Disclaimer: I don't own anything having to do with Inuyasha, which makes me really sad. Oh well. I woulda had him nekkid by now anyway. -

And.... I'm back! Kind of. I'm going to try to finish this story to the best of my abilities. It might go on for a while, but I didn't want to leave all you guys hanging. I know how it feels. Hehe.

Chapter Sixteen: Consequences

What's done is done,
Horrible visions of life and death,
Surround us now and,
We can't repress,
Love felt and love lost.


Swirling blackness, whirling visions of Kagome's death, surrounding him, crushing him, killing him. Kagome, sliced through by Sesshoumaru. Kagome, crushed by Kikyou's hate. Kagome, dead, murdered for defending him, a worthless half-breed. He screamed. And forced his eyes open.
A fuzzy image of Kagome was in front of him, alive and well. Tears pooled in the corners of his eyes.
"Kagome.... You're... alright..." He whispered hoarsely. He tried to smile, but broke off in a pained grimace.
Tears spilled down Kagome's cheeks. "Of course I'm alright, you're the one whose in danger here buddy." She cradled his head in her lap tenderly. "I don't know if my medicine is strong enough to fight off Sesshoumaru's poison. I've done all I can..." Her voice broke on a sob. "If only I had my memory back... then I could take you to the medicine in my world..." She broke off, looking up, and swallowing, tried to collect herself. 'Be strong Kagome, give him hope.'
Miroku looked down at them, the miko and the hanyou, and felt utterly helpless. His own powers would not be enough. "Kagome... Do you need anything...?" He asked hesitantly.
Kagome gulped once more, and set Inuyasha's head down gently on the rough fabric of her pack. "No, I think we're fine here for now Miroku, thank you." Miroku nodded and left the hut.
Inuyasha tried to speak, but started coughing roughly, his whole body shaking.
Kagome stroked his hand, trying to calm him down. "Don't waste your energy, Inuyasha. You'll need it to get better..." Suddenly Kagome's eyes flashed red. "I think I have an idea. I'll be back. Just try to rest now." With that she stood and left the room, on the warpath.
Outside she swept right past the stunned Sango and directly up the "almost" human Sesshoumaru.
Grabbing him by the ears, she yanked him inside the hut, ignoring his growls of protest.
"You did this to him! You should know how to undo it! Now tell me before I really do something drastic!" She yelled in his poor sensitive demon ears, pointing at the again, unconcious hanyou on the cot.
Sesshoumaru sniffed disdainfully. Looking regal despite the tight grip on his ears. "This Sesshoumaru owes you ningens nothing. That worthless half-breed deserves what is coming to him."
Kagome stomped on his foot, and glared at him, her eyes glowing blue.
Sesshoumaru's eyes widened, watering as the unexpected pain flared in his foot. He growled at her again, and yanked himself out of her grasp. "If you really wish him to live, you will give me back my powers, onna. Else I will not tell you a thing."
Kagome looked at him critically. "You will heal him yourself, and maybe I might give you back your powers."
Sesshoumaru seethed inwardly, his pride smarting greatly. He looked down at the sick hanyou, registering how much poison his body absorbed. He sniffed again. "He... can be cured. However, I do not have the proper materials here. The herbs needed only grow in my lands, and I cannot travel there as you've stripped me of that power as well."
Kagome thought for a moment, then came up with an evil plan. "I will be back, don't you dare move while I'm gone."
She hurried out of the hut, going in search of Kaede.

I think I've pushed myself enough for today! Its not much, but it's better than nothing, ja!
