha kneeling beside her…she couldn’t stop herself from wrapping her arms around him.



“Inuyasha…! I’m so sorry! Please, don’t hate me!”



Kagome looked at Inuyasha when he didn’t embrace her back. Was he still disgusted with her? Why didn’t he hold her back? It was then she saw his tears for the second time in her life. He wrapped his arms around her as an unbearable sense of relief washed over his hanyou body. Kagome was alive. She was ALIVE…



“Kagome, don’t…dammit, you brat…! Don’t scare me like that ever again!”



Kagome could only smile at the petname, even if the tears still rolled down her cheeks. Inuyasha looked at her, brushing her damp hair out of her face.



“I didn’t mean any of that stuff I said, it was just…I…I couldn’t take losing my family like that…and I…”



He grit his teeth, putting his hand to his face, trying to hide the impending tears.



“…and then I said all that crap to you…and then when I felt like I was gonna lose you…I just…fuck…!”



Despite the slight pain her body was in, she managed to wrap her arms tightly around Inuyasha and bring his head down upon her chest. Through the material of her wet, black kimono, he could hear her heartbeat. It was strong; it was soft and…it was probably the most comforting thing to hear at that very moment.



“Kagome…please…tell me…we’re going to be alright…aren’t we?”



Kagome wrapped her arms around him tighter and looked to the sky. There was still so much left unsaid between them, but were they? After everything that had happened? Kagome looked to the sky once more for guidance and closed her eyes. A soft wind brushed against her cheek, reminding her of the gentle caress of Kikyou’s hand as if Kikyou herself was giving her blessing to them. Tears rolling down Kagome’s cheeks once more, she nodded.



”Yes…Inuyasha…we’ll be fine…”



She released a sigh, smiling at the heavens.



“We’ll be just fine.”

A/N: Short chapter! Don’t hate me! Two more chappies to go! And yet, Inuyasha and Kagome STILL aren’t together, their just two confused teens who are going through some tough times…poor them.



Harmony: Yes, getting hit, especially by a guy and opened palmed nonetheless hurts like HELL, so I can sympathize with you. I almost didn’t put Inuyasha slapping her in there. It was actually going to be Inuyasha trying to attack Kagome with Miroku and a bunch of other people holding him back and Inu telling her to leave and never come back. Looking at it now, that probably would have been better…DAMMIT! DAMMIT! DAMMIT! Why do good ideas ALWAYS come after they are needed?!?!? YARG! Anyway, I’ll save that for my next story, lol.



Selina: Yeah, I wanted to keep Inuyasha’s anger and Kagome’s guilt as close to realistic as I possibly could. I mean, it was kind of difficult to do it, but…you know, lol. Anyhoosit, they STILL aren’t together yet, which worries even me XD. You’d think they’d be together now, even WITH Kikyou’s blessing! Isn’t she a saint? I love her! (Atleast in this story, lol).



Hikari: I know, Kikyou was starting to grow on me as well! I was sad to kill her, but if she was gonna die, I wanted it to be in a more sensible and realistic fashion that just screamed “KIKYOU HAD NO PROBLEMS DYING FOR HER LITTLE SISTER” so that’s what I did, lol. (I was honestly just gonna have her get speared by Naraku, but eh…) lol

Goth_loli: Here’s your update, lol! Hope you liked this one better than the last chapter! God, how dramatic was that last chapter? A funeral, a death, mental breakdowns, near-suicides…Yeesh. I need to write happier stories, lol.
