The Past To Hate

Chapter Sixteen

They didn't find a place to rest that night, they traveled until late the next day. Inuyasha made no comment about Leiko tagging along. Sesshomaru had taken off before dawn, to check on Jaken and Rin. Leiko had told him bye along with Kagome. She'd blushed when he turned to her and nodded giving her an intense stare.

The group was miserable and tired by the time they stopped to make some lunch. The sun had come out to dry everything. Kagome had some ramen cooking. Shippo was sleeping on Sango's lap, while Miroku played with Kirara. Inuyasha was perched in a tree not far away. Leiko decided to take her leave before Inuyasha ordered her away. She grabbed her bow off the ground and stood in front of Kagome.

"Take care of yourself Kagome, I shall be going now."

"But you can't leave, what about," She stopped when she noticed everyone looking. "You can't leave. Please stay, we all want you to come with us."

"Thanks for lying." She smiled at her. "I'll be fine." Nodding at the others, well everyone except the hanyou. She merely glanced his way before leaving. He looked to be sleeping which was fine with her, she didn't want to speak to him anyways. Asshole! She didn't walk far, she herself was tired. She planned on getting some much needed rest then head out.

To her left was a large oak tree, its branches would give her shelter from the sun. Taking a seat, leaning back she decided this was a good place. Just to be on the safe side she put up a barrier and closed her eyes. She was just starting to doze off when someone interrupted.

"There you are," Inuyasha was glaring down at her. Who pissed in his ramen?

"So your eyes work, big deal." She closed her eyes. Maybe he'd go away if she ignored him.

"Heh, why did you leave?" He asked.

"I'm sorry, I was under the impression my presence wouldn't be tolerated. If you are here to make sure I don't come back you are wasting your time and most importantly mine." Jerk needed to say whatever it was so she could sleep.

"Come back."

Her eyes flew open, "Excuse me?" Did he just ask her to come back. She studied him, had Naraku shapeshifted posing as the hanyou? She smelt him, okay it was Inuyasha. "Why?"

"Cause, Kagome could have been killed today. There will be times when I can't protect her. I don't want her to die when she could have protected herself but didn't know how. She likes you for some stupid reason and if you are still willing to train her then I guess I can put up with you for a while." He waited for her answer. He was worried that Naraku was after Kagome. He wouldn't let Naraku have her.

"I'll think about it," She wouldn't give in that easy. He obviously wanted her to come back and train Kagome. She'd make him squirm for the name calling.

"Don't think too long I might change my mind." He walked off. That was pleasant!

She closed her eyes and went back to her nap. The group would be there the rest of the night, she really needed some sleep.


Leiko woke up a few hours later, dusk was setting in. She stretched and looked around her, the night was going to be beautiful. She climbed to her feet, it was time to return to the group. Hopefully, Inuyasha would ignore her while she trained Kagome. She'd decided that instead of traveling with the group during the day she'd simply find the group after they made camp and spend a few hours with the girl then. That way she'd be out of the hanyou's hair.

Inuyasha smelt her before she walked into view. He sighed in relief, he had begun to worry. Kagome jumped up when she saw the girl and ran to hug her. He cursed himself instead of watching Kagome his eyes kept returning to HER. He stayed in his tree, he had no reason to get down. Just because everyone else was getting up to greet the girl didn't mean he had to.

Kagome hugged her, "You've come back. I'm so glad, now you will be safe."

"Kagome, I'm not staying." At her disappointed look she continued, "I will train you but I will not travel with you." Inuyasha's ears perked. "I will be close, on evenings that you make camp I will come to you. We will train when you are able after I will leave again until the next time."

"Okay, are you sure though? You are welcome to travel with us during the day." Kagome tried once more.

"No, I will not change my mind on this. Do you feel up to it tonight?"

"Sure," Kagome was excited at the possiblity of being just as good as Kikyo.


For the next two hours, Leiko had Kagome feeling out her spiritual powers. Learning how it felt, learning when to recognize it. After she had the hang of it, it was time for her to call it.

"This will be much like shooting your sacred arrow. When you shoot, you feel the power going into the shot. Now, I want you to concentrate on that feeling, center it in your hand." She held her hand up, it began to glow. "Like this."

"Okay, I'll try." She'd used her hands before to cause damage so she was capable of doing it. Just not usually on a whim. She concentrated for several minutes while Leiko sat patiently.

Inuyasha scoffed, "She can't do it." He was still perched high on his tree limb. He still had his eyes closed, he suddenly heard the tree limb breaking and he fell to the ground. He looked up to find that a few inches from where his ass had been was a large burn. He looked over to see that bitch's hand in the air aimed at him.

"See Kagome, once you learn to do that I'll show you how to shut up annoying hanyous."

"Whatever!" He went to go sit by the fire. Stupid bitch had been aiming for his head more than likely.

