Sadness and Sorrow

A/N: You know the drill people. Oh and BTW, there is a large A/N at the end of the chapter. Please read it.

Chapter Fourteen: Sadness and Sorrow.

Sesshomaru could tell that his women wanted to be alone, but he had the feeling that he should have followed. But the looks that he was getting from both Inuyasha and Kouga, he decided to respect his mate’s wishes and go with the two to hunt for food.

After a couple of moments, all three yokai stopped. There was no sound in the forest. Not even a small bird chirping.

“Something isn’t right…” Kouga growled. “The air is stale.”

“Your stating the obvious Kouga.” Snapped the hanyuu. He turned to see his brother already walking back to camp. “Where do you think your going?!”

Sesshomaru turned to tell Inuyasha that it was none of his business, when a strong scent stuck his nose. It was so overpowering that instantly he covered his nose. The same went for the other two yokai.

“What the hell is that?” Inuyasha cursed.

“It reeks of blood!” Growled Kouga.

Unlike the other two, Sesshomaru instantly began to run to the camp. He needed to get to Kagome and Rin before something else happened. He remembered Okami’s words and how he said that Naraku took Rin. He refused to let that happen. But it was hard to catch anyone’s scent. Not with all the blood around. That was when he heard Rin scream.

All three yokai ran towards the sound, and found Sango passed out, Kikyo searing for her bow, and Rin no where in sight.

“What happened?” Miroku yelled as he ran to the scene.

Kikyo looked up at the group, her face hard and cold as ice. “There was nothing we could do. We tried to save her before he could run off, but he got her anyway.”

Sesshomaru’s eyes narrowed. “What are you talking about wench?”

“A large demon came out of no were and grabbed Rin. Before Sango and I had time to react, he attacked us. He knocked my bow away, and attacked Sango.” The miko explained.

Never before had the Taiyokai felt torn between two decisions. Should he try and find Rin, or go and see if Kagome was alright? That’s when an idea stuck him. He didn’t like it, but it would have to do. “Wolf, go and get Kagome. I’m going after Rin.”

Kouga nodded and took off in the other direction, hopping to find Kagome soon.

**

“Kagome-chan! Kagome-chan!”

Kagome moaned softly as she could hear someone’s voice not too far away from her. It seemed so distant from where she lay. That was till small hands began to shake her.

‘Kagome-chan, wake up.” Rin whined.

Kagome opened her eyes only to realize that she could barley see as it was. The room was dark for the exception of very little moonlight coming from the small window with looked like it had no glass.

“Where are we…?” Kagome whispered. Her whole body hurt from sleeping on the cold stone floor.

“Naraku captured us.” Rin said with a small frown. “But it’ll be okay! Sesshomaru-sama will come and save us! After all, your Rin’s mommy now aren’t you?”

Kagome had to smile at the young girl’s words. “Sure Rin.” She said, ruffling her hair. But Kagome was honestly worried. If Naraku thought of every little detail on capturing both of them, then what would stop him from thinking of a plan that will prevent Sesshomaru and the other’s to save them? No, Kagome couldn’t just rely on Sesshomaru and the others. If she was right, then this was the time that Rin was kidnapped, tortured, then killed. Kagome would prevent it. The Taiyokai wasn’t there at the moment so it was up to her to get Rin out of there and safe. She promised Sesshomaru that she would prevent Rin’s death, and now she was going to.

“We need to get out of here.” She said, trying to think of a plan. “Especially you Rin.”

Rin blinked. “What about you Kagome?”

Kagome smiled and held her tight. “I’ll get you out of here. Don’t worry about me alright?” The teen girl looked around, trying to find an escape rout. That’s when she saw it. The window would be the best way. Grabbing a pebble, Kagome tossed it only to see that it didn’t have glass. Naraku probably figures it was too high for someone to climb out of it, and on top of it, only a small child could get out that way.

“Rin,” Kagome said, kneeling down to the girl’s eye level. “That window there is big enough to get you though. I'm going to push you up so you can get out. When your outside, run away quickly, but make sure that no one sees you. Find Sesshomaru and the other’s quickly. Understand?”

Rin bit her lip, but nodded anyway. “Will you be alright Kagome-chan?”

Kagome nodded. “I’ll be fine. Just be careful alright?”

Rin gave another nod and began to climb Kagome’s shoulders like she instructed. The small girl could barley see out, but it was enough to see that there was no one wondering near the window. With a small huff, she climbed out, leaving Kagome alone.

