End of it all

Chapter fifteen: End of it all

The fight had been endless. Over and over Sesshomaru and Inuyasha fought wave after wave of demons. But no matter what, it just seemed like they couldn’t break though. As their bodies began to wear down, the wall of demons disappeared, showing them the castle was dissolving. Without a second thought, Sesshomaru ran forward, his mind set on finding Kagome. What he didn’t expect to see, was her lying there in the middle of a field, clutching a bloodied rock.

“Kagome!” He called, running to her and taking her up in both arms. “Kagome, open your eyes, please.” Though he couldn’t shed a tear, the sky seemed to open up, pouring tears down from the sky. He could feel his heart shattering as he continued to hold her limp form in his arms.

“She’s not breathing…” Sango whispered, her hands over her mouth.

Rin walked over to Kagome, her small hand reaching out. “Kagome-chan?” Her young eyes looked into Sesshomaru’s deep golden. “Sesshomaru-sama, Kagome-chan is going to be alright, right? She’s just sleeping.”

Sesshomaru clutched Kagome’s form against his body. Now he knew how his father felt when he saw Izayoi lying there in the castle. He loved Kagome more then anything. To see her body, bruised, broken, thin, and dead, tore at him. If Naraku were still alive, he would make sure his death was not quick, but so and painful. He would not know the meaning of pain until he was done with the hanyou.

By his side, he could feel his sword pulsating.

“Tenseiga…” He whispered. He almost forgot about his sword. Carefully placing her down on the ground, he drew his sword, his eyes narrowing. The messenger’s of the dead gathered around Kagome’s body, intent on taking her soul to the after life. With a swift swing, he killed them in one blow. Sheathing his sword, he gathered her in his arms once more. “Please, open your eyes Kagome…”

**

Her body felt as if it was floating in an abyss. Kagome had no idea where she was, or how long she had been there, but she was at peace. Sure she had her regrets, but now she could be with Sesshomaru. How she wished she could see him alive again, but as long as they had the after life, she would see him again.

Kagome’s eyes shot open as she felt a tug at her soul. “Wh-“ Before she could form any other words, she was pulled harshly back to the living.

Slowly her eyes began to open once more; this time golden eyes looked at her back. “Sesshomaru…” She whispered, reaching out to touch his perfect face. “I knew I would see you again.”

He grabbed her hand and nuzzled it. “This Sesshomaru never gave you permission to die Kagome.” His words were a little harsh, but his voice was soft and kind.

“You know Kagome, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sesshomaru this compassionate to anyone.” Inuyasha chuckled.

Before words could escape her, she felt a little girl hugging her, and a small kitsune hugging what was left of her that wasn’t being held.

“Rin? Shippo?” She asked, sitting up to hold the two. “I’m glade you two are alright.”

“Rin was so worried!” She cried.

Shippo’s words were only lost to tears as well.

A small smile reached Kagome’s lips as she held the two back. “I’m glade that everyone is safe.” She looked around at the happy faces of her friend’s and comrades. “Now, I don’t know about the rest of you all, but I’m starving!”

**

It had been a week sense the death of Naraku. Kagome sat near the forest, her eyes trained on Kikyo and Inuyasha. They had made one wish when the jewel was whole. The one wish that Kagome made that shocked everyone. She wished that everyone who died at the hands of Naraku and fell to his schemas would come back to life. With that, Kikyo’s body returned to her, Kohaku lived once more, and so did the rest of the village of slayers. After the wish, the group just seemed to break apart from there. Sango and Miroku went to Sango’s village, Shippo was sent off to train with other kitsune’s, and the rest left for Kaede’s village. With the well destroyed on the other side, Kagome had no way to get home.

“Do you miss it?” Sesshomaru asked as he approached her.

Kagome just gave him a small smile. “If you talking about being home, I guess I do. We all found our own happiness, the jewel is gone, but I do miss home.”

Sesshomaru gave a small nod and offered his hand. “Walk with me.” It wasn’t a request. Then again, Kagome knew he never asked for anything. Just demanded everything.

She took his hand with a smile and walked with him though the forest of Inuyasha.

