Chapter 15
The Transformation
Rin glanced down when she heard the large wooden doors creak open, and prayed that Sesshomaru was not with the King. She didn’t know who entered the room and was frightened to find out. Rin began to fidget uncontrollably, as she felt Koga nudge her leg gently; reassuring her, that everything was going to be okay.
Rin glanced over at Koga and noticed his head was also lowered. She frowned; it was the King after all. The two sat there quietly until addressed otherwise. She felt humiliated that she didn’t look presentable, and was saddened that she had to relive her past day experiences. She held her tears, as she thought about her father. She couldn’t even give him a proper burial and questioned her father’s motives, blaming him for the malnourished state she was currently in.
Why did he choose to leave instead of staying at the palace? Her mind continued to wonder and question her father’s intentions. She knew she couldn’t change what was, and was confused as to why she was feeling angry with her father—he was dead—however, it was his own fault! She closed her eyes trying to fight back the tears of her sorrow and guilt. If we would have stayed we would have been safe…mother would still be alive and father you would have been well also. Why did you have to follow that bastard of a man: Naraku!
Sesshomaru strolled in the room after his father. His eyes widened when a familiar scent tantalized his nose, however when he looked at the two peasants sitting at the table, he frowned. He didn’t’ recognize neither one of them: but why would he? He hasn’t associated with peasants, for years; with the acceptation of Kagome.
“Please, state your names and why Prince Inuyasha has stated that you need my protection?” the king questioned as his deep authoritative voice echoed throughout the room.
Rin’s heart skipped a beat, as the king spoke. She was nervous and tried to pull the lump down that gathered in her throat, as the deep voice echoed around the room.
“That is correct, your highness.” Koga responded, slightly with a stutter. He hoped all went well and weren’t cast off into the damp dungeons somewhere in the deep dark recesses of the palace…or worse off, if the king knew the real reason they were there would he send them back? Koga didn’t’ want to think about the consequences and prayed that the king was a good man; not like the lord he just escaped with the help of Shippo.
When the commoners glanced up gazing at his father, Sesshomaru’s eyes widened “Rin?" He said her name softly, but he wasn’t sure though if it was even her. However, the scent was somewhat familiar, even with his sensitive sense of smell, the dirt and ill stench of malnutrition covered the once rosy scent he remembered.
“My son, do you know this girl?” The king required softly with a curious undertone.
“I’m not sure father.” Sesshomaru hesitantly responded. However, he wasn’t shocked when his father did not inquire, but only nodded and turned to the young wolf prince. He kept watching Rin from behind the king and noticed that she only glanced up but her bangs covered her eyes.
Sesshomaru’s eyes widened…it was her! Moreover, he recalled the bright smile that she once adorned– now she looked sad and forlorn. He growled softly earning the look from both Koga and his father. However, the woman kept her head down. He was certain it was her—even if Rin was just a young girl—he knew and all he could do was to watch her and listen intently to the conversation at hand.
“Sire,” Koga paused, not sure as to what to tell the king. “A friend saved us from Naraku’s punishment.”
The king narrowed his eyes, and responded heatedly. “And what did you two do, to upset the lord?”
Rin cringed hearing the anger in the kings’ voice, and spoke softly, “Your majesty…we were sentenced to death.” Rin jumped slightly when Koga placed his hand on her shoulder.
“Sire, what she is trying to say is: that our families couldn’t pay the taxes and Lord Naraku sent out men to eradicate the problem.” Koga paused taking in a deep breath. Koga thought about his own family, which he probably would never see again. “Lord Naraku sentenced one of the family members to death to repay the debt owed to him and a fox demon named Shippo helped us escape. He told us to find the old woman Kaede, but unfortunately, she has passed.”
The king cringed, he heard of lords before treating their people cruelly, however turned a blind eye to it. He would never dream of treating his own kingdom in this manner. The kings mind raced with anger, and yet still wouldn’t’ interfere. It wasn’t his place to interfere with another kingdom and even if Sango was right—he still had no proof. “And that is how you ran into my son?”
“Yes sire.” Koga said.
The King approached the table, “you may stay here…I offer my home as a place of sanctuary, but I’m sorry I will not be able to help your families. They are under God’s hands now.” Taking his hand and placing them under Rin’s chin, he lifted her face up to meet his amber eyes. “My dear, may I ask your name, my son thinks that he knows you.”
