Between Best Friends

Chapter Fourteen

Kagome woke up to find herself tied to a table in a dark room. Her head was throbbing along the right side. Her eyes tried to scan the area for Keiko. The room was very small, it had no windows or other furniture inside. She heard the door open and tried to pick her head up.

Byakuya walked inside carrying a candle. It was time for him to get what he wanted. The jewel, then he would break the girl's soul.
He smiled knowing he was about to have some fun with the girl. One thing he got from Naraku was that he loved to cause others misery. He made sure the rope binding the girls arms and legs were secure. He would not risk being purified by her. Setting the candle beside her caused her to start trembling. "Are you scared girl?"

"Fuck you," Kagome spat at him.

"No thank you. I do not like left overs that someone threw out." He heard her intake of breath and decided to play. "Isn't that what you are Kagome? You know they won't come for you, don't you. Oh Inuyasha might come for the jewel. But no one cares that I have you. Those two that you love so much disgarded you. I sense that their marks are gone. Foolish girl, didn't you even wonder why they never made you completely theirs?"

"What do you mean?" Her eyes began to fill with tears.

"When a demon marks the one he wants he merely bites her on the neck. The mark is not perminent though. It can be removed at anytime. The only way to make it last forever is to share your blood. We do this to mark what is ours at the time. They did not share their blood with you. They never planned on keeping you that long Kagome. You were nothing but a toy, look how easy it was for them to let you go."

"You're lying." Kagome cried. Tears were streaming down her cheeks.

"Am I? Tell me Kagome. Did either one of them ever once tell you that they loved you?" At her hurt expression he continued. "Of course they didn't because neither one did. They chose you because they sensed what was underneath. A whore that would give herself to them quickly without question. They used you and then discarded you like the trash you are."

Her shoulders shook as the truth of his words fell on her heavy heart. Niether one had mentioned the word love. They had never even admitted to caring for her. All they had said was that they wanted her. She loved them and she meant nothing to them.

He watched her cry enjoying watching her suffer. "Since they got what they wanted from you. I figure its about time I got what I want from you." He slid his hand down her stomach pushing her shirt up. He placed his palm over her side searching for the power that would soon be his. His fingers twitched over her left side, there it was.

Kagome felt his hand going over her looking for the jewel. She screamed in pain when his claws started digging into her flesh. He was tearing a hole in her side while he searched. She felt him remove his fingers pulling the jewel out of her. It was pink as it left her side. She watched as he palmed it turning the color to black within a matter of seconds. She closed her eyes letting the darkness take her.


Sesshomaru was leading Inuyasha, Hiei, Kurama, Kouga, Yusuke and Kikyo to Byakuya's lair. After finding the two girls missing they found Inuyasha still held under the spell of the incantation. Koenma ordered a portal to be opened for them as close as they could get.

Kurama knew Hiei had to be feeling the same as him. They had assumed the worst of her, without believing in her. She had tried to explain but he had cut her off. He had felt betrayed believing that she still wanted the half breed. So he had lashed out saying something he hadn't meant. But once said he couldn't take it back. Now, she was gone and he might never get a chance to tell her that he loved her.

Hiei felt his jagan fly open on its own. He stumbled and landed on his back holding his third eye as the scream split through his head causing his head to ache immensely. The others stopped when he went down. The scream didn't stop for a few minutes but continued to echo through his head. Then it suddenly stopped as quick as it began.

Kurama ran to him. "What is it Hiei?"

"Kagome, I heard her screaming." Kurama felt his heart drop at his words. The little fire demon was back on his feet. "We need to hurry." They continued praying that they would make it in time.


Keiko looked up when the door to the room opened. A demon with scales and webbed fingers came in carrying Kagome. He quickly deposited her on the floor. She landed on the floor in a sickening thud. Keiko ran over to her to see how bad she was hurt. She had a few bruises and a hole that was bleeding pretty bad on her side.

"I have to stop the bleeding." Keiko reached down and tore the bottom of her dress. Enough to wrap around Kagome's middle. She tore another piece, balling it up and sighed as it was pressed into the small hole. Hoping that would help stop the bleeding by adding pressure she wrapped her up. 'We got to get out of here.' No one had bothered her once she had woken up in the small room. There was a demon standing at the door, he looked to be part snake. From his pointy face down to his forked tongue. He had come in once to throw her a metal bowl she assumed was to be her chamber pot.

Kagome woke up to see Keiko sitting beside her, "Keiko?"

"Yes, are you okay? I tried to stop the bleeding in your side." She helped her sit up. "We have to find a way out. I'm sure the others will be coming for us."

Kagome said nothing but knew Keiko was right. They had to come, they had to stop Byakuya from using the jewel. Plus, Yusuke would surely come for Keiko. 'I won't let that sick bastard use the jewel to hurt anyone.' She looked at the door. "How many guards?"

"Only the one."

She knew Byakuya was no longer afraid of her since he had the jewel and believed her to soul to be crushed. He would soon learn that it didn't matter if they loved her. She wouldn't sit back and let them be hurt. "Do you think you can get him to come in the room?"

"Yeah I think so." Keiko recalled the way the nasty demon had been eyeing her earlier. "What do you plan on doing?"

"I'm going to pretend to be still out. Grab that bowl, hide it behind your back. When you get him in here knock him with it." Kagome layed back down and closed her eyes.

Keiko grabbed the bowl and placed it behind her back. She knocked on the door trying to get his attention. He slid the door open but only an inch. "Whasss do youssssss wanssss?" She slid her hand lightly in her shirt trying her best to tease the demon. She had no experience in seducing a man but she had to try. "I'm getting lonely in here. She's still passed out so I was wondering maybe you could come in and keep me company." She slid her hand down her abdomen, "I'm sure we can find something to do."

"Soessss the human wansss to playssssssss." He opened the door leaving it open to follow her in as she stepped back.

Keiko let him enter the room pouting her lips. She knew she had his attention when he started grabbing himself. He went to untie his pants taking his eyes off her for only a second. The bowl made a loud cracking sound as it fell across his head. He landed at her feet blood, squirting on her shoes. "Hentai."

Kagome heard the demon go down and wanted to give her a high five. "Nicely done. Where'd you learn to talk like that? For a minute I though you were actually serious."

"That is so gross. Guess you don't know what you are capable of until you life is at stake." Keiko dropped the bowl and ran to help Kagome stand. She was ready to get the hell out of dodge.

They made their way down the hallway not coming across any more guards. Kagome paused as she passed a room littered with bones. She could see swords and spears lying all around, maybe she could find a bow. "Wait lets get a weapon at least before we head out."

Sesshomaru and Co. stopped when they saw the small castle came into view. Kikyo stepped forward, "The barrier is gone. Something must have happened." She reached out to make sure and where it had once stood was empty.

"You couldn't be more right Kikyo." Byakuya emerged from the castle floating in the air. He floated over to the group as they prepared for battle. He wanted to laugh at the sorry bunch of demons standing in front of him. "Fools, you have come to your deaths. You can not stop me." He held out his hand showing them the now tainted shikon.

Kurama had never seen the jewel but knew what he was looking at. He held it in a hand that was covered in blood. His nose picked up the scent as well did the others.

"You fucking bastard, what have you done to Kagome?" Inuyasha tried to strike him as he unsheathed Tetsusiaga. Inuyasha was sent back to land into nearby trees.

"What do you think I did? I tore the jewel from that pathetic human's body and left her to die." His laugh rang out as he taunted them with the girl's death.
