~*~Chapter 15—Slow Dance~*~
The next day dawned early and bright. The newly “mated” couple was still asleep, cuddled together. They never heard the creaking of the door as it opened, or the pair of Peeping Toms looking in on them. The third one is behind the two, jumping up and down when standing on tiptoes didn’t work.
“Mama, what’s going on? I want to see!” The little boy begged his mother loudly.
“Ssh!” The two adults hushed him, afraid of waking the sleeping couple.
“Don’t they look so cute together, Jii-chan?” Mrs. Higurashi whispered to Grandpa, acting like a schoolgirl.
“Hmp! Of course they don’t! One’s a miko and the other’s half-demon, for the love of God. This is an atrocity! It should not be allowed!” The old man has his nose up in the air, and the latter’s said in a very high voice.
“Oh, stop Jii-chan! You’re going to wake them up. Besides, I know that you like Inuyasha too. He just has to umm… appeal to your romantic side,” Mrs. Higurashi said as she covered her mouth with her hand to muffle her giggle.
They went out of the room, closing the door quietly behind them. Inuyasha must’ve been VERY exhausted for him not to hear them! :D
“We’re going to tell them this morning about our plan, Jii-chan. They’ll be pleasantly surprised to have the house to their selves for three days!” Mrs. Higurashi said excitedly.
“Three days!? But—But—“ Jii-chan was sputtering, but before he could voice his protests, Mrs. Higurashi interrupted him.
“I know you’ll agree, Grandpa! You are so kind, as always. Arigato, ne? And as for three days, well my poor baby got married without having a decent honeymoon. So I think they deserve one, don’t you?”
“Honeymoon? What is that?” Souta said curiously.
The two stopped talking to look at the child. They completely forgot about him!
“Nothing, honey. We’re going somewhere special with Jii-chan so I suggest you pack your bags now okay?”
“Just us? We’re leaving Onechan and Inu no onichan?” Souta asked forlornly.
“Yes, that’s right. But don’t worry; it will be lots of fun! Right, Jii-chan?” Mrs. Higurashi elbowed Jii-chan.
“Lots of fun!? We’re leaving my granddaughter here with that…that demon! They’re having a honeymoon just to spawn more demon-blooded humans! And that’s fun!? Oww!” Jii-chan cut off his tirade as he felt someone kick him on the s

“JII-CHAN!!!” Mrs. Higurashi screamed.
The hanyou inside the room opened his eyes, his hands clutching Tetsusaiga as he leapt from the bed and opened the door.
“What’s that? Is it a youkai? Where?” Inuyasha looked everywhere as he baed ted them with questions. A moment later, Kagome joined them.
“What’s happening, Mama? Why are you outside my room? And why are you holding Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha?” Kagome asked, yawning.
“I heard a scream. I thought a youkai’s attacking us. I forgot we’re in your time,” Inuyasha said sheepishly.
Mrs. Higurashi is now blushing, as she attempted to laugh it off.
“That was me, dear. I’m sorry if I worried you; Jii-chan startled me. And I’m here to say that breakfast’s ready! So see you in the kitchen, okay?” Mrs. Higurashhi started to go down the stairs.
‘That was close,’ Mrs. Higurashi thought in relief.
‘Wow! Mama is so cool! Great acting,’ Souta thought as he hurried down with his Mom.
‘Now what kind of torture can I cook up for Inuyasha?’ Jii-chan pondered as he followed.
Inuyasha and Kagome looked at each other, before Inuyasha grinned evilly and picked up Kagome back to her room and shutting the door.
Now I know what you’re thinking… ‘What are they doing inside?’ Am I right!? :D

The couple showed up much, much later after doing uh, whatever it is they did. (You dirty mind, you. hehehrs. rs. Higurashi placed their breakfast in front of them and they all ate together. At the middle of the meal, Mrs. Higurashi announced her plans.
“Dear, Jii-chan, Souta and I are going away for a few days. We’ll leave the day after tomorrow. Is that okay with you?”
Kagome knew exactly what her Mom is planning. She jumped up her chair and went to her Mama’s side to give her a hug.
“Oh Mama! You’re the greatest!” Kagome squealed as she kissed her Mom’s cheek.