“You know Sesshomaru, when I first got here, I didn’t know what to do. I was scared and felt so alone. Then I slowly met everyone and I didn’t feel so alone anymore. I felt as if I belonged here. After all, I fell in love, lost that love, then fell in love with you. Though, I guess anyone would say that either it was unexpected, or it’s about time we got together.”

Kagome stopped at the tree where Inuyasha was first sealed. “This is where we came though isn’t it? This tree was also the same tree where I met Inuyasha for the first time.” She turned and smiled warmly at him. “He was my first love, but you will forever be my last Sesshomaru.”

The Taiyokai’s eyes narrowed. He pinned her to the tree and kissed her softly. “Lets not talk about him anymore.” He whispered.

The miko giggled. “Alright Sesshomaru.”

As he went to kiss her again, he realized that she wasn’t there. Her scent had vanished as well as her presence. He whipped around, trying to find her, but it was as if she disappeared completely.

**

Kagome stood there, the temple in front of her. “Sesshomaru?” She called, sounding frantic. How did she get back to her own time? Why wasn’t he there with her anymore? “Sesshomaru?” She called out again. Realizing that she came back, and he wasn’t there, the girl fell to her knee’s crying. Five hundred years and he wasn’t here with her anymore. It was her time, but she felt utterly alone without him.

**

A year came and went, and Kagome was already picking herself off the ground. She graduated high school, got into collage, and was going for a degree in history. After all, she did play a big part in it. A year she searched for Sesshomaru. But she never found him. No matter how much she looked, she could never find him.

“Kagome, did you see the new hot guy in our class?” Her friend Eri asked, nudging her in the ribs. “Maybe you can get out of your slump and date this one.”

Kagome gave her friend a look. “I promised Sesshomaru. I would never date anyone except him. I may not have a ring on my finger, but I belong to him and only him. You know that. And I’ve told you that for a year and a half.” She opened her locker and sighed. She did miss him horribly. Her dreams were the only time she saw him.

Eri rolled her eyes. “Whatever Kagome. I’m just saying that he’s not going to come back. If everything you told us is true, there’s no way he could have lived to be over five hundred. Demon or not.”

Kagome slammed her locker, glaring at her best friend. “Don’t say that Eri!” She cried out. “He’s strong enough that he would be able to live that long! I know he’s alive out there. I just know it!”

Her friend didn’t reply. Instead her jaw was dropped and she was staring at someone behind Kagome.

“I’m glade that you have faith in my ability to live a long life.” A voice purred in her ear.

Kagome’s eye’s widened as she whipped around. Sure enough, Sesshomaru stood behind her, his small smirk on his face. His golden eyes looked her up and down, till finally a clawed finger brushed her cheek. “Close your mouth Kagome. Its unbecoming of you to have it gaped open like that.”

She slapped his hand away and threw herself at him, tears running down her cheeks. “You bastard!” She sobbed. “I looked for you everywhere. And that’s all you have to say to me? I was scared that I wouldn’t ever see you again!”

“Your lucky Kagome.” Said the inu yokai. “I had to wait five hundred years for you to even be born. I continued to watch you as you kept disappearing though the well for many years. Then I waited till you recovered enough to see me again. I planed on waiting till after you graduated Collage, but I couldn’t take it anymore.”

Kagome looked up at him, her eyes angry. “Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t be mad at you for waiting so long?” She snapped.

“Because you love me.” With that, he kissed her softly. “And I love you. And this time, I plan on never letting you go.”

The End.

A/N: Holly hell. It’s been a really long time sense I’ve updated this story. Sorry it’s been so long. I just lost all inspiration to write, and then bam, it hit me when I saw all your reviews. It really made me happy to know that you all liked my story a lot. I apologize for not updating sooner, but here you go. The ending of the story. Trust me, I suck at endings. I wanted to end this differently, but I couldn’t help myself. So, I hope you all like it and maybe read my other story that I need to get up and update called ‘Heart made from stone’ Lets just hope I get to updating that soon too… -sighs- maybe I should write more when I’m sick…