Rin could not refuse an order from the king, and yet she hesitated responding to his inquiry, instead she looked past the king at the man she once admired and thought of as a hero. She wanted to hide once again, but the kings’ firm grip prevented such. A single tear escaped her reddened eyes sliding down her pale cheek. “Your highness, my name is Rin.”
Sesshomaru gasped—it was her—he knew it! Yet, remained quiet, he would have time later to speak with her.
The king smiled softly, his eyes squinting in recognition. He remembered her now that he had seen her face, and her lush brown eyes. “I remember you…your mother was a gardener and your father worked as a blacksmith…am I correct?”
“Yes, your highness.” Rin tried to smile however, with the mention of her father it quickly faltered back into a frown.
Sesshomaru remained with his stoic expression, and seeing her in this condition made his blood boil, even if he hid it from everyone present in the room. If there ever was a woman…a human woman that he ever enamored with, it was Rin. He never stopped thinking about her. Yet, Kagome, he knew it was just lust—but with Rin—it was love.
“My child,” the king responded softly. “You are safe here, why so sad?”
Rin couldn’t contain her emotions any longer. “Forgive me your highness, but my father just passed today and I haven’t had time to even morn his death.” She broke down crying. “I couldn’t even see to it that he got a proper burial!”
With Rin’s sudden outburst, Koga cringed, feeling that his sanctuary would be stripped away. He knew how Royalty could be: cold and cruel to their people, because commoners did not have rights. Not to mention that it was unspeakable to yell, or in any manner disrespect the lords and ladies that is, if you valued your life! However, Koga was surprised when the king didn’t even blink an eye, but his gaze was soft, not cruel like Lord Naraku. It even shocked him more, when the king wrapped his arms around Rin giving the girl a hug—like a father would hug their child.
Rin taken back with the warm but forceful hug opened her eyes peering over the king’s shoulder, making eye contact with Sesshomaru. However, the prince looked away immediately, making her cry harder. She was right, the prince was disgusted with her, and the conformation confirmed when he suddenly retreated out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
Little did Rin know the real reason why the prince left—and it wasn’t because he was disgusted with her—no he was disgusted with the situation that she was currently in, and Sesshomaru was out for vengeance. Naraku would pay for even considering harming Rin.
Sesshomaru just couldn’t’ deal with the thought that she was under such a fragile state, it was almost like her spirit had been broken and he wasn’t sure if he was the one to fix it, but he would do everything in his power to try.
Kagome was the first to awake and noticed it was almost sundown. She cringed with pain and discomfort when she tried to move however, that reminder was lying next to her still asleep. She thought, she had the most magnificent dream however, the more she awoke, the further she remembered earlier that day. She groaned, I am so weak—I cannot believe I just caved and slept with him. Although, I’d never expected it to be so…so, wonderful!
Kagome’s body continued tingling, as she recalled her innovating experience. She blushed fiercely as she thought about feeling him again…inside her. She wanted to feel the pleasurable pain, the rough gyration from his firm pelvic thrusts.
She groaned silently, as she replayed the scene in her head. The mental images of soft touches and passionate kisses filled her head. She closed her eyes tightly. She couldn’t fall in love,—however she knew that it was to late, and that Cupid had already shot his arrow into her heart. How would she survive now, if she were to return to her time? She knew that now would be impossible and would never be able to leave him, no matter how bad she protested her feelings.
Maybe she could convince herself that this was one time ordeal. One magical time, and hopefully get on with her daily life– without the temptation of sleeping with him again. However, now that she’d been with him, she knew that it was logically impossible. Kagome was at a loss.
Kagome continued to berate herself silently. She wanted to run…but where would she go? In addition, she knew that he was sure to find her, if she decided to flee. She tried getting up however Inuyasha had other ideas.
She closed her eyes tightly, as she felt his arm tighten around her bare waist, bringing her limp body closer to his. Oh, God, she groaned. He looked so peaceful, so happy, and knew that she couldn’t follow up with her thoughts; all she could do was cave to her hearts wishes…her desires, only to be with this man all over again.
“Did you sleep well?” Inuyasha asked, nuzzling her neck. Never in his life did he feel so content; he’d never felt like this with Kikyo.
Inuyasha began to nip and kiss the base of Kagome’s neck, feeling her pulse rapidly beat against her flesh. In addition, the soft moans she released, aroused him to no ends. He died, he was sure of it! Kagome’s scent tantalized his sensitive nose, the scent of wildflowers and lust permeating the air, was sending him into new feelings of euphoric pleasures. It didn’t take much to have her once again in a compromising position, as he ravaged her body repeatedly. There was no way that he could possibly lose her now, and would fight his family—even if it meant losing his crown—just to spend the rest of his life with the woman who captivated his heart.