The hanyou’s looking puzzled as to why his mate is near to tears and Jii-chan’s glaring at him again.
“What did I do now!?”
“Nothing as of yet! Now come with me. You need to show your sincerity through serving this family. Today, we will clean and repair the shrine. Don’t dally!” Jii-chan said as he dragged Inuyasha through the front door, not giving the hanyou time to argue or finish his breakfast…

They spent their morning and afternoon apart. Inuyasha’s kept busy by Jii-chan, making him jump to the roof to repair the patches and running around the shrine, cleaning it. Kagome is in the house, helping her Mom with chores and preparing their lunch.
“ITAIIIIII!!!” Kagome screamed loudly as she cut her finger with the knife. She was cutting up the vegetables when the blade accidentally slipped.
“You’re cut, dear? Here, let me see it,” Mrs. Higurashi reached over for her daughter’s hands. But before she could touch it, the front door crashed open, revealing a half-naked hanyou with Tetsusaiga in hand and chest heaving.
“What happened, bitch? I can smell your blood all over the place! Where’s the culprit!? I’ll cut the bastard ten times more than he did you. Can’t you be more careful, for the love of God!?” Inuyasha railed at Kagome, not noticing he’s stealing Jii-chan’s favorite line. Mrs. Higurashi froze in shock at her son-in-law’s language. She noticed her daughter wearing a disgruntled look as her husband went over to her to examine the damage.
“I did not do anything wrong! It was an accident, Inuyasha. And I cut myself,”
“Cut yourself!? Why in seven hells would you do that? By the way, I don’t fucking believe you. Who cut you?” Inuyasha yelled at his bitch, panic in his eyes as he saw his mate’s blood.
Kagome sighed as she put out her hand to Inuyasha. She remembered a time when…
~Flashback~
They were traveling that day, not in Kaede’s village. She rode on Inuyasha’s back while the others followed riding Kirara. She left her bike at the hut; her mate said she didn’t need it anymore since she’ll be riding him. And now here they were, searching for shards when suddenly…
“Inuyasha-kun! I feel a d cod coming towards us. But it’s very faint…”
“Keh! The shard must be smaller now. But it’s still part of the Shikon no Tama! Where do you feel it coming from, bitch? Bring it on!” Inuyasha stopped on a clearing to put her down, the others behind them.
Before Kagome could point out it’s location, a huge youkai appeared from the north side, startling them.
“Shikon no Tama! Give me the Shikon no Tama!” It roared as it saw the half of the shards in Kagome’s neck.
“You’re not getting close to her, bonehead! And an ugly one at that,” Inuyasha smirked as he shielded Kagome from the youkai’s eyes and reverted its attention to him.
“Who are you calling ugly, mutt-face!?” The youkai volleyed back, while making its move to attack Inuyasha. The hanyou leapt out of the way as the youkai came charging at them, leaving Kagome somewhere safe as the others distracted the monster.
“Hiraikotsu!” Sango yelled as she threw her boomerang, the whistling sound of it alerting the youkai. Miroku got some of his warding and tossed it at the monster’s face.
“Aahhh!” The demon screamed as he dodged the boomerang but the holy paper hit hi

“Now I want you and Shippo to stay here, got it? No interfering!” Inuyasha ordered Kagome as he leapt back to battle.
The youkai apparently has some friends, for at least a dozen demons surround them now. The battle was turning out to be invigorating to our warriors, when the curious miko got up from her hiding place and took a peek.
“Oh my God! There’s so many of the demons,” Kagome exclaimed.
“Gewn, wn, Kagome! Inuyasha would get mad if he saw you!” Shippo was tugging on her skirt.
“But I have to help them, Shippo-chan! They’re surrounded! What if they lose?” Kagome said as she notched up an arrow to her bow and fired. She hit a demon in the head, purifying it. Everyone turned to look at the miko, the youkais recognizing the Shikon shards.
“Shikon no Tama! Give us the Shikon no Tama!” The monsters chanted as they raced towards her, competing against each other as to who will kill her first.
“KAGOMEEEEE!!!” Her mate roared before letting out a bloodcurdling battle cry, running with amazing speed towards his mate, swiping at every demon the Tetsusaiga can reach.
All of them fell—except for one.
