Loving My Enemy

A/N: Sesshomaru tells Kouga that he only spared his life for the sake of his mate’s kind heart. Will Sesshomaru break his promise to Rin or will he stay true to his word?

Rin stood outside the wolf den impatiently tapping her foot on the ground. She groaned and turned to Inuyasha giving him an exasperated look. “What is keeping Sesshomaru?”

“I don’t know Rin.”

“Well then perhaps I should go and check on him?” She started towards the entrance of the wolf’s den and Inuyasha quickly snatched her back to her place beside him.

“Fine, you win.” Back inside the dimly lit den Sesshomaru was still towering over Kouga menacingly.

“Now that my beloved mate is no where in sight I shall forewarn you the way that I intended to in the first place.” Kouga stared at the dog demon with wide sapphire eyes.

“But I thought you promised that you wouldn’t kill me.”

“I did promise to not kill you and I keep my word. So heed this warning wolf, you ever touch what belongs to me again and next time I really will kill you. “Yes Sesshomaru, I understand. I will not come near Rin ever again. I am truly sorry for the pain that I have caused you.” Sesshomaru gave an indignant snort and glared icily at the wolf demon kneeling before him.

“You’re apology means nothing to me for it cannot bring back what I have lost. Just remember that Rin is the reason you are still alive. Never forget that you owe your life to her.”

“Yes of course Sesshomaru, I won’t forget.” Kouga watched as the regal demon prince turned on his heel and strode towards the den’s exit. He gave a sigh of relief when Sesshomaru was finally gone from his mountainous home. When Rin saw her mate coming out of the den she practically leapt into his arms. Sesshomaru squeezed Rin as tightly as he could without crushing her ribcage.

“Oh Sesshomaru, what kept you?”

“I just had some unfinished business that I had to take care of Rin.”

“You didn’t kill Kouga did you Sesshomaru?”

“No Rin, I gave you my word and I do not break my promises. The mangy wolf is still breathing. Now let us go home, there is something that I have to take care of right away.” Rin stared up at her mate with curious brown eyes. But she made no motion to speak and simply allowed herself to be swept up into his arms. Inuyasha followed his older brother back in the direction of their home. The sun was sinking below the horizon and was nearly gone by the time the small group reached the large white stone palace. Inuyasha watched as Sesshomaru carried Rin inside the palace and up the long spiral staircase. He knew that Sesshomaru was planning on taking Rin to bed just from the arrogant smirk that was plastered on his face.

Sesshomaru carried Rin into their chambers and shut the door softly behind him. “Sesshomaru, I thought you said that you had something to take care of?”

“I do.”

“Well then what are we doing up here?”

“You’re what I had to take care of darling.” Her cheeks reddened as he set her down on her own two feet. “What else would I need to take care of besides you Rin?” She shrugged as Sesshomaru untied her obi on her crimson colored kimono. Sesshomaru tossed the forgotten obi to the floor and reached up to push the kimono off Rin’s delicate shoulders.
