Naraku's Plot
Chapter Sixteen
Kagome walked along side Yomi while he gave her a tour of the city. She was glad that Sesshoumaru hadn't bitched when the man had come to invite her. The inuyoukai didn't seem to mind the presence of the blind man, it was the fox he didn't like. Not that she could blame him, after he'd demanded answers. Sesshoumaru seemed to hold Yomi in high regard, which was a huge compliment. She found out that Youko went by the name Kurama. He also had a human mother, explaining the human form.
Yomi came to speak to her everyday, why she wasn't sure. He never mentioned the past or Kurama for some reason. He spoke of his past, what he'd done since he'd seen her last. She was also told of his dreams and his hopes for the Makai. Seemed that he'd made himself a son that Naraku had just recently killed. She didn't understand why'd he want a son born from a machine. A child didn't grow right if it didn't have the love of a mother.
They'd been there for over two weeks without anymore attacks. Sesshoumaru believed Naraku was planning something. What they had no idea, he couldn't get the shards from her. She hardly saw Shippo, he seemed taken with one of the females in the city. Kurama was still in the city, he just seemed to be keeping his distance away from her. He could have atleast apologized for what he'd done.
The only ones she really saw were Sesshoumaru and Yomi. The last three days Yomi had invited her to dine with him. She made the comment about him finally getting some manners, at first he appeared offended then he smiled.
She found that she enjoyed his company, he had matured greatly. No one bothered them as they walked around. Her heart dropped when she saw Kurama and the short guy walking towards them. Yomi stopped waiting for them to join.
She looked around as the three conversed, talking about some sort of patrol taking place. She felt Kurama's eyes land on her but didn't look in his direction. Instead her eyes roamed around the street trying to find something interesting to gaze at.
Her soul suddenly felt like it was being yanked in every direction, the tug was undeniable. It only meant one thing, that wasn't a mere shard she felt. She scanned the area not being able to lock the location down. "Yomi."
He heard her speak, "Yes, Kagome."
"He's here, he's here." Fear dripped from her, "Naraku's here."
"Nonsense, someone that powerful we'd be able to feel." Hiei didn't sense anything.
"The jewel, I feel it. Please believe me, the real Naraku is close. He'd never let anyone else have the jewel." She saw Yomi nod believing her.
A youkia ran past them throwing several wooden dolls at their feet. Yomi grabbed her around the waist moving a safe distance away. Kurama and Hiei jumped back as the dolls began to form into puppets. Four of them sprang up, striking out at the two men. Kagome felt Yomi let go of her waist, he left her there to go help the others.
"No don't, its what he wants." She didn't want to sound like she was begging him to protect her. But she didn't have her bow and she was no match for Naraku up close and personal.
"You'll be fine Kagome, he sent puppets." He tried to reassure her as he walked over to join the battle taking place.
She shook her head, Naraku never just did anything. He had a reason for everything he did, what was he planning? She watched as Kurama sliced through one of the puppets breaking the doll in the process. Hiei cut one into several pieces, it fell to the ground. They were going down too easy, they weren't sent here to kill. "They're a diversion." She spoke to herself softly before the tug became stronger. It was right behind her. She screamed Yomi's name a second before an arm wrapped around her waist yanking her into the air.
"Long time no see Kagome." He whispered into her ear, the voice sending shivers down her spine. His hand was wrapped around her throat squeezing off her air. "I have waited a long time for you. For centuries I've thought of nothing but the day you would reappear. One might even say you've become an obsession."
"Release her," Sesshoumaru appeared beside them, Tensegia drawn.
"Lord Sesshoumaru, its good to see you again. I see you've managed to find her, I must thank you." He ran his claws over the tender flesh of her neck. "You might wanna tell those below to behave, if you don't want her to lose her pretty little head. Would be a pity, it was her face that I craved all these centuries. So much like the departed Kikyo's, you don't like to hear that do you Kagome."
"Fuck you, Onigumo."
"Not yet, but you will get your chance. See, I find myself in a predicament that I don't like. You've somehow managed to absorb those two shards into your body keeping them out my grasp. Now, I have to wait for them to reform before I can tear them from your flesh. As much as I want to hear you scream as I tear you apart, I have to wait to do so." He looked down at the men on the ground, all ready to spring at any moment. "Yet, I cannot allow you to be able to hunt me. Those down there mean nothing, they are but dirt beneath my feet. You however are a concern, one I must find a way to eliminate. I will simply make myself immune to the power that you possess."
She screamed when she felt his teeth sink into her neck. The pain caused her aura to flare in defense. He howled as the purification energy slammed into him, he released her. Kagome felt herself falling, she was going to die. Strong arms grabbed her pulling her against a chest.
"Bitch!" Naraku looked down to see most of his arm and half his side gone. Sesshoumaru moved towards him, he cackled. "Nice try." He disappeared in a wave of miasma, leaving the inuyoukai swinging at air.
Kagome sighed in relief, hitting the ground from that high up didn't sound like fun. She looked up at the small man holding her. "Thanks."
"Hn." Hiei landed on the ground putting her on her feet. He scowled at the wound on her neck, she must not know what it meant.
Sesshoumaru came walking up to her, with a pissed off look. Kagome took a step back, he never looked angry. If he did all hell broke loose and you didn't want to be in his path. His hand came out to grab her arm pulling her to him. He jerked her head to the side, "Ouch, dammit Sesshoumaru, thats fucking attached."
"You have been marked."
She didn't like the sound of that, "Excuse me?"