“YOU STUSON SON OF A BITCH! You almost got my bitch killed! I’ll send you to Hell!” Inuyasha snarled at the youkai, the one who appeared first.
“Where’s the shard, Kagome?”
“It’s—It’s in the heart,” Kagome said weakly.
“I told you you weren’t going to get near her! Now die, asshole!” Inuyasha said as he plunged the katana to the youkai’s heart, almrippripping it out then slicing the demon into three.
He caught the small shard in his hand while walking furiously towards Kagome.
“I told you not to interfere! I told you to hide! But did you listen? No! You just had to purify one of those ugly sons of a youkai and let them see you! Of all the hardheaded, stubborn, spoiled—“ The hanyou continued to lecture his woman. When he reached her, she just held her hand out to him and touched his cheek. Then whispered,
“I love you,” and he calmed down immediately.
After that frightening experience, he was determined to keep her by his side. Even when fighting, she’d be at his back, still riding him. Or behind him, within his sight and reach…
~End Flashback~
‘Maybe that’s why we haven’t had to battle so many demons now. Maybe the rumor spread about the painful death Inuyasha gives when I’m threatened,’ The miko thought with a smile and shivered as she felt her mate lick at the blood on her fingers.
“I asked you a damned question, bitch,” Inuyasha growled at her, in between licking her hands free of the blood.
“I REALLY dut mut myself! I was chopping at the veggies here and the blade slipped. So there,” Kagome said with a sigh as she motions to the knife. Her mate grabs at it and eyes it as though it was alive.
“Give me this,”
“No! That’s Mama’s knife. Don’t you dare break it!” Kagome said warningly.
“I said give me the fucking knife,” Her hanyou snarled back, reaching for it as she puts it out of his reach.
“I’ll break it in two and crumble it to tiny pieces! I’ll—“ Inuyasha never finished his tirade as Kagome shouted:
“Osuwari!!!”
Mrs. Higurashi snaps out of her stupor and walks over to Kagome—stepping on her son-in-law in the process. He’s still on his belly on the kitchen floor…
“I knew you could handle him, Kagome! That’s my baby. Thanks so much for not letting him break it. I just sharpened it you see. Now let me take a look at that hand. Wow, it’s healing fast! And—“ Mrs. Higurashi rambled on as they left the kitchen to put a band aid on the wound, leaving her poor son-in-law swearing as he lies on his face on the linoleum…

After lunch, brother and sister went to the mall with Jii-chan top fop for some clothes for Inuyasha and other things, leaving the hanyou with his “dear” mother-in-law.
Mrs. Higurashi is sitting on the couch, cross-stitching as she puts on a movie for them to watch. Inuyasha sits cross-legged in front of the TV, sipping soda. He stares transfixed at the screen, seeing a woman in white and a man dressed formally in each other’s arms, seeming to sway together with the music.
“Mama,” Inuyasha said uncomfortably to Mrs. Higurashi. She looks up and smiles at him.
“Yes, dear?”
“What is that they’re doing?” Inuyasha points to the screen.
“Oh that. They’re slow dancing,” Mrs. Higurashi answered.
“Why?”
“Because it’s their wedding day. That movie is one of Kagome’s favorites, you know. ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’. And she always cries every time she sees it,”
“Oh. But what about their wedding? Do they really have to do that?”
“Oh yes. You see, in our tradition, when a couple gets married, they get to dance after it,”
“Are wedd in in your tradition beautiful?”
“Yes, very much so. The bride, like the woman in the movie, wears a long white gown and holds a bouquet of flowers in her hands. She’s going to throw it to her girl friends after the wedding. And the groom wears tux or something else formal, like the man in the movie. They eat and drink wine, cut the cake and dance and laugh all day,” Mrs. Higurashi explained to her son-in-law.
“Uh, does Kagome want to have a wedding? In your tradition, I mean,”
“Of course, dear! It’s every girl’s dream, you know. I remember Kagome telling me about her dream wedding. It sounds so lovely,” Mama said with tears in her eyes.
Inuyasha pictured the two of them having a wedding, and it IS lovely.
“Mama, I promise this to you. After we finish whatever it is we have to do, we’ll go back and I’ll give Kagome her dream wedding,” Inuyasha vowed fervently.