Naraku rode hard with Kikyo hanging on tightly to his waist. He was confident enough that his spell would hold. He defiantly didn’t want to be caught by the two knights, that he ran into before—it would surly ruin any plans that he had conjured up.
Kagome arose, watching the prince lustfully as he began to replace his tunic. She sighed, in frustration as he covered his chest. “Do we have to go back?” she asked as she stood and stretched, slowly running her hand across her sensitized body.
Inuyasha chuckled, as he approached her, kissing her tenderly on the lips as his hands entwined in her hair. “Unfortunately, yes.” He could see the disappointment etched all over her face. “Besides…if we don’t return to the palace, I’m sure that my father would send a search party.”
Kagome smiled slightly, her voice was soft but with a hint of amusement. “Let them send their search party.” She said seductively, kissing him again.
Inuyasha frowned, “as much as I would like to stay and make love to you over again. Unfortunately, we have dinner plans.” He replied pulling her closer to him. “Besides, you haven’t seen the wrath of my parents.” Pulling her away, he looked into her bright hazel eyes that were filled with nothing but lust and admiration towards him. He certainly had a hard time with his decision of wanting to leave.
She gave a half-hearted smile, as his amber eyes bore into her very soul; sending shivers of desire racing throughout her body. Sighing she began to rummage around for her missing clothes in the tall blades of grass. Retrieving the cobalt blue dress, she brushed the loose grass off, praying that no stains bestowed the gown.
Pulling the dress over her head, she frowned when she realized that she couldn’t lace the gown. She looked at her lover for help, and rolled her eyes when he gave her a cocky grin. Tease, she thought, he just had to stand there while I fight my very being not to pounce him. She closed her eyes, trying desperately to distill the image and control her wonton desires. Therefore she needed to gain control and looking at him became her weakness, so she turned her back against him, however she didn’t expect the tingling shock of his soft yet firm hand all over her bare back and jumped slightly.
Twilight was approaching quickly than neither one anticipated. Inuyasha begin to feel dizzy almost quickly and unexpected. He knew that they needed to leave at once. “Come we must—?”
However, Kagome never expected the young prince to collapse, when she heard a sounding thud. Turning around quickly she knew her confirmation was indeed correct. Inuyasha, laid there in a fetal position. “Oh my god... Inuyasha, what’s the matter?” Of course, she felt stupid for asking a question she knew he could not possibly know the answer to.
Kagome kneeled beside him, as she listened to him whimper in pain. “Please, Inuyasha get up!” she begged, the only response was a painful grunt. She began to panic, as the sun settled behind the tall trees of the forest. Light that once bestowed the couple was silently fading. Crying she began to nudge him, only to earn a violent growl from her lover. Backing away, she watched in awe, as the prince began to transform before her eyes.
Inuyasha couldn’t understand what was happening to him…he felt like his body was being ripped in two. The pain was unbearable, and everything around him became a muffled blur. The pain was nothing he’d ever felt before; it felt like dozens of daggers pierced through his skin.
It happened so quickly that Kagome couldn’t believe that Inuyasha was transforming right before her eyes. She felt so helpless and there wasn’t anything she could do to help him; with one last whimper Inuyasha’s transformation was complete. There he lay as a large white wolf. “Inuyasha…” she said hesitatingly.
Inuyasha’s large triangular ears perked hearing his name called out by a familiar voice. Opening his eyes slowly he was grateful that the pain had finally ceased; blinking a couple times, he tried to grasp what actually had happened to him. He shook his head, however he realized it wasn’t normal, his once long silver hair was fur, “what in the hell?” but his voice came out a growl. His heart raced slowly as he continued looking over his new body. He had a long white tail, and he began wagging it—it felt odd and unexplainable. Crossing his bright golden eyes, his nose was longer, a white snout to be exact. Finally, everything screamed inside him when he realized that he was a wolf.
He absolutely despised the wolf-demons and their four legged companions. Koga came to mind, when he tried to woo Kagome. However, that familiar voice reminded him where he was and what he was doing prior to his transformation. He was fighting the call of the wild and his inner self. The smell of fear, he recalled that scent. He stared at the human and shook his head, no… not just any human his human.
