Kagome was gone, Sesshoumaru could not believe that after finding his mate and protecting her he had lost her. Sesshoumaru wanted to yell and howl to all the Gods for denying him his one. Sesshoumaru stalked out of his study and out of the castle. He needed to get to Edo. He knew that the well there was how she was able to go between the different eras. As he stood outside with the wind blowing through his silver hair, he growled low in his throat as he changed into his true form. InuYasha’s entire group came running outside when they felt his enormous jyaki.

Sesshoumaru glared at the group before taking off toward Edo in long bounds. InuYasha was confused so he looked at the others before shrugging his shoulders and taking off after his older brother.

“Well what do you think Miroku?” Sango asked the monk quietly.

“I believe that Sesshoumaru is going after Kagome. Although how she left without us seeing her is beyond my understanding.” Miroku became quiet for a moment thinking about his young friend. “I believe we should follow them. We are just wasting time here when they are all going ahead.”

Nodding her head in agreement Sango called Kirara over to her. “Kirara we need to get to Edo fast, can you take us?”

The fire neko changed into her battle form and allowed the two humans to climb onto her back. As she took to the sky Miroku turned and yelled back to Shippou and Rin, “We will return you two stay here and behave yourselves!”

Shippou nodded his head and bit his lower lip trying not to cry. Dahling walked over to the two young ones and stood behind them a moment before going down on one knee. She placed her hands on their shoulders and began talking to them quietly.

Meanwhile with Kagome

Kagome tried to open her eyes, her head hurt, along with every other part of her body. As she slowly opened her eyes she realized that she was not in the present, or the past for that matter. She sat up slowly looking around her. She noticed that she was in a field of wild flowers. The sky overhead was such a clear blue that you would almost swear that you could see right through it. As she stood up she felt a gentle wind playing with her hair and clothes. She saw the flowers dancing in the wind and felt like she didn’t really belong here. She started walking in the direction the wind was blowing. To her it seemed as though the field went on forever. She turned slowly in a circle. When she was once again facing the direction that she had been walking she saw a small cottage not to far away. She made her way to the cottage the wind still with her as though it was guiding her.

When she walked up to the door to the cottage it swung open and there standing in the door was Midoriko. Kagome was somehow not surprised to see the dead Miko here. Midoriko smiled at her and gestured her to come inside the cottage.

“So Kagome, I see that you made it here. That means you figured out that the Jewel was a no-win situation. So instead of wishing something for yourself you allowed two people who deserve more than anyone to live the lifespan of a demon. You could have waited the two weeks before doing anything but you knew that the goodbyes would be harder. I am proud of you. I know that a certain Tai-Youkai is very worried about you but I must ask you a question.”

“Please Midoriko what is your question so I may ask my own.”

“Kagome where does your heart tell you your home is?”


Sesshoumaru was almost to Edo when he felt his brother, the Demon Slayer and the Monk following him. Giving a great growl of annoyance he sped up so he would get there faster.

InuYasha groaned to himself. The bastard had sped up, he couldn’t get to him to ask him what was going on now, he would get to Edo first and heaven help Kaede.

Sango and Miroku had finally caught up with Inuyasha. While travelling they tried to fill him in on what was going on.

“InuYasha! Sesshoumaru is going after Kagome!” Miroku yelled at him.

“What do you mean going after Kagome? She was in his study with him! I was in the hall along with you two; she couldn’t have gotten out without our notice!” InuYasha ground out.

“Be that as it may, she was not at the castle when he left. Can you think of nothing else that would piss the mighty Sesshoumaru off more than his mate being taken away! I don’t think she left on her own!” Sango yelled at the thick-headed Hanyou.

InuYasha’s mouth dropped open and then his eyes grew round as realization sunk in. His brother was going insane because his mate was gone. When he got to Edo there was no telling what he would do. InuYasha starting running faster, wishing now more than ever that he was a full blooded demon.


Kagome sat stunned at what Midoriko asked of her. She stilled her thoughts and tried to listen to her heart. She sat silent in the little cottage for five minutes before she got her answer.

“My home is with Sesshoumaru. Wherever he is, that is where I belong. Midoriko I don’t understand. Does this mean that I will be staying with him?”

“Hai, my child. That is exactly what it means.” Midoriko smiled at her.

“But Midoriko, now I am confused. If I am allowed to stay with him then why was I taken away from him?” The young miko asked.

“So I could talk to you about the pup you carry. Although I should say pups.”

“You mean I carry twins?”

Sesshoumaru landed near Edo Village, he changed back into his human form but his eyes remained red. He stalked through the village and up the hill to the old well. He did paid no notice to the sunshine, or the villagers he scared he was intent on his destination.

InuYasha and the other two landed outside Kaede’s hut. They needed to warn the old Miko of the highly pissed off Youkai.

“Kaede! Kaede! We need to speak with you!” InuYasha yelled out. He walked into the hut and saw the old miko sitting beside her fire.

“What is it ye need InuYasha?” Kaede inquired.

“Sesshoumaru is here and he is PISSED! Kagome was taken from him by the jewel. They have been mated.” InuYasha replied explaining things to her a bit out of order.

“Calm down InuYasha. You say that Kagome and Sesshoumaru have been mated? And that she was taken from him by the Jewel, and now he is here in Edo very upset?”

“Old woman I did not say he was upset. He is way beyond upset, He Is PISSED!” InuYasha practically yelled at her.

“I heard ye the first time InuYasha. I already knew he was here. How could a demon that upset walk through here to the well without me knowing about it?”

“Kaede,” InuYasha began calmly, “you need to put barriers up to protect the village. There is no telling what he will do!” InuYasha tried to impress upon her.

‘I don’t understand it! How can she be so calm about this shit?! Does she not understand that he is a danger in this state?’

*She knows. She is just trying to make us go insane. Don’t put too much into it.*

‘Oh what do you know?’

*More than you that’s for sure.*

‘Grrrrr….’

*Don’t growl at me.*

Kaede grinned at InuYasha. “I have already put a barrier around the village. I let you lot through it so you probably couldn’t tell it was there. Now Monk I need you to help reinforce it. InuYasha you should go and try to reason with your brother.”
