The Past To Hate

Chapter Fifteen


Kagome felt herself falling and screamed. Had she really just been propelled to her death by a girl she'd started to consider a friend? A hand covered her mouth.

"Shhh, let him think we are dead." Leiko whispered into her ear. They were still falling, blackness was all around them.

Kagome didn't know how she was expected not to scream while they fell to their deaths. Yet she remained quiet. Suddenly they stopped in midfall. They had to be over two hundred feet down. It was like floating in nothingness. She could hear her heart beating wildly.

"We will wait until he is gone then head up."

"Are we floating?" Kagome didn't feel the ground under her feet but couldn't feel herself falling. Then she heard it, a flapping sound. It wasn't too loud she had to strain to hear it over the rain and wind. "Where is that sound coming from, sounds like wings."

"Good hearing, I'm suprised you could hear them over this weather."

"Holy shit, you have wings. You can fly?" Kagome felt relief rush her. "Why didn't you tell me that before we jumped?"

"Then Naraku would know and would have persued us down here. Let him think we jumped to our deaths for now. Frankly, he disgusts me." She waited several minutes until his evil aura was completely gone. "I think he is gone, want to try going up?"

"Sure," Kagome felt the air rush past her as they began to climb. It felt wonderful. She began to laugh, "How fast can you go?"

"I only recently discovered that being created from a demon that could change his form had benifits. I haven't experimented that much yet."

"Wow, lets see." The girl giggled as she felt the air rush by faster as Leiko picked up speed. They were soon rising faster than they had fallen. She broke out in laughter at the feeling. It was exhilerating, the feeling of pure freedom. Leiko started laughing, Kagome's joy being very contagious. "Faster."

Leiko could see the lip, they'd traveled some as they fell. The wind being strong causing them to shift while hanging mid-air. They passed the lip into the night sky several yards from where they'd first went in. They soared straight up into the sky, Kagome laughing the whole time. They heard the others calling to them, waving frantically. "Ready to go down?"

"No, lets go for a ride. They know we are okay. Please, this if fun. I'm not too heavy am I?"

Leiko laughed behind her, "No, I'm not human anymore Kagome. If that is your wish then we will. But lets swing by to let them know we will be right back." She dove down towards the group. She passed by within several feet of their heads.

Kagome waved at them and called out. "We'll be right back you guys." She laughed at Inuyasha's 'Wait a minute, dammit.' They were back in the sky.

Sesshomaru watched them fly off and burst out laughing. Shippo jumped behind Inuyasha at the sound. The demon lord had surely lost his mind. "Come let's return to camp and wait for them." He walked away leaving, ignoring the strange looks he was getting. It couldn't have been helped. The sight of Kagome's smiling face had been too much. Him and Inuyasha had been concerned about both girls yet they'd flown into the sky laughing.


Kagome felt her hair blowing in the breeze, she was enjoying the feeling of soaring through the air. Riding on back of the hanyou's back didn't begin to compare to the speed and thrill of this. The trees were flying by below her. "This is amazing."

Leiko felt herself smiling, she hadn't taken the time to test out her wings. She'd discovered them by bathing one day, She'd felt the energy coming from her back. The rain was starting to let up as they continued. "Maybe we should head back, the others must be worried."

"Oh, okay. I'm sure you're tired also." They found the others awaiting them at the camp. The rain was just about spent. Kagome felt her feet hit the ground once more. Shippo jumped straight into her arms.

"Kagome!" The kit hugged her. "We were worried about you."

"I'm fine Shippo. No need to worry." She hugged him then looked over at her friends. They all looked stunned, she must look a mess. Didn't occur to her that they may have thought her to be dead for a minute. "That was fun, thanks Leiko."

"My Pleasure." She smiled until she felt two hands grab her shoulders.

"Why did you keep this a secret?" Sesshomaru grabbed one of the wings, touching it lightly. "When did you get these?"

"I don't know, me and Kagome was falling so I pulled them out my ass. Neat huh?" She used the same tone she'd heard Kagome use on several occasions.

"Very amusing. You will not scare this Sesshomaru like that again, understood." He felt the wings retreat, his hand was left feeling air. "Now, why was Naraku here?"

"He stopped by for directions." Kagome stated.

"Men never ask for directions," this came from Shippo.

"She was kidding Shippo." Miroku didn't find the situation funny either. The evil hanyou had shown himself for a reason. "Why would he show up knowing that both Inuyasha and Sesshomaru were near? It wasn't wise on his part."

"Hmmm, who knows? Not like it matters." Leiko said. She wondered if Kagome would speak up but the girl remained silent. The thought of everyone knowing that Naraku wanted to bed her was a little embarrassing.

"She's right. We'd never get anywhere if we tried to figure out what he was thinking or planning. He is probably mad that Leiko didn't kill Inuyasha." Kagome could understand the girl's blush. The idea of Naraku wanting to screw anyone was horrid. "Its getting late, lets find someplace dry and get some rest."

Sesshomaru let it pass, he wasn't fooled. Naraku had come for a reason, he'd find out why.
