Just for the night

Sesshoumaru pulled out
his sword and raised it against Kouga. His demon blood boiled with unleashed
fury, it demanded payback from the wolf for taking his mate away from him.

-         
You will pay for what you have
done wolf, this will not go unpunished, Sesshoumaru snarled with a dark voice.

-         
Perhaps I will kill you and take
your pregnant mate as my woman, she is a feisty one. She would put up a good
fight before she would submit to me, snickered Kouga.

Sango could only gap in
horror and confusion. The wolf prince had indeed gone completely insane. A small
rustle behind her got her attention and she saw the scared face’s of Kougas
friends, Ginta and Hakkaku. Perhaps they knew what made the wolf flipp over like
that. She ventured back to them, keeping one eye at her mate. The two males had
begun a staring contest and she frowned. She did not like this.

Taijya-sama, what has happened
here? Ginta asked and looked with anxious eyes at Sesshoumaru and Kouga.

-         
Your beloved prince tried to
kidnap me, trying to get me exchange for Kagome. Unfortunately he met my mate
before he could do such a thing, said Sango.

-         
He did
WHAT??!!

-         
Yes it is true; he took me from
Kaedes village and brought me here. I bit his ear and got him to release me, and
he was about to attack me when Sesshoumaru came.

-         
He was about to attack you?? But
you are… [sniff sniff]… You are pregnant, said Hakkaku with a terrified
voice. Just the thought that a male would attack a pregnant female was
unthinkable in the higher levels of demon society.

-         
Do you know what happened to
Kouga? I mean, he has always been a bit of a pigheaded asshole, but this?? He is
completely insane, said Sango with a hint of sorrow in her voice.

-         
What do you mean taijya-sama?

-         
Well, in order to get
Kagome-chan, he threatens to kill Inuyasha, who is her mate by the way, and he
said he would kill the little kitsune she had adopted as her own.

-         
But kitsune is just a child, why
would he… ??

Both Ginta and Hakkaku
looked at their prince and knew the taijya was telling the truth. Their beloved
leader had indeed lost his mind. The red tinted glow in his eyes, the wild look
and snarling sounds made it clear to them.

-         
You will let us take him back
after this? asked Ginta and Sango nodded.

-         
And could we ask for another
favour?

-         
What is that?

-         
Please do not speak of his
insanity, let our friends remember him as he was before this, please, said
Hakkaku.

-         
We will do as you ask, but for
now – let us leave them alone. I do not want to see this, shivered Sango.

The two wolfs nodded to
that and they left the two fighting demons to solve their dispute, knowing that
Kouga would not live through it. “I hope Kagome will understand that we are
doing this for her and Inuyasha.” Sango thought and felt a small relief
vibrate through the connection she had with Sesshoumaru. He was happy that she
left the battlefield. “Be safe my beloved mate.” She tried to get her
prayer through to him, and a small nod from him confirmed that he had.

Sesshoumaru heard her
mental prayer and his heart swelled with warmth. And he was glad she was
obedient this time, and she took safety behind him. He looked into Kouga’s eyes
and he felt sorry for the young wolf. “Kagome-sama, forgive me for protecting
you this way.” He thought and unleashed the power of the Toujiakin. Kouga
never knew what hit him. The force of the sword ripped Kouga’s soul from his
body, leaving it dead on the ground. He waited for a minute before he sheeted
the powerful sword and pulled out the Tensaiga, the life-giving sword and
slashed it with one perfect strike against the chest area of the wolf.

Wolfs, see to it that this one
never comes with in reach of my brother’s territory or mine in the future, he
said with an eerie voice, hinting that the next time would not be so lucky for
the wolf.

-         
Thank you Sesshoumaru, we will
do everything in our power. And if he ever do this again you have our tribe’s
blessing to deal with it, Hakkaku said.

Ginta and Hakkaku carried
the fallen and then resurrected wolf prince from the clearing, both grateful for
the demon lords display of mercy.

Sesshoumaru nodded and
turned around to be greeted by the relieved face of his mate. She threw herself
into his arms, hugging him tight as she cried into his white haori.

It is ok my beloved mate, it is
over now. You and our pup is safe, he said with a gentle voice, trying to get
Sango to calm down a bit.

-         
I was so afraid, she sobbed.

-         
Shh, it is ok now, do not cry,
it is not good for the baby, he hushed her kissing her lightly.

He lifted her up into his
arms and began to fly towards Jaken, Rin and Ah-Uhn.