Mama looked at him with surprise in her eyes.
“You really love my Kagome don’t you?” She said in wonde she she smiled and took my hand to help me stand.
“Well, if you’re going to dance at your wedding, you better learn how. So we’ll start with now,”
“Start with what?” Inuyasha asked, confused.
“Why, teaching you to dance! Now hold me like this and put your hands on my waist like this—“ the lesson continued well into the late sunset, with Inuyasha learning a little…finally!

“What happened, bitch? I can smell your blood all over the place! Where’s the culprit!? I’ll cut the bastard ten times more than he did you. Can’t you be more careful, for the love of God!?” Inuyasha railed at Kagome, not noticing he’s stealing Jii-chan’s favorite line. Mrs. Higurashi froze in shock at her son-in-law’s language. She noticed her daughter wearing a disgruntled look as her husband went over to her to examine the damage.
“I did not do anything wrong! It was an accident, Inuyasha. And I cut myself,”
“Cut yourself!? Why in seven hells would you do that? By the way, I don’t fucking believe you. Who cut you?” Inuyasha yelled at his bitch, panic in his eyes as he saw his mate’s blood.
Kagome sighed as she put out her hand to Inuyasha. She remembered a time when…
~Flashback~
They were traveling that day, not in Kaede’s village. She rode on Inuyasha’s back while the others followed riding Kirara. She left her bike at the hut; her mate said she didn’t need it anymore since she’ll be riding him. And now here they were, searching for shards when suddenly…
“Inuyasha-kun! I feel a d cod coming towards us. But it’s very faint…”
“Keh! The shard must be smaller now. But it’s still part of the Shikon no Tama! Where do you feel it coming from, bitch? Bring it on!” Inuyasha stopped on a clearing to put her down, the others behind them.
Before Kagome could point out it’s location, a huge youkai appeared from the north side, startling them.
“Shikon no Tama! Give me the Shikon no Tama!” It roared as it saw the half of the shards in Kagome’s neck.
“You’re not getting close to her, bonehead! And an ugly one at that,” Inuyasha smirked as he shielded Kagome from the youkai’s eyes and reverted its attention to him.
“Who are you calling ugly, mutt-face!?” The youkai volleyed back, while making its move to attack Inuyasha. The hanyou leapt out of the way as the youkai came charging at them, leaving Kagome somewhere safe as the others distracted the monster.
“Hiraikotsu!” Sango yelled as she threw her boomerang, the whistling sound of it alerting the youkai. Miroku got some of his warding and tossed it at the monster’s face.
“Aahhh!” The demon screamed as he dodged the boomerang but the holy paper hit hi

“Now I want you and Shippo to stay here, got it? No interfering!” Inuyasha ordered Kagome as he leapt back to battle.
The youkai apparently has some friends, for at least a dozen demons surround them now. The battle was turning out to be invigorating to our warriors, when the curious miko got up from her hiding place and took a peek.
“Oh my God! There’s so many of the demons,” Kagome exclaimed.
“Gewn, wn, Kagome! Inuyasha would get mad if he saw you!” Shippo was tugging on her skirt.
“But I have to help them, Shippo-chan! They’re surrounded! What if they lose?” Kagome said as she notched up an arrow to her bow and fired. She hit a demon in the head, purifying it. Everyone turned to look at the miko, the youkais recognizing the Shikon shards.
“Shikon no Tama! Give us the Shikon no Tama!” The monsters chanted as they raced towards her, competing against each other as to who will kill her first.
“KAGOMEEEEE!!!” Her mate roared before letting out a bloodcurdling battle cry, running with amazing speed towards his mate, swiping at every demon the Tetsusaiga can reach.
All of them fell—except for one.
“YOU STUSON SON OF A BITCH! You almost got my bitch killed! I’ll send you to Hell!” Inuyasha snarled at the youkai, the one who appeared first.
“Where’s the shard, Kagome?”
“It’s—It’s in the heart,” Kagome said weakly.
“I told you you weren’t going to get near her! Now die, asshole!” Inuyasha said as he plunged the katana to the youkai’s heart, almrippripping it out then slicing the demon into three.
He caught the small shard in his hand while walking furiously towards Kagome.