Kagome smiled and prayed to Kami that Rin made it safe and sound. She could never forgive herself if something happened to the small girl.

**

Two days had gone by. Two days she didn’t eat, two days she didn’t drink, and for two days, Kagome didn’t sleep. Her thoughts stayed with Rin in hopes that the girl got away safely. She hoped that Sesshomaru would come quickly and save her before she died of dehydration of starvation. Her stomach
growled, and her throat was parched. Already her strength was diminishing. If she didn’t get out soon, then she was going to die.

“Well, it seems like you’re at your limits.” Naraku’s voice echoed though the cell.

Kagome looked at the door and tried to glare at him. But her energy was at their limits. “What the hell do you want with me Naraku?” Kagome’s voice cracked and sounded like sandpaper.

Naraku chuckled. “I believed that if I took you first, Inuyasha would come running after you. It would be the perfect chance to get rid of that retched half-breed once in for all. But something interesting happened instead.” He walked over and grabbed Kagome’s chin. With a hard yank, he revealed the mark that Sesshomaru left on her neck. “Instead, you end up matted to Sesshomaru. Very interesting indeed. At first, I thought Inuyasha would come after you when I did kidnap you. But Sesshomaru has taken down every demon I send at him ever sense I had you in my possession. He even injured Kagura to where she’s on the verge of death as it is.”

Kagome’s eyes widened. This meant that they were close. Finally, someone had come to rescue her. Without warning, Kagome was slammed into the wall harshly. Air escaped her lungs and she even saw white lights for a moment. Kagome fell to the floor like a rag doll, a small whimper coming from her lips.

“Of course, he got help from you it seems.” Naraku snarled as he watched her shaking form on the ground. “When I found out that his human child got away, I almost came down here to kill you. But then again, watching you suffer as you starve to death was tempting. In fact, I wasn’t going to come down here at all. That was till I found out some interesting news. Would you like to hear it?”

Kagome could barley lift her head, but she did anyway, only to glare at the demon.

Naraku walked over to her and whispered in her ear. “Sesshomaru got caught in a blast. The backlash wave that Inuyasha issued in fact. Your mate is no more Kagome. And soon, Inuyasha will follow him.” With a chuckle, he moved away and straightened himself. “You’re all alone my dear Kagome. And no one is going to save you this time.”

Dread struck Kagome. There was no way that Sesshomaru could have gotten caught up in Inuyasha’s attack. It just didn’t seem possible. Tears ran down her face as energy began to fill her again. Her hand closed around a sharp rock and gripped it tightly. Already she could feel her energy pulsing though her body and into this one rock.

“You bastard.” She growled as she began to push herself up. “I’ll kill you… I’ll fucking kill you.”

Naraku turned his attention back to the miko. “You honestly think you can kill me with a rock?” The demon opened his arms wide. “Then fine, come at me. I’ll even let you hit me once to show you how weak and pathetic you are.”

Kagome screamed out as she ran towards him. Without a second thought, and pouring all her remaining energy into it, she pierced his heart with the sharp stone. Instantly her purifying powers coursed though Naraku’s body, killing him as she purified him.

He looked down at her, his blood red eyes unbelieving and surprised. He didn’t take account that she would try to purify him. Not in some rock.

“Die you bastard.” Kagome growled as she pushed the rock in even farther. “Die and never come back this time.”

Naraku opened his mouth in a silent scream as his whole body dissolved, leaving nothing left but a bloodied stone.

Kagome fell down to the ground. Her body had no more in it. With no food and no water, she had had it. Sesshomaru was dead and she knew she would follow soon enough. As the castle began to dissolve around her, she could faintly hear her mate calling out her name. With a small smile. She closed her eyes and allowed the darkness to carry her away.

TBC…

A/N: I AM NOT DONE WITH THIS FIC! Don’t even think I’m done with this. Also, I know that Naraku wouldn’t be stupid enough to let Kagome stab him with a freeken rock. He’s smarter then that and knows better. But I seriously suck at fight scenes. I mean like really suck at them. So, let’s hope I get the LAST CHAPTER UP by tomorrow. Yes, there is one more chapter left. Now, debating on how that goes, I might write a sequel to this. Like a side story that happened when Sesshomaru and Kagome was gone. We all know from what Okami said, but I’m thinking about writing that one out. Anyway, its almost midnight and I’m going to bed. Once more, R&R
