The Day Before
A/N: Thank you KooKooKitty and Eternal Twylight for the reviews! And yes the claiming battle, which will be in the next chapter will be interesting, I already have ideas brewing. I never can just have an easy happily ever after, the guy has to earn it. It will be no different for either Sesshomaru or InuYasha. Enjoy!!!

“Come on mutt tell me where you hid her,” Koga growled as he slammed InuYasha into another wall. All week they had been fighting each other when the other Lords weren’t around. Mira had caught them twice and just turned her nose up at them and stormed away. “Or should I say what did you do to make her leave.”
“I didn’t do a damn thing to make her leave,” InuYasha growled as he slammed Koga into the opposite wall. They were destroying the palace, but neither cared. “She was stolen from me. Not that she would have anything to do with a filthy wolf like you!”
“Someone had to show you how amazing she is!” Koga growled as he grabbed InuYasha’s neck and held him in the air. Mya came upon this scene and rushed to get her mistress. “You never deserved her. She was a real woman not some vile corpse. Did you even think how she felt every time you went to that bitch and left her alone. I should have taken her long ago.”
“Would she have been happy if you took her by force?” Taijina asked as she walked down the hall. “I must ask you release InuYasha he is starting to blue.”
“My lady,” Koga replied as he released InuYasha and bowed to her. InuYasha unceremoniously landed on his rear, and gasped for breath. Looking down at his feet, he noticed the damage he had done to the walls of her castle, his parents would not be pleased.
“InuYasha leave us,” Taijina nodded. Standing, he eyed her suspiciously before taking his leave. Shifting on his feet, and feeling uncomfortable in his formal kimono Koga stared at Taijina. “It was not InuYasha’s fault the Miko is gone. Not even you could protect her from fate.”
“What?” Koga gasped as he turned to watch her leave. Making up his mind her followed her. “Fate? She was fated to be my woman.”
“You are a foolish youth,” Taijina replied as she headed towards the gardens. “She was fated to come to our time. To release InuYasha from his tree prison. To break the jewel then heal it. To defeat Naraku and bring a small bit of peace to our lands. Then lastly to return to her own time. Five hundred years in the future.”
“Why should I just hand her over to mutt breath,” Koga growled, and received a glare from Taijina.
“Because we are a future lord and lady,” Taijina sighed as she plucked a white rose, and sniffed it. “We had no business thinking we can find love in our position.”
“You think his Lord of coldness doesn’t love you,” Koga laughed, as he walked past her. Turning back to look at her once more. “Are you going to give up without a fight tomorrow?”
“Of course not,” Taijina snorted. “I will not be claimed without a damn good fight. Tomorrow is my only way out of this ridiculousness, and if I do lose at least I shall show them my worth.”
“You know what it means to challenge a males claim,” Koga reminded her, earning him a harsh glare. Very few female Youkai ever challenged a males claim upon them. Then a claiming battle would take place, and if the male lost he would be shamed not only for losing to a female but for trying to claim a female obviously above him.
Her challenge wasn’t to embarrass Sesshomaru but to show Linh who was the dominate female. Of course she would have to explain that to Sesshomaru later, since he was refusing to talk to her once she had challenged the claim upon her. Life was just too complicated. Turning from Koga she made her way back into the palace.
“Females,” Koga sniffed as he walked away from her and towards the woods. Ginta was waiting for him with his normal clothes. Quickly changing he nodded to Ginta and headed out into the woods for a run, after all he was born free and he would live free.

“She can’t be serious about this,” InuYasha fumed as he paced in front of Sesshomaru in his study. Sesshomaru was sitting behind his desk looking over land documents, doing his best to ignore InuYasha. “Can’t you stop her!”
“She decided to dispute the claim, all I can do is make her submit,” Sesshomaru replied in a bored tone.
“I don’t understand why she is doing this,” InuYasha huffed as he turned towards Sesshomaru, who appeared not to be paying attention. Frustrated, he knocked the document out of Sesshomaru’s hands. “Are you even listening to me!”
“InuYasha,” Sesshomaru growled as he stood up. “The only reason you are pissed off is because Linh is trying to make you submit to her will. Taijina knows what is at stake here, and why she chose this path I do not know. I personally never know why she does what she does. Half the time I don’t think she knows why she does what she does! Now I have work to do, so get OUT!”
InuYasha’s ears flattened to his head as he quickly and quietly exited the room. Sesshomaru was left in peace for a few minuets, before a knocking was heard. Growling at the door, he tossed his documents down and went to the door. Yanking it open he saw a pale Fu standing outside.
“What do you want Advisor Fu?” Sesshomaru growled, making Fun gulp.
“I wish to speak to you my lord, about my sister,” he replied nervously, tucking a loose red strand of hair behind his ear. Sesshomaru walked back into the room, wordlessly giving his permission for Fu to enter.
“What is it,” Sesshomaru asked in a bored tone, as he seated himself. Fu shut the door and stared at Sesshomaru, he had silver eyes that matched his sister.
“Do you love her?” Fu blurted out before his courage would fail him. Staring up at Fu, Sesshomaru was left wordless at his outburst. He was not expecting this from the fidgety young advisor.
“Why do you inquire this information,” Sesshomaru asked, proceeding cautiously.
“I need to know,” Fu replied staring intently at his lord. He had to do this for Taijina, to make sure his elder sister was going to be alright. “If you can truly say you will love her till the end of her days I will support you tomorrow in the claiming battle. If not I will back Taijina to defeat you.”
“Is this what the challenging of my claim is about,” he growled. Fu nodded, knowing his sister’s only reason for battle, she truly believe Sesshomaru did not care about him. Staring into his eyes for a few more moments Fu received his answer, when Sesshomaru‘s mask slipped for an instant.
“I will support you my Lord,” Fu proclaimed as he bowed. “Your eyes told me more then your words ever will.”
Sesshomaru watched him walk away. He knew tomorrow was going to be a long day. As long as he won then tomorrow he would mate Taijina. Tonight was the last night he would spend alone, he would make sure of that.