“I told you not to interfere! I told you to hide! But did you listen? No! You just had to purify one of those ugly sons of a youkai and let them see you! Of all the hardheaded, stubborn, spoiled—“ The hanyou continued to lecture his woman. When he reached her, she just held her hand out to him and touched his cheek. Then whispered,
“I love you,” and he calmed down immediately.
After that frightening experience, he was determined to keep her by his side. Even when fighting, she’d be at his back, still riding him. Or behind him, within his sight and reach…
~End Flashback~
‘Maybe that’s why we haven’t had to battle so many demons now. Maybe the rumor spread about the painful death Inuyasha gives when I’m threatened,’ The miko thought with a smile and shivered as she felt her mate lick at the blood on her fingers.
“I asked you a damned question, bitch,” Inuyasha growled at her, in between licking her hands free of the blood.
“I REALLY dut mut myself! I was chopping at the veggies here and the blade slipped. So there,” Kagome said with a sigh as she motions to the knife. Her mate grabs at it and eyes it as though it was alive.
“Give me this,”
“No! That’s Mama’s knife. Don’t you dare break it!” Kagome said warningly.
“I said give me the fucking knife,” Her hanyou snarled back, reaching for it as she puts it out of his reach.
“I’ll break it in two and crumble it to tiny pieces! I’ll—“ Inuyasha never finished his tirade as Kagome shouted:
“Osuwari!!!”
Mrs. Higurashi snaps out of her stupor and walks over to Kagome—stepping on her son-in-law in the process. He’s still on his belly on the kitchen floor…
“I knew you could handle him, Kagome! That’s my baby. Thanks so much for not letting him break it. I just sharpened it you see. Now let me take a look at that hand. Wow, it’s healing fast! And—“ Mrs. Higurashi rambled on as they left the kitchen to put a band aid on the wound, leaving her poor son-in-law swearing as he lies on his face on the linoleum…

After lunch, brother and sister went to the mall with Jii-chan top fop for some clothes for Inuyasha and other things, leaving the hanyou with his “dear” mother-in-law.
Mrs. Higurashi is sitting on the couch, cross-stitching as she puts on a movie for them to watch. Inuyasha sits cross-legged in front of the TV, sipping soda. He stares transfixed at the screen, seeing a woman in white and a man dressed formally in each other’s arms, seeming to sway together with the music.
“Mama,” Inuyasha said uncomfortably to Mrs. Higurashi. She looks up and smiles at him.
“Yes, dear?”
“What is that they’re doing?” Inuyasha points to the screen.
“Oh that. They’re slow dancing,” Mrs. Higurashi answered.
“Why?”
“Because it’s their wedding day. That movie is one of Kagome’s favorites, you know. ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’. And she always cries every time she sees it,”
“Oh. But what about their wedding? Do they really have to do that?”
“Oh yes. You see, in our tradition, when a couple gets married, they get to dance after it,”
“Are wedd in in your tradition beautiful?”
“Yes, very much so. The bride, like the woman in the movie, wears a long white gown and holds a bouquet of flowers in her hands. She’s going to throw it to her girl friends after the wedding. And the groom wears tux or something else formal, like the man in the movie. They eat and drink wine, cut the cake and dance and laugh all day,” Mrs. Higurashi explained to her son-in-law.
“Uh, does Kagome want to have a wedding? In your tradition, I mean,”
“Of course, dear! It’s every girl’s dream, you know. I remember Kagome telling me about her dream wedding. It sounds so lovely,” Mama said with tears in her eyes.
Inuyasha pictured the two of them having a wedding, and it IS lovely.
“Mama, I promise this to you. After we finish whatever it is we have to do, we’ll go back and I’ll give Kagome her dream wedding,” Inuyasha vowed fervently.
Mama looked at him with surprise in her eyes.
“You really love my Kagome don’t you?” She said in wonde she she smiled and took my hand to help me stand.
“Well, if you’re going to dance at your wedding, you better learn how. So we’ll start with now,”
“Start with what?” Inuyasha asked, confused.
“Why, teaching you to dance! Now hold me like this and put your hands on my waist like this—“ the lesson continued well into the late sunset, with Inuyasha learning a little…finally!
