Away From Me

Chapter 15 Saturday (6th Moon) part 2

Kagome looked on as Sesshomaru walked away down the hall. A sense of gloom hung about his shoulders and she wished she could comfort him more. Stepping into her chambers she saw the large bundle and got giddy at the thought of what he could have gotten her.

Sitting on the bed she used her claws to slice the twine that held it together. Folding back the paper the most gorgeous black Kimono was reveled to her eyes. Taking it out she knew why he wished her to wear it tonight. The front was decorated with small little paw prints on the shoulders. But the back was an entirely different situation. Embroidered in vibrant colors was a sketch of Sesshomaru in his full demon form. The under layer was a brilliant white. It too dipped to allow her wings the clearance they needed. Under the kimono was a pair of slippers that were black with white paw prints scattered around the toes.

Kagome hugged them to her chest knowing that the rest of her life was just starting.

She slipped into the warm water of the hot spring as it rose over her body and eased the tensions she had felt earlier. Kagome washed her body and hair with the soaps she had found earlier and made herself smell the best she could possibly. Looking at her fingers after soaking awhile she noticed that she was starting to prune. Getting out of the spring she dried off and pulled on a robe walking into her room and sat before the large vanity.

Kagome brushed her hair out and dried it along the way. She put on her undergarments and then went about putting on the elaborate kimono. The under layer was first and she made sure it was perfectly placed before she slid the black silk onto her form. It fit like a second skin and formed to the curves of her body.

Rose stepped into the room while Kagome was looking at herself in the mirror. “Kagome you look beautiful. Allow me to fix your hair” Rose said guiding Kagome to the seat once more. Carefully she parted her hair and began to pin it up leavening long strands around her face. Rose finished with the up do as a soft knock was heard. “Enter” Kagome said standing and giving a hug to her friend knowing it was time to face the sharks.

A servant who she had seen a several occasions entered the room and bowed low. “Lady Kagome, Lord Sesshomaru has sent me to collect you for the dinner. Please follow me.” the girl said holding the door open for Kagome. Kagome looked back to Rose as she went out of the door and gave her a sad smile. As soon as doors shut behind her Kagome placed a mask upon her face and made her way to the dinning hall following a servant who she barley knew.


The hum of voices could be heard, and laughter here and there. The large doors appeared almost out of nowhere before Kagome as she let out a breath she barley knew she was holding. ‘You can do thins, you won Sesshomaru. If you can do that this will be easy as pie’ her beast said trying to comfort her. ‘Thank you, keep close in case I need you please’ Kagome replied. ‘Of course’ it said disappearing enough so that Kagome knew it was their in case she needed it.

The doors opened slowly before her, she could hear the voices stop as her entrance was made. Her vision went blank; she could not see those around her. Kagome stepped into the room to a gasp she knew came from Kouga. A low growl was heard from Inuyasha, bringing the world back into focus. Old demons were around the large table. Sesshomaru stood at the far end of the room looking at her with cold eyes, she knew he wanted to hold her but showing emotion was not the best decision at the moment. All eyes were on her form. Lowly Kagome bowed to the guest and rose back up. Slowly she made her way to Sesshomaru her features never faltered as the eyes followed her progress. Sesshomaru offered her a hand which she took. He pulled her to his side and placed his arm around her waist.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to present Kagome, the future lady of the Western lands” Sesshomaru’s strong voice boomed out.

All the lords nodded their heads in recognition. All but one that was, Kouga was beyond furious. His woman was standing by another and she was allowing him to touch her. Red was creeping into his eyes and he could not stop the progression.

A low growl was emanating near the center of the table. The eyes that were trained on Kagome before were now on the wolf lord who was looking venomously at the couple at the head of the table. Inuyasha was directly across from him in a simple red kimono top with a black obi and black hakamas. He looked at the wolf and then at Sesshomaru and Kagome. He knew it was not going to be good.

Kouga rushed to the couple not knowing the danger he was going to get into. Two clawed hands reached and grabbed the wolf at the same time stopping him mere inches from his target.

Sesshomaru saw the blood lust in his eyes and knew if he got to Kagome she was going to be taken with force. He summoned Rose to the room and she popped out of no where. “Take Kagome to my personal chambers I will call for you when it is safe for her return” Sesshomaru growled out at the scent of Kagome’s fear. And turned his head and gave her a look that told her not to be afraid.

Rose grabbed Kagome and transported them to Sesshomaru’s bed room. She held the girl for a moment rubbing her back to quell the fear she sensed in the girl. Kagome pulled away to look around and blushed when she realized where she was.

Rose looked at her friend and smiled at the blush that crept on her cheeks. “You better got used to this room I have feeling that you and lord Sesshomaru will be spending a lot of time in here” Rose said giggling as anger replaced Kagome’s emotion. “You get your mind out of the gutter before I make you” Kagome said pouncing on her friend and pinning her to the floor. “Mercy” Rose said. Kagome let her up in an instant. Getting up and walking further into the room. It was beautiful, black, gold, silver, and white were the main colors that were used. A large bed was in the center of the room covered in luxurious fur. Large black dressers sat in the room flanking the bed. Kagome walked to a curtain covered window and discovered it led to a balcony that overlooked the gardens. Rose looked with interest as Kagome looked over the room making her way to the bed and sitting down.

