Chapter 15: Handcuffed
A/N: Kagome gets dragged down to the local police station and shoved into the nearest interrogation room. Will she be charged with Sesshomaru’s murder? To answer a few questions, yes Sesshomaru is actually dead, and yes Inuyasha is about to find out that his darling little Kagome wasn’t quite the angel he thought she was. Kagome sat hugging the gray chenille blanket tightly around her bare shoulders as the two police officers walked into the room behind Kikyo. She looked up at them nervously as they walked past her to have a look at Sesshomaru’s dead body sprawled across the bed. The younger of the two officers made his way back over to where Kagome was sitting and knelt down beside her. Inuyasha pulled into the penthouse complex and saw the flashing lights of the patrol car. ‘Jesus Kagome, what the hell did you get yourself into?’ He jumped out of the car and sprinted up the stairs towards Sesshomaru’s penthouse.

Not even bothering to knock Inuyasha walked right into the penthouse. “Kagome where are you?” An officer came out of the bedroom and led him back to where Kagome was sitting on the floor. “I’m officer Muso Lin, we’re taking Kagome down to the station to get her statement. So it’s probably best not to try and speak with her about what happened yet. Miss Takinori?”

“Yes?”

“Why don’t you help Kagome into her clothes?”

“Of course.” Kikyo led Kagome into the bathroom and helped her get dressed. “Don’t worry lover, I’m coming with you. I have to make a statement too. Maybe they will let us get cleaned up together at the station since I got some blood on me too. Then I can help you to relax.”

“Was Mr. Nobunaga aware of your relationship with Mr. Hara?”

“Yes he knew and it didn’t matter. He repeatedly said that I belonged to him.”

“Did you have any sort of sexual relationship with Mr. Nobunaga Kagome?”

“Yes but not by choice.”

“He forced you then?”

“Yes, he told me that he had all sorts of connections and could help me make my dream of working for NASA become a reality.”

“Yes.”

“It’s a common scheme that college professors use to lure female students of their choice into a sexual relationship Kagome. Did you think that things would get this out of hand?”

“Absolutely not. But when I started to noticchanchange in Mr. Nobunaga’s state of mind I tried to end the affair.”

“And Mr. Nobunaga refused?”

“Yes, he became very threatening and told me thatwoulwould cause me to flunk out and lose my scholarship if I didn’t continue sleeping with him.”

“So you continued?”

“Against my better judgment, yes.”

“How long was it before Mr. Nobunaga started to become even more unstable?”

“When he discovered I was pregnant.”

“You’re pregnant Kagome?”

“Yes.”

“About how far along?”

“Two months maybe three.”

“And is Mr. Nobunaga the father of your child?”

“Absolutely not! But you can have a paternity test done if you’d like.”

“So when Mr. Nobunaga found out you were pregnant with Mr. Hara’s child he became more emotionally unstable?”

“Yes, he became very violent and would force himself on me several times.”

“Did Mr. Hara know about your sexual relationship with Mr. Nobunaga?”

“Of course not! I love Inuyasha! I couldn’t tell him the disgusting truth about my trysts with Mr. Nobunaga.”

“When Mr. Nobunaga brought you back to his penthouse did he restrain you in any way?”

“Yes he had my hands tied with rope.”

“Did he let you go or did you get out of the ropes on your own?”

“He let me go.”

“Then what happened?”

“He took me to his bedroom and told me to get undressed.”

“And do what?”

“Did you fear your life might be in danger?”

“So Miss Takinori showed up and Mr. Nobunaga let her in?”

Kikyo took the time to speak up. “Officer Muso?”

“Yes Miss Takinori?”

“Do you have names?”

“Yes I know for a fact that Mr. Nobunaga had a sexual relationship with a Miss Rin Pei and a MSangSango Li. But you may want to contact all the female students in his class to get statements about Mr. Nobunaga because I’m certain those aren’t the only girls.”