Kagome’s eyes widened when he growled at her and could not help but ask was this the end? She couldn’t help but wonder: would Inuyasha recognize her? She was afraid, but refused to leave him. She knew deep down that he wouldn’t hurt her, at least that’s what she hoped. She knew that she could not outrun him, if she decided to try to escape. “Inuyasha…” She called out his name, and had a hard time grasping that she was talking to a wolf.
Standing up, he had a hard time getting used to him being on all fours instead of two legs. I cannot believe this I am a damn wolf! How did this happen? Looking at Kagome, he decided to try out his new body. It was amazing; it was as if he was walking on four legs the entire time. Inuyasha’s primal instinct was more acute and the urge to run after a rabbit, which was in the nearby field, was strong.
Kagome stood her ground as Inuyasha approached her slowly with his head down. He occasionally looked away, yet remained on course. He was handsome as a man but magnificent as an animal, as she watched him in awe. What little light the moon provided, revealed his white shiny coat, its silvery undertone, and his illuminating golden eyes.
She smiled when he laid his head down in submission, wagging his tail in a friendly gesture. She slowly stretched out her hand, as his snout met her. “You do recognize me…oh god Inuyasha what has happened to you?”
The only response he could muster was a whimper and a snort, also showing his distain for the condition he was currently experiencing.
“Its dark Inuyasha, your family has got to be worried; I expect that search party any time now.”
Inuyasha closed his eyes; he could never go back to the palace looking like a beast. He probably would be attacked if he even crossed the protection gates. “No, going home was not an option!” he snarled, baring his long fangs. He stopped suddenly when the scent of fear, relished his nose. Damn it he had to control his emotions, as he began licking her hand gently.
Kagome patted his soft fur; in a weird way, he was communicating with her. “It’s okay Inuyasha, I understand. But I’m not leaving you here alone.”
Inuyasha ruffed in his wolfish way, almost in a defeating tone. He stood and gently placed his mouth over her hand—gently biting her—in a leading manner. He was pleased that she responded by following him. It was dark, and knew what little light the moon provided wasn’t enough for her human eyes. The crickets sang in the background as he led her towards the protection of the forest. He knew that only another human would pose a serious threat to him.
The King was furious as his enraged voice carried across the silent palace. He already had sent out Miroku and Sango to search for his son. He couldn’t understand why it was so hard that his youngest couldn’t’ even make it to dinner with his family and their new guests.
Kagome felt safe as she sat on the leaf-covered ground, nearby was a small pond where he led her to wash earlier, as he stood ground. Now she sat here partially dry and chilled to the bone. What was worse, she had no idea on how to build a fire, even when Inuyasha brought back twigs in his mouth. She frowned, now they had Inuyasha’s slobber on them, as she gently took them out of his mouth. She didn’t say anything, and felt bad for even being disgusted with his slimy saliva. “I’m sorry.” She said softly.
Inuyasha rose his head in confusion what did she mean sorry? She didn’t do anything wrong? He nudged her gently and was grateful she hugged him back. He lowered his head as she whimpered across his back and could feel her hands fist in his fur. He prayed that soon he would be back to his normal self.
With a whimper, he drew Kagome’s attention and she leaned back gazing into his golden remorseful eyes—those very eyes, which were the same before his transformation. Slowly approaching her, Inuyasha leaned his wet snout onto the side of her cheek; reassuring her silently, that everything will pass and that he loved her in his best canine affection.
Later in the evening, the two cuddled together, desperately trying to keep her warm since they were unsuccessful with the fire. A twig snapped somewhere in the distance and Inuyasha’s ears immediately perked up in-tune with his surroundings. Growling slightly he was warning any intruder—who was wise—that a wolf was nearby.
Slowly Inuyasha rose, from his resting place, grateful that Kagome did not awake. Slowly he stalked his way towards the sound of the noise. Sniffing the surrounding area, he could smell no other humans only the local wildlife. However, the further he ventured he caught a familiar scent, and relaxed—it was only his horse. He approached the horse cautiously; he didn’t want to be kicked by one of the beasts powerful hooves. However, the horse wasn’t even bothered that a large white wolf was approaching it. Inuyasha stopped; did his horse recognize him? Grabbing the loose reigns in his mouth the horse whinnied and effortlessly followed him.
Returning to camp Inuyasha was pleased that Kagome didn’t stir and returned to curl his massive body around her petite frame. Together the slept silently while the horse remained.
