Lost Time and Bloody Betrayals

Chapter Fifteen

'So this is Yomi's city, very nice.' Kagome looked out the window, the view was lovely. She wondered if he'd put her in this room for a reason. Maybe wanting to show her what he had accomplished since she last saw him. She had to admit that she was impressed with it, he'd done well for himself. He had yet to acknowledge that he knew her, he'd been polite but distant. Should she speak to him and find out for sure?

Sesshoumaru had left her alone sometime ago along with Shippo. Wanting to check out the city for himself no doubt. Kirara mewed softly beside her rubbing against her leg. "Wanna go for a walk girl?" Kagome picked the neko up cradling her.

She stepped out the door deciding she'd give herself a tour of the place. Yomi had said to make herself at home so she'd do exactly that. A few youkai walked around but didn't pay attention to her. There was doors and hallways everywhere, she wasn't sure which direction to head in. She concentrated on locating Yomi, a gasp hit her. The aura with his was one she'd never forget not even after six months. It had to be Youko with him, they were together again? Had Yomi forgiven him for trying to kill him, then again after all this time. A thousand years was a long time to hold a grudge. Where had Youko been earlier? She hadn't seen him in the room, had he been hiding from her?

Indecision filled her, Yomi was one thing but did she want to see Youko again? After all he had tossed her out on her ass. She would have exptected that from Yomi, he'd made it clear he didn't like her. But Youko had been her lover and he'd gotten rid of her like yesterday's newspaper.

She was curious also, was he still the same after so long? Maybe she should just walk by wherever they were and take a peak inside. Not stop to talk, just a quick walkby inspection. She took a left at the next hall, they were in a room further down to the right. There was no way they wouldn't sense her coming, the talking stopped before she could make out what was being said.

Her curiousity got the better of her as she walked past, her eyes looked in the room. Yomi was the first one she saw, then he moved. Her eyes widened, she'd thought he looked familiar before. About two years ago, Yuka had pointed the guy out in the mall. She'd said his name was Shuichi, he went to a different school than them. Having Inuyasha on the brain she hadn't payed much attention to the guy. Of course she hadn't gone back a thousand years yet either. Shuichi was also Youko, how the hell had that happened?

His large green eyes met hers, her breath caught. She saw the recognition in them leaving her without a doubt who he was. So neither he or Yomi had seen fit to speak to her earlier. Why would they, she'd been nothing more than a human female they'd once known. She had been of no great importance to either.

Her head turned and she continued her walk, an odd ache within her chest. Kirara sensed her distress and tried to comfort her. What now? Could she stay here knowing that her former lover was here as well? She'd already told this Koenma that she would but it wasn't like she owed him anything. She was her own person and she could purify his ass if he got too bitchy. Staying around those two would be hard. For them over a thousand years had passed but it had been only a little over six months for her.

She got further down the hall before Kirara started growling. Kagome saw the youkai heading towards her as the neko jumped out her arms and transformed. She scanned the aura of the man as Kirara let out a loud growl. A tenacle shot forth aiming for her, the barrier came up with a second to spare. It impacted hard, "Kirara, no." She screamed when the barrier was surrounded by several of the appendages, trying to squeeze it around her. "Get Sesshoumaru," Kirara charged the man disobeying her. Her fangs sank into his shoulder, he threw her against the wall.

The neko got back to her feet as two men appeared, the tenacles were cut. Kagome wasn't sure what happened her vision blocked. The appendages fell to the ground, she looked up to see Yomi in front of her.

"You can drop it, he's dead."

Relief filled her, saved by the blind. Kirara came running over to her unhurt, "Thank you." He still had his head turned ignoring her.

"Why couldn't we sense him?" He looked at the corpse, speaking to Kurama.

"I'm not sure, even now its hard to smell him." His voice was heard answering as Kagome continued to stare at Yomi's back. "Seems the neko recognized his scent when he got close enough. Still he shouldn't have been able to just walk right in without anyone taking notice. How was it done?"

"Maybe we should ask Koenma or Sesshoumaru."

Anger filled her, neither sensing it due to barrier still being up. They could turn around and ask her instead of acting like she wasn't there. If anyone would know it would be her. She doubted that Koenma knew that much, and Sesshoumaru hadn't gone after the hanyou until after he'd kidnapped Rin. Naraku had tried to stay away from the Lord when it became obvious he couldn't kill him. If anyone knew first hand what Naraku was capable of it was her. Those stuck up bastards, how dare they ignore her. She lifted her foot keeping her barrier in place so he couldn't sense what she was about to do. Her foot slammed into his ass jolting him forward. "That's how he did it, you ass. You two could ask me instead of pretending I'm not here. After having Naraku trying to kill me for over two years I think I would know what he is capable of. You two haven't changed at all, both still assholes. Come on Kirara, since we aren't wanted here. I prefer your company anyways, atleast you're housetrained."

They watched her walk away followed by the neko. Kurama started laughing at the look of shock on his friend's face. "She hasn't changed at all, what do you say we go talk to her?"

"Think we should give her time to calm down?"

"We could but then we'd have to try to find her without the inu. He will return soon I am sure, something tells me he won't like either of us around her." Kurama watched her turn the corner heading back to her room. "You could stay here so I can speak to her alone."

"And give you time to seduce her again, I think not."

Kurama looked at the man, "I see, so you see this as your chance?"

"What are you trying to say Kurama?"

"Don't play coy Yomi, it doesn't suit you. You wanted her before but I had her. If I would have left her alone you would have eventually tried for her. I just beat you to it, taking her before you could. Even after all this time you still want her. You no longer have to worry about me, since circumstances have changed." When he didn't deny what was said Kurama continued. "What makes you think I will step aside for you? She was mine and will be again if I decide I want her."

"So sure of yourself aren't you. If I remember correctly, you gave up your claim when you tossed her aside. Do you think she has forgotten that? You don't have to step aside, cause there are ways to work around you. I will try for her, I don't wish to fight over her. In the end the decision will be hers." He started walking down the hall heading in the direction she'd just gone.

He entered her room without knocking, he felt her anger at the intrusion. "Calm yourself Kagome. I came to speak to you."

She eyed him then Youko as he walked into the room. "So which is it now, Youko or Shuichi?"

"How do you know my human name?" He asked, surely she hadn't heard it here.

"I was told who you were about two years ago. One of my friends pointed you out one day at the mall, then she couldn't stop talking about you. Seemed she had a crush on you, can't imagine why."

"Why didn't you speak to me then?"

"Because I hadn't gone back yet! I hadn't met either one of you then. I wish I hadn't met either one of you." She threw at them.

"That's not very nice Kagome." Kurama scolded her.

"Yeah, well neither was you throwing me out like I was a piece of trash. You know I was almost raped and killed because you had to be an fuckhole and break my bow. Just because I played the whore for you didn't mean I was willing to do it for any youkai that happened by me."

"I did not think of you that way." He tried to soothe her anger.

"You're right, a whore would have gotten paid. I didn't even get a 'Thank you babe, I really had a good time.' All I got was, 'Leave now or I'll kill you.' Get out of my room now, you jerk before I kick your ass."

"Leave before I kill you both," Sesshoumaru spoke from the doorway. He watched both men leave without speaking again. Not much they could say, Kagome wasn't going to listen.