“I will subpoena Mr. Nobunaga’s grade book and call all the young women who were in his class Miss Takinori. Now Kagome, after Miss Takinori arrived what happened?”

“Mr. Nobunaga ordered her to strip off her clothes as well.”

“Why?”

“Because he was going to rape her after he made her watch him rape me.”

“How was Mr. Nobunaga acting towards Kagome in his bedroom Miss Takinori?”

“Very violently. He said he was going to take what belonged to him. That was when he started trying to force himself on Kagome.”

“What happened next?”

“He was yelling at Kagome to tell him that she was in love with him.”

“Did she?”

“No Kagome refused to tell Mr. Nobunaga that she loved him because she loves her boyfriend Inuyasha Hara and no one else.”

“What did Mr. Nobunaga do when she refused to say she loved him?”

“He started trying to choke Kagome. Hrcedrced her up against the wall beside his dresser and started strangling her.”

“Do you think he was trying to kill Kagome?”

“Absolutely. Because he said that if he couldn’t have Kagome then nobody would have her.”

“Meaning he was going to kill her?”

“Yes.”

“What did Kagome do when Mr. Nobunaga began choking her?”

“At first she barely struggled and then when she realized he was actually going to kill her she started really putting up a fight.”

“What happened next?”

“Kagome reached around blindly for a way to get Mr. Nobunaga to stop choking her.”
ow dow did she do that?”

“She managed to grab the letter opener off Mr. Nobunaga’s dresser and swung it desperately trying to fight him away from her.”

“Is that how Mr. Nobunaga received the injury that killed him?”

“Yes, the letter opener sliced through Mr. Nobunaga’s neck severing a major artery causing him to bleed to death.”

“Was Kagome shocked when Mr. Nobunaga’s blood splattered onto her neck and chest area?”

“Yes she was in complete shock because she hadn’t meant to fatally wound Mr. Nobunaga.”

“Are you certain Kagome didn’t have any intentions of killing Mr. Nobunaga?”

“Absolutely, without a doubt. This was self defense, she was only trying to keep Mr. Nobunaga from killing her.”

“Thank you for your cooperation Miss Takinori, there will be no further questioning.”

“What about Kagome, is she free to go?”

“Yes, however, we will be in touch with toth oth of you so don’t wander too far.” Standing Kagome slowly padded towards the black metal door of the tiny interrogation room. Kikyo opened the door and guided Kagome out of the room.

Inuyasha quickly jumped to his feet. “Are you okay baby girl? Can you go home now?”

“Yeah I can go. Please Yash, just take me home.”

“What about Kikyo?”

“Don’t worry about me you two, I’ll call my roommate. Just go home and get some sleep.”

The car ride home from the station was t mot mostlysilesilence. They were about halfway home when Inuyasha finally broke the nearly suffocating silence. “What the hell happened in his penthouse Kagome? Why were you even there in the first place?” He chanced a glance at his dark haired girlfriend to see the tears glistening in her large pools of blue gray.

Kagome could feel the knots starting to form in the pit of her stomach as she sat there staring silently at Inuyasha. She had always known that she would eventually have to confess her dirty little secret about Sesshomaru Nobunaga to her darling boyfriend, but she didn’t think it would be because of his death. “Well Kagome, are you going to answer me?”

“Look Yash, there’s something I need to tell you, but please just wait until we get back home?”

“Why? And don’t lie to me Kagome.”

“I have no intention of lying to you Yash, but you don’t need to be behind the wheel of your car when you hear what I have to say.”

“Okay, we’ll talk about it when we get home then.”

“I love you Inuyasha.”

“Yeah I know Kagome, I love you too.”

“Please don’t forget that.”

“I couldn’t even if I tried.” The two fell silent once more and didn’t speak again for the remainder of the ride home. Kagome shut her eyes and began trying to calm her nerves and Inuyasha began wondering what Kagome had done that was so bad she didn’t even want to discuss anything until they were back at home.