She didn’t want anyone to know just how scared she really was about what was happening down stairs. Kagome felt the fur under her and liked how the bed smelled heavily of Sesshomaru it was almost like being in his arms.

With the Demon Lord

As soon as Sesshomaru felt Kagome’s presence leave the room he let out a feral growl. “You dare come near my perspective mate wolf?” he growled out barely keeping his blood at bay for not only his sake but Kagome’s as well. He knew what would happen if he didn’t keep himself in check and knew what he was capable of, this was scaring the hell out of him because his instincts were going into overdrive. Sesshomaru wanted to protect future mate and he would do anything to keep her as ‘his’.

Inuyasha looked to his brother and saw the internal battle that was raging inside. Although he was not full demon he knew that when another jeopardized the relationship of a perspective mate the Male would fight for female and usually end up taking her with force if necessary. Not a good thing for Kagome to go through especially since she was so innocent.

“Kouga how many times has Kagome told you she isn’t going to be your mate” Inuyasha said releasing the demon form his grasp and crossing his arms. “Besides you are promised to Ayame, I bet she would be upset if she found you here making a spectacle of yourself in front of some of the most influential demon’s” he continued like he was talking about the weather.

By this time Sesshomaru was somewhat coherent and in control but could snap at any moment. Kouga was still pissed off but scared at being in between the two Inu brothers. “I told her she was my mate” he growled out jerking his arm out of Sesshomaru’s hand earning him five gashes in his arm.

“Did she ever say yes to the proposal?” Sesshomaru asked looking at Inuyasha for support on the question if needed. The wolf paled but kept strong. “Not in those exact words no, but…” Kouga was cut off buy Sesshomaru. “Then your claim is not valid” he said the red Receding from his eyes.

Von, one of Sesshomaru’s close allies stepped forward to say a word, he wore a blue top and white hakamas that stood out against his waist long blond hair. He was a dog demon form another tribe and knew Sesshomaru since they were pups. “Kouga you have dishonored your name by this display and if what Lord Sesshomaru is saying it true you should have controlled your desires you have caused great turmoil tonight by your actions. Not only are you upset but I can clearly see the he is not well also. Go back to your lands Kouga, do not show your face in this house again until you can learn to control your demon blood” the young man said making Kouga’s tail fell as he was escorted out of the hall.

“Let this be a show to all of you gathered Sesshomaru’s future mate is going to be well protected by him and his brother as well as others. If you wish to do harm to her I would advise against it. From what I have seen she is no one to mess around with” Von continued looking at his closest friend. “Now let us sit so that the dinner may continue” he said taking his own seat.

Sesshomaru excused himself so he could get Kagome from his chambers and calm his nerves in her scent. His beast was still restless and it needed to know if she still favored him. Nearing his doors he felt her presence and it was sleeping.

With the girls a little before Sesshomaru’s entrance

It had seemed like forever that Sesshomaru had sent her way. Kagome was now sleeping on the bed. Rose was sitting on a couch just about to fall into the land of dreams when she felt Sesshomaru’s presence enter the room she turned to see what he would do about Kagome.

Sesshomaru looked at Rose and motioned for her to leave. She rose and left the two to deal with what was going on and stood outside the door so she could listen to the conversation.

He crept to her side and liked the look of her stretched on the large bed. Careful not to disturb her sleep he crawled to her side and snuggled against her body allowing her aura to cover his own, easing his frayed nerves. Kagome awoke at the touch of his hands on her body and she snuggled into him.

“Sesshomaru what happened?” she asked looking out into the darkening room. “He was reprimanded and sent away from my lands for the time being. Von, one of my childhood acquaintances stood up for you and our relationship and warned the guest that it would be unwise to cross you” Sesshomaru said pressing his nose further into the neck. Kagome nodded her head and pulled him closer to her body. “We should get back to your guest; they will be waiting for us” Kagome said. “We could always send Rose down and tell them we will not make them, couldn’t we Rose?” Sesshomaru said smirking as he heard the girl fall against the wall. “But you are right I can not stay up here with you as much as I would like it” he said pulling away and sitting them both up. Kagome looked at him and smiled. “You sure have changed since the first time I meet you” she said pulling him into a kiss. He pulled away “and you are still the impulsive wench I met” he said smiling as he kissed her again quelling the anger he had stirred up.

They made it down to dinner and after a few words they finally got to eat. When every one was finished they all retired to the large meeting room where they talked about various things until Sesshomaru finally dismissed them for the night. By the time the last one left the room Kagome had already fallen asleep in Sesshomaru’s chair.

Carefully he picked her up and took her to her bed chambers and placed her in the bed. Leaning down he kissed her forehead and took off her slippers. He pulled up the covers and left the room to go to his own.

When he entered it he groaned smelling Kagome’s scent on his bed, it was going to be one long night.
