Away From Me

Chapter 16 (7th Moon)

Kagome awoke later then normal to two children bouncing on her bed. “What are you two doing in my room?” She asked pulling the covers up to her chin. “Sesshomaru sama said that you had slept enough and that you need to get up you got a big day a head of you” Rin said looking at Kagome. “Come on momma get up” Shippo cried pouncing on Kagome giving her a fierce hug. “Alright you two I’ll get up” Kagome said pulling back the covers and getting out of the warm bed. All of a sudden she got giddy ‘today is the last day of my single life’ Kagome thought almost jumping in joy.

Rose took that opportunity to come in with a tray of food. “I see you finally have gotten up Kagome” she said as she handed the tray to her and sat on her bed. Kagome sat next to Rose and ate the fruit that was on her tray. “So why was I allowed to sleep so long today?” Kagome asked taking another bite of an apple. “Lord Sesshomaru said that you needed the rest, he wouldn’t let anyone in until now, and its past noon” Rose said fixing Rin’s hair from jumping on the bed.

Kagome looked at the children again and noticed they were dressed up as was Rose. “Well don’t you guys look nice today” Kagome said placing the finished tray on a side table. “Lord Sesshomaru said we have to look extra special today because of what is happening” Shippo said admiring the new clothes he had on.

“Now that you have eaten, I think it wise we get you into the hot springs so that you can wash up” Rose said. “You have a long pampering session in order and I want you to be stress free so off to the bath you go” she continued pushing the children out the door and escorting Kagome to the baths.

Kagome’s day seemed to fly by. After her bath she got her nails done, followed by massages that made her fall asleep. Hair removal followed closely behind that and that woke Kagome right up as she groaned in pain at the rough treatment. Then she was taken to get her hair done in a classic elegant up do that Kagome absolutely loved. That left only one thing to do, get dressed.

The servants ushered her into the fitting room that she had spent many hours in during the week. Kagome was tightly placed in the garment that had taken hours to complete. Finally she was ready and she was nervous as hell. What made it worse was the fact that she hadn’t seen Sesshomaru at all. Now she sat in a room all alone waiting for the ceremony to begin.

Kagome was lost in desperation at being let out into the open. She didn’t know how long she was sitting but in the time that she had been sitting there she had made a new friend named Dusty. Dusty was a dust ball that had a very wide vocabulary of rolling around as kagome flicked her wings blowing air to the dust ball.

Her eyes were beginning to droop out of sheer boredom by the time she felt his familiar aura. The door to her back opened and the light shown on her form, she smiled.

“It is time Kagome” Inuyasha said placing a hand on her shoulder looking into her silvery eyes. Kagome could not contain her laughter at the outfit that he wore. It was an exact replica of what Sesshomaru wore, only difference was the colors. Inuyasha’s was blue while Sesshomaru’s was red, and he had a red obi instead of a yellow one.

“You promised you wouldn’t laugh” Inuyasha pouted. “What’s with the outfit?” Kagome asked drying the tears of laughter. “It is a family thing ok, I have to wear it or fluffykins will have my head. Now will you get up so we can get this thing over with, I want to spend as little time as I can in this thing” he said grasping his friend’s hand and looking at the claws.

Kagome stood up and smoothed the folds out of the Kimono. “Alright, I’m ready” se said looking into his sad gold eyes. “You know I never meant any of this to happen” Inuyasha said dropping his head. “Yeah I know, but I guess fate had other plans for us. I think that it has other plans for you as well Inuyasha, when every thing is said and done you will be happy” Kagome said squeezing his hand as he nodded and led her out into the hall way towards her future.

Sesshomaru stood in the hall looking at the gathered guest. He was wearing a beautiful silver top much like Kagome’s with black hakamas and a white Obi embroidered with the crest of his family. On top of the silver he wore a different set of armor that gleamed in the soft light of the room.

Inuyasha was sent to go get Kagome. Sesshomaru felt Kagome’s aura lighten as he entered the room and Inuyasha’s darkened. But they were coming and were now only steps away.

An old dog demon by the name of Emrion stood before the alter waiting for the girl to arrive. He was dressed in the traditional robes of the ceremony, bland and black.

The doors opened to reveal Inuyasha escorting Kagome by her arm. Sesshomaru almost lost his breath at the vision before him. Kagome was absolutely breathtaking in the Kimono that she was wearing. They stopped next to Sesshomaru and Kagome looked up into his golden depths.

Inuyasha released Kagome’s arm and took his spot next to Emrion.

Emrion stepped forward and raised his hands.

“Ladies and gentlemen. We have come together to witness the joining of two demons. The ceremony you are about to witness has been carried out for many moons and is only the formal part of the mating ceremony. The rest shall be held later in privacy, so that the complete union may be successful. I will call forth the male Sesshomaru, the son of the great and powerful dog demon general Inutarshio”(Sp?) he said dropping one hand to Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru stepped up to the man and bowed his head turning to face the guest.” I will call the female Kagome, the shikon miko” Emrion said dropping his other hand as Kagome walked up to the man and bowed and then turned to the guest beside Sesshomaru.

Emrion looked at the two and nodded his head. Sesshomaru and Kagome turned to one another joined hands and approached the alter.

