Chapter Fifteen: Terror
Life, death,
Screaming, deceiving.
Crying and fleeing.
Breaking through to you.
Sesshoumaru was surrounded by ningen. He could smell them. Disgusting creatures. Their stench assailed his senses. He cracked his eyes open, amber eyes quickly taking in the surrounding room. He nearly growled when he realised he was in a human domicile. His BROTHER'S human domicile. He scented the area, finding where the ningen were. There was a man of great spiritual power just outside the door. 'The accursed monk.' He thought, remembering the monk as the one with the kazaana. There was an older person, one smelling of herbs and some miko's power which he did not recognize near the monk. He caught scent of the demon exterminator some distance from the two, and heard her slow, steady breath. Sleeping. Farther away he sensed his brother and his human whore. The half-breed smelled of death, and the acidic scent of his poison. Sesshoumaru smirked. 'He will be dead before the day is through.'

Kagome screamed. She clutched Inuyasha to her breast, praying for him to wake up, to tell her that he was ok. Rocking back and forth, Kagome started to cry, silver tears pouring down her cheeks. "Inuyasha, Inuyasha, oh please wake up. Please don't die. Onegai!" Her cries drew the attention of the group sitting not too far away.
Sango and Miroku ran over the the tree, weapons at the ready, fearing the worst. Sango recoiled, wrinkling her nose at the smell of poison in the air. Miroku halted, looking up into the tree at the couple.
"Kagome-sama? Inuyasha? What is the matter?" He questioned.
Kagome hiccuped before choking out a few words.
"Sesshoumaru's... poisoned him!" She clutched the hanyou closer to her, heartwrenching sobs rocking her small frame
Sango drew in a breath sharply, realizing how much danger Inuyasha was in. She yelled for Kirara.
Miroku instantly began consoling the distraught young woman, his voice soft and comforting. "Kagome-sama, it will be alright, Inuyasha is strong. He will live." Kirara landed beside him as he finished speaking.
"Kirara! We need to get them down from the tree, quickly!" Sango told the fire-cat, leaping onto her back.
They managed to get the hanyou and the miko out of the tree without too much fuss, besides Inuyasha's incoherent whines of pain.
Kirara flew them back to Kaede's hut, while Miroku went to search for the old miko. By this time Inuyasha's skin had turned a pallid grey color, and the wound on his cheek was bleeding out green froth. He was constantly whining, a high pitched noise emanating from his chest.
As Sango and a distraught Kagome struggled to get Inuyasha into the hut, their path was blocked by a tall figure.
"Sesshoumaru..." Sango hissed out, almost dropping Inuyasha as she reached for her katana.
Kagome nearly staggered under the extra weight, but she kept her eyes trained on Sesshoumaru, watching him warily.
Sesshoumaru looked down at them, his face emotionless as ever. His gaze found his injured brother, and he almost smirked.
"Ahh, how the weak succumb to my poison. Worthless hanyou." He sniffed disdainfully before looking back at the miko. He took on a look of rage for a short instant, but it was quickly hidden. "And the bitch who follows him." He barely even glanced at Sango as she prepared to attack.
Kagome felt anger begin to well up in her breast and she glared up at Sesshoumaru. "He is NOT worthless! And for the last time, I am NOT a bitch!" She felt her miko power flare slightly. "If anything, you're worthless! So cold and emotionless. How can you live like that?! Hating even your own brother!" She yelled up at him. "And after I dragged your heavy ass back here and fixed you up, even after you tried to KILL me, you dare to insult me?! You are seriously lacking in manners, my great lord Sesshoumaru!" She finished her rant breathlessly, her power climbing steadily. She gently laid Inuyasha down on the ground, then stood again. She faced Sesshoumaru, her entire body glowing a soft blue.
Sesshoumaru glared down at her, quirking a brow at her display of power. "You dare insult this Sesshoumaru? I could kill you with one swipe of my claws. You are, after all, still a weak human. And this demon hunter is not even worth a second glance." His hand rested on the hilt of Tokijin. In a flash Sango's katana went clattering to the floor, she barely had the time to react before losing her arm.
Sango lept backwards, reaching to her back for Hiraikotsu. She nearly cursed when she didn't feel it in her hand. She spotted it, lying against the wall, right behind Sesshoumaru.
Kagome barely even flinched as Sesshoumaru attacked Sango. Keeping her eyes on him she continued to increase the output of her power. Blue light began swirling around her as she stood over Inuyasha, guarding over him.
"You will NOT hurt my friends, you evil son of a bitch!" Blue flames ignited in her eyes, and her hair went wild in the swirling winds, making her appear almost demonic.
Sesshoumaru turned back to her, drawing Tokijin.
"You think to stop me? You may try." With that, he settled into kumite dachi, fighting stance, and waited for her attack. "How do you expect to fight me? You have no bows and arrows to aid you, nor a sword."
Kagome smirked at him, creating a protective bubble around herself and Inuyasha and her power increased even more. She began to focus it, words bubbling up in her mind. She suddenly knew just what to do.
Drawing all her power into her, she began focusing it towards Sesshoumaru. She muttered incoherent words, and briefly closed her eyes.
As she opened them, she smiled at Sesshoumaru. "And my will be done." She bowed, smirking, and knelt down to lift Inuyasha. "I do not fear you, Lord Sesshoumaru, nor do I respect you. Sango, come, help me with Inuyasha." There was nothing left of the blue glow, just a normal girl.
Sango started, then warily went to help drag the hanyou into the hut.
Sesshoumaru stood there, as he had before, sword drawn. He blinked blearily, as if he had been in a trance. Relaxing his stance, he resheathed Tokijin. He felt very weak, as if he had been sucked of all his energy. He shook his head, barely comprehending why he had simply let them walk by. He grew angry, and followed them into the hut.
"You dare walk out of a fight with this Sesshoumaru! I shall kill you for your insolence!" He drew Tokijin again, but oddly felt no power radiating from it. "What is this miko's trick you play on me? Take the magic out of my sword. You shall pay."
Kagome turned to him, after settling Inuyasha on the cot.
"I did not just take the magic out of your sword. I took all the demonic energy out of you. Including your demon strength. I also made sure to take the all the ability to injure anyone in this village out of you. We are safe from you. Now, if you be a good dog, and behave, you may get your powers back." With that, she turned back to Inuyasha.
Sesshoumaru glared at her back, and, resheathing Tokijin yet again, tried to use his poison claws. He felt no rush of hot liquid to his hand, nor did he smell the acid. He lifted his hand up to his face. The claws remained, as did the demon stripes, but there was no acid to be seen.
"How dare you attempt to unman this Sesshoumaru?! I will kill you where you stand!"
"Idle threats, Lord Sesshoumaru. You may not injure any in this village. Now, go outside for a moment, and let us help Inuyasha."
Sesshoumaru glared at her, willing himself to step forward and attack, but found himself immobilized.
"You have better release me from this spell, miko-bitch, or there will be hell to pay."
Kagome looked over at a dumbfounded Sango.
"Can you guide him outside? I need quiet to heal Inuyasha."
Sango nodded, grabbing the weakened Sesshoumaru and roughly dragging him outside.
She stepped back, looking him over, searching for any change. None. The same Sesshoumaru stood before her, silver hair, pointed ears. And the cold expression on the face.
She shook her head, disbelievingly. 'I never thought Kagome could have enough power to turn Sesshoumaru almost human...'
She turned back into the hut, leaving Sesshoumaru to seethe in a cold rage.
She found Kagome in tears over Inuyasha.
"Kagome-chan? What is the matter? Can you not heal him?" Sango knelt beside the girl.
Kagome shook her head tearfully.
"I do not know how. All I can do for him is use the first aid kit, and that doesn't contain anything for poisons. I hope Kaede can do something. If not... Inuyasha may die!"

