Parallel

Chapter 14:

Inutaisha finished relating their meeting with Naraka and Naraku to the rest of the group. She sat down then pulled Kagoru in a sitting position between her knees. "I don't know what that bitch is up to but I can bet you that they are both in on something dangerous." Kagoru nodded in agreement.

"Why didn't you come and get us you stupid mutt!" Kimi shouted at her.

"I didn't have the time." She said in the calmest voice she could muster. "Did you want me to leave Kagoru alone?"

Kimi did not answer instead she ignored Inutaisha. "Anyway, we are all going to have be careful. Next time I meet that bitch I want to kill her for sure. Inuyasha, I think you and I can do with a little training tomorrow."

Inuyasha nodded his agreement. "Whatever they are up to, we need to find out as soon as possible."

Inutaisha nodded in agreement this time while running her fingers through Kagoru's black hair. Inuyasha noticed that his counterpart was all too calm when with her mate but when apart she became angry faster. "I suggest we take our rest early tonight. I want to get up early in the morning."

Kimi grumbled something that was inaudible to those ears except both Inuyasha and Inutaisha. Inutaisha got to her feet quickly then in a rage, she grabbed Kimi by her ponytail and threw her against a tree. Her eyes glowed red at the wolf demon. "Don't you ever say that again wolf." She then stomped back to Kagoru, picked him up by his jacket, slid open the door to the hut then slammed it shut.

Mirra finally interrupted the silence, "Miroku, I think we were going to talk for a few minutes."

"Yes." Miroku said then followed Mirra. The rest stayed flabbergasted at what they had just seen.

"I wonder if they are asleep." Kagome said as she peered through the rice paper trying to see if there was any shifting movements in the hut.

"Be quiet and go in there." Inuyasha said.

"Are you kidding? I don't want to be yelled at."

"Does Inutaisha strike you as the person who would yell at her mate's counterpart?"

"No."

He sighed. "I'll come in with you."

They silently slid open the door to the hut and peered in. They found both Inutaisha and Kagoru to be sleeping on the other side of the room. Inutaisha had her haori draped over Kagoru's shoulders. His head rested against her chest while an arm lay over her waist.

Inuyasha carefully creeped into the hut to pick up Kagome's backpack. He suddenly heard Inutaisha growl softly then looked up to see her tense. "It's okay. It's just me." He whispered.

She shook her head. "Sorry Inuyasha. I thought you were wolfie for a minute."

"I just need to get Kagome's backpack."

"Go ahead." Inutaisha whispered while stroking Kagoru's hair softly.

Inuyasha picked up Kagome's backpack then turned to leave. "See you in the morning."

"Goodnight." She replied then layed her head back down.

"What did Kimi say?" Kagome asked Inuyasha as she delved through her backpack.

"Something no one should say to a demon who is mating. She told her that Inutaisha was only wanting to go to bed early to exercise her right over Kagoru."

Kagome looked at Inuyasha in disbelief. "That is rude."

"Very. I would have done more than throw her in a tree but I guess she felt that her mate was being threatened and that the most important thing was to get him out of the situation."

"They look so cute together."

"They do." Inuyasha said in agreement. "Well I suppose we better sleep. Tomorrow will come early."

A/N: Sorry to leave off. I want to try to get in two more chapters before Monday. I go back to school on monday.