Emrion cleared his thought and began to chant the ancient words in a language that only a few had knowledge of. “Let these two be bond as one, let their sprits go free. Let the love they have grow as it should. Let what happens here not be broken. All is well, all is fated let these two now become mated” he said extending his hand to the couple.

Sesshomaru took the knife and cut Kagome’s right palm and she did the same for him. Kagome placed the dagger on the pillow and the two placed their palms together while Emrion placed the cup under to collect the drops of blood. After a few minutes they pulled away and Sesshomaru took Kagome’s hand.

His rough tongue cleaned the blood from her palm sealing the cut. Kagome took his as well and bathed the flesh with her tongue. The moment they tasted each others blood they glowed a dull white and it got brighter until it exploded causing everyone to cover their eyes.

Everyone gathered knew that this meant it was the joining of sole mates and knew that if they tried to break them apart they would fail.

Emrion mixed the collected blood and the two drank joining them in life. Sesshomaru and Kagome looked into each others eyes and knew that they had made the right decision. Sesshomaru leaned down to Kagome’s lips and they shared a passionate kiss as a newly mated couple.

All the guest clapped and a few whistled as the pulled apart. Kagome now was sporting a deep blush and Sesshomaru looking quite pleased; well about as pleased as he could with his face still impassive.

They walked out of the room and into the dining hall that was now set up for a giant feast and dancing. The demons followed and the party commenced.

Sesshomaru and Kagome were being congratulated right and left. Inuyasha had slunk off to a corner and was looking at the happy couple.

“You wish it was you, don’t you” Rose said out of the shadows. “Who Wouldn’t?” Inuyasha said turning to Rose. “You saw, they were meant to be together” Rose said looking at the now dancing couple. “I know, I see it now, what I did was meant to be now it’s on to the next part I guess. Only problem is I have a feeling that fluffy is going to be tagging along” Inuyasha said and Rose laughed at the name he called her master. “That won’t be the only addition to your group you know, where ever Sesshomaru goes Rin goes, and where ever Rin goes Jaken goes, as does Auh-uhn. And, on top of that Kagome’s servant will go as well” Rose said looking at the horrified face. “And I thought that Sesshomaru was bad, I’m going to have to put up with another woman, not just any women but one that works for Sesshomaru, why have the gods cursed me?” Inuyasha said. “Oh, it’s not that bad, Inuyasha, if it’s any consolation to you I will be the one that will be going with you” Rose said Inuyasha looked at her and gave her a smirk. The two continued to talk and watch the children until it was time for their bed.

Inuyasha and Rose took the tired children up to their beds and tucked them in for the night. “It has been a pleasure to talk with you Inuyasha” Rose said. “Yeah, it made wearing this almost bearable” Inuyasha said commenting on the outfit. “Oh it’s not that bad, it suits you” Rose said making Inuyasha blush.

Rose was standing before her door. “Good night Inuyasha, it is time I go to bed” Rose said. “Good night Rose, I will see you sometime soon” Inuyasha said leaving the demoness in the dark corridor.

Sesshomaru and Kagome were growing tired of the party and the guest. Every time they tried to leave someone would start to talk to them again. Kagome was sitting down when Rose and Inuyasha left with the children. Sesshomaru was tied up talking with Von and Emrion. She could tell that all the single ladies in the room were staring daggers at her back when she wasn’t looking. ‘Let them be jealous’ her beast chuckled. ‘You have what they wanted, gloat a little you deserve it’ it continued. And Kagome for once listened and had a little chuckle at her fortune of landing one of the most eligible bachelors in feudal Japan.

Finally Sesshomaru turned to her and came to where she was sitting. “Sesshomaru, I’m tired of all the old stuffy demons” Kagome whined. “You are not the only one” he said giving her a smirk. “I have a plan” he said sitting down and whispering in her ear. “Do tell” Kagome said. “When I leave, get up and go to the bathroom. Escape through the window and go up to your balcony, I will meet you their” Sesshomaru said placing a kiss on her cheek and getting up to go talk some more.

With Kagome:

Kagome got up a few moments later and politely made her way to the bathroom. When she finally reached it she was almost jumping for joy. Quickly she jumped up and opened the large window. Looking below her Kagome jumped up and flew to her balcony, careful not to go past any windows.

Her feet landed without a sound on the stone surface. She looked at the starlit sky under the crescent moon and breathed in the fresh night air, happy to finally get out of the room of death. Kagome could feel Sesshomaru moving about under her amongst the guest.

With Sesshomaru:

Sesshomaru looked on a Kagome left the room and noted that she did as he asked her. Now all he had to do is get out of the room himself. Talking with a couple people he finally was able to maneuver his way near an open door that led to some gardens. Scanning the room he made sure that no one was looking at him and made a mad dash to the darkness.

He jumped up to the second level and entered the room. Quickly he went to the hallway and made his way up to Kagome’s room where he found her looking up at the moon lit sky.

Silently he crept to her back and encircled his arms around her waist.

“Come, Kagome we have a ceremony to finish” he said nuzzling her neck causing a shiver of anticipation to run down her spine. Sesshomaru took Kagome in his arms and walked to his chambers, shutting the door behind him so that they could begin the part that he was looking forward too the most, the mating