Inuyasha rested fitfully, dreams racing round and round in his head. He was with Kagome, then all went dark. He was surrounded by a dark miasma which he struggled not to breath in.
"Kagome! Kagome! Where are you?!" He yelled, panicking.
The miasma closed in on him, drowning him. It pulled him down, deeper into its depths. Weights settled on his limbs and he gasped for breath. He felt himself weakening.
Suddenly there was a brilliant flash of blue light, swirling upwards around him. His silver hair lifted, fluttering around his head. His hakama billowed out. An odd music began playing in his head, as he panted and felt the weight lift. A figure came to him, through the light.
"Kagome..." He breathed, relieved.
The music droned on.
"Kagome?! Answer me!" His heart raced, and his golden eyes flashed angrily, nervously.
He distinctly heard the plucking of harp strings, a sad, slow, mysterious song from his memories of long ago.
Suddenly an claw sliced through him, and he screamed in pain. His limbs fastened down, and he was unable to move. His eyes went black, and he wimpered.

Miroku struggled to hold Inuyasha down, as he fought against an unseen foe.
"Lady Kagome, I don't know how long I will be able to hold him. Although he is weakened by the poison, he is still strong." Inuyasha thrashed under him, his arms and legs flailing wildly. His eyes were wide open, but blurred and unseeing. The gashes in his cheek oozed slowly.
Kagome nodded slowly, cleaning Inuyasha's wounds slowly and efficiently.
"Just a couple more seconds, Miroku. Thank you." She placed the wrap on it, and pressed her hand to Inuyasha's forhead. He quieted at her touch, whimpering a bit.
Short short short.... But I just got my internet back from having my connection deleted by the new Windows Xp update. Don't do it!
Hopefully I'll be able to update again soon. Ja ne!