Kagome tried for another ten minutes before she felt it. "I got it." She felt her heart drop when she gazed to find Leiko aiming an arrow near her head.

Leiko sensed it, she couldn't put a name on it. If it came any closer, it would die.

"Put that damn thing away. It's Kikyo." He'd smelt her as soon as he'd seen Leiko go for her weapons.

The woman stepped out for everyone to see. She didn't look too happy either. Her soul collectors were surrounding her. Leiko stared at the woman that Inuyasha was in love with. 'You have to be fucking kidding me.' She might have been pretty when she was alive but the woman was pale like death now. How Inuyasha could choose her over Kagome she had no idea. Kagome's eyes were filled with laughter, love and life. While this woman held nothing but despair, her eyes were lifeless much like her body. Lieko doubted the woman could even feel desire much less get lubricated. She put her bow down, she didn't need it to kill her if she so chose.

Kikyo obviously felt it too. She couldn't believe that she sensed a power greater than her own. One of her soul collectors shot towards the girl. She wondered if the girl knew how to use it. The power was wasted if you didn't know how to use it. The demon got within a few feet and the girl's aura flared. The soul collector was purified as it snaked out. "Hn." She turned to Inuyasha who was walking towards her. "I've come to see if you've heard from Naraku lately? Its been weeks since I've seen anything from him."

"Yeah, we saw him last night actually." Inuyasha was standing in front her, looking at her.

Kikyo didn't like the look in his eyes. It was like he was sizing her up, comparing her to someone. Probably her reincarnation. She knew how his feelings bounced between them. So the little girl was training, that would explain the other miko. It didn't matter she would never be better than the original. "May I speak to you alone Inuyasha?"

"Yeah," he didn't look at the others but followed Kikyo.

"That was Kikyo? Is that idiot blind as well as stupid?" Leiko asked. "Obviously his sense of smell if fucked."

"Why do you say that?" Kagome asked.

Shippo bounded up. "Because Kikyo smells like death. The only ones that notice it are me and Kirara. Well I guess you can smell it now to Leiko."

"Yes, I could. I didn't like what I smelt but I'm not the one trying to fuck her." Everyone gasped at the statement. "What? You think he hasn't, spare me. He's a hanyou, not much different from a demon. If he is in love with her, then it would only seem plausible that his demonic blood would want to claim her."

"She's right," Shippo said. "Don't look at me like that, I might be a kid but I'm also a demon. When a demon finds someone their demonic bloods wants to take as a mate they claim them. But Kikyo doesn't have Inuyasha's mark, if she did she'd carry his scent on her. I don't smell him on her."

"Exactly, so if Inuyasha is so much in love with her why hasn't he claimed her and bedded her?" Leiko asked. "Maybe he wants to claim someone else." She was looking at Kagome.


Inuyasha saw Kikyo stop and turn to face him. "Who is that girl?"

"A friend of Kagome's. She'd nobody, she's helping Kagome out thats all." He stated.

Kikyo begged to differ. That girl could cause trouble for her. She'd also seen the way the girl had looked at Inuyasha. Kagome was enough competition.

Inuyasha didn't want to talk about her, which reminded him. He grabbed Kikyo pulling her close, "I've missed you."

"Have you? Why the sudden display of affection?" She wasn't complaining but she was curious.

"I told you I missed you."

She brought herself up to place a kiss on his mouth. He didn't respond at first, once again she believed him to be comparing it to something. That little girl has probably been kissing him. She slid her tongue over his lips, waiting for him to open. When he did she took control. She'd give him something to think about next time Kagome kissed him. His hands seemed urgent as he slid them up her shirt to cup her breast. She heard a sigh escape him and took it as one of desire. Her hands frantically ran behind his neck and down his back. Would he claim her tonight?

Inuyasha moaned from disappointment. Kikyo's kiss now left him feeling empty with the urge to push her away. Before it was pleasant now it felt wrong. Yet he let her continue, maybe if he gave it some time. He tried to take it a step forward. He thrust his hand up to grab her breast. It was cold to the touch, he ran his thumb over the nipple. It didn't change, didn't harden under his touch. He waited for desire to fill him but it never came. She was bringing her hands down his stomach, she seemed desperate to have him. He grabbed her hand stopping her. She'd been going for his manhood, he couldn't let her find him soft. He loved her, he couldn't hurt her. She would see that her touch had caused no reaction in his body. "Kikyo we must stop."

"Why? Don't you want me?"

"Its not that. I have to get back. Becareful." He placed a quick kiss on her mouth and left.

Kikyo smiled, she'd been very close tonight. She was sure that only his feelings concerning Kagome had stopped him. Inuyasha wouldn't want to hurt the girl. She'd return in a few weeks then she'd see what happened.
