Away From Me

Chapter 14 Saturday (6th Moon) part 1
A/N just so no one is all on my case about the whole ceremony I got the idea from another story I can’t find it nor do I even remember what one it was. I read it a long, long time ago and the idea kind of stuck with me so no hate me or flame me who ever wrote it first thanks for the idea and I give you credit for it. So no it’s not mine get off my back!

Kagome was pacing before the large doors of Sesshomaru’s studies not knowing if she should go in or not. It was the day before Inuyasha was going to arrive and that meant that the ceremony was only hours away. All through the week she had been pocked and prodded for the gown she would be wearing. Finally this morning it was finished. Kagome got to try it on and gasped at the beauty before her. The beautiful silver kimono was accented with white and black stitching that matched her own markings. A black obi was tied around her waist to contrast the vast expanse of silver. Her wings fluttered out of the very low back they had made that dipped to her hips showing off the well toned muscles and markings that lay their. Matching slippers were placed on her feet. After seeing the Kimono she now knew why she had received the necklace. It was perfect for the luxurious Kimono that she was going to wear.

Losing her thoughts in the events that had happened she didn’t notice the door had opened and an amused Sesshomaru stood looking at her. Carefully he reached out and whisked her into the room closing the doors behind them. Kagome looked shaken but smiled at her soon to be demon mate.

“I assume that you wanted to see me” Sesshomaru said getting a nod of the head as a reply. Kagome was beyond nervous she had picked up a book earlier in the day and read something that quite disturbed her.

“I, uh, found this” she said holding out the book and handing it too him. Sesshomaru remained emotionless as he read the title of the ancient text. He looked again at Kagome and smiled.

“My dear Kagome, these practices are long out of date and we no longer use them. You have nothing to fear when we join it will only be for our eyes and the gods above to see. Do not worry about it. If you like I will explain the process to you” Sesshomaru said bringing her to him in a gentile hug. She nodded her head and he went to a couch and sat down with her on his lap.

“The ceremony is quite simple in fact. First the joiner will say a few words about the events that are going to take place. He will announce my name and I will walk up to the alter. Then he will announce your name and you will join me taking my hands and we will turn to the stone table where the dagger will sit on a pillow and a glass goblet will be placed. The man will say a few ancient words and then extend his hand to us. I will take the dagger and I will make a small cut in the palm of your right hand and you will do the same for me. We will then place our cuts together sealing our lives to one another. While we are doing this the joiner will hold the cup under our hands collecting our combined blood. After we separate our hands I will clean yours with my tongue and you will do the same for me. The wounds will heal with the saliva. After that the collected blood will be mixed with a special potion that we will drink allowing our souls to combine. Once that has been done we shall kiss as a newly joined couple. A party shall be held in our honor, where we shall mingle with the guest. After a period of time I shall take you and we shall sneak away to get to the real mating” Sesshomaru concluded looking into the face of Kagome.

“Oh, so that whole mating before the guest is an old practice?” Kagome asked. “Why would they do that?” she continued. “Well at the time they wanted to make sure that the couple joined and would have heirs to the throne. You see when this was written a lot of turmoil was going on because kingdoms were changing hands almost daily. So to ensure a strong demon line of rule they wrote that law so that they could guarantee a strong lineage. It was discontinued because we finally saw the ridiculousness of the law” Sesshomaru said picking Kagome up and striating his cloths. Kagome did the same and looked up to him questioning why he had gotten up at all.

“My brother approaches and it would not do well for me not to greet him” Sesshomaru said placing a kiss on her soft lips. “I will return shortly with the hanyou in toe” he finished walking out of the room and shutting the door.

Like promised Sesshomaru returned and a subdued Inuyasha was following him. His eyes lit up at the sight of Kagome but quelled the thought of giving her a hug because he knew that Sesshomaru would kill him for touching his soon to be mate.

“I see you have survived a week with fluffykins, and not purified him” Inuyasha said earning him a growl from behind. “oh can it will you, I am only here because it is my duty to, so you will just have to endure my name calling dear brother” Inuyasha said sitting down in a large over stuffed chair, and looking at his brother that now stood beside his best friend. “When are the others arriving?” he asked looking bored.

“Some will be coming yet today because of the long travel, but the majority will come tomorrow. You are here early because you need to be fitted for your outfit” Sesshomaru said, inwardly smirking at the boys now paler complexion. “Do I have to?” Inuyasha asked pouting. “Yes” Sesshomaru said crossing his arms looking at Inuyasha. “Fine where do I go?” he asked defeated.

At that moment Rose walked into the room and bowed to Sesshomaru and Kagome. “Rose, please show Inuyasha to the fitting room” Sesshomaru said. “As you wish Lord Sesshomaru” Rose said looking at the young hanyou in front of her. Her eyes softened as she read what he had been through, ‘poor boy’ she thought.

Kagome watched as Rose looked at Inuyasha. She took in the expression on her face and knew she was seeing something that saddened her. Then all of a sudden a light blush flowed over her cheeks as she motioned for him to follow her to the room. Instantly Kagome knew what her next job was going to be and she smiled a wicked smile. ‘Lets play matchmaker after I get rid of a clay pot’ kagome said to her beast. ‘Indeed, and I know how to get her out of the picture’ it replied and they both shared a nice internal chuckle ‘Kikyou better look out she won’t know what hit her’ they both said in unison.

Sesshomaru saw the blush and the way Rose looked at Inuyasha his thoughts went along the same lines as Kagome. ‘I don’t need my brother with a clay pot that is a disgrace to the family name’ Sesshomaru thought. ‘I would agree from the look that Rose gave Inuyasha it would seem as though she may like him’ his beast replied. ‘Now to get rid of the clay pot’ he pondered ‘ah a problem that will need to be thought out’ it replied.

Kagome was leaning on Sesshomaru; he instinctively wrapped his arms around her shoulders. She leaned her head back against his chest and they both sighed at the thoughts running through their heads.

A knock was heard on the doors. “Enter” Sesshomaru said waiting for the person to enter. Jaken entered with a low bow. “I am sorry to interrupt you lord Sesshomaru but some of your guest are arriving and wish that you see them in the dining hall immediately” he said looking scared of what his master was going to do for interrupting his time with Kagome. “Tell them I will arrive shortly I need to see Kagome to her rooms so that she may prepare for dinner later tonight” Sesshomaru said nuzzling into Kagome’s calming scent. “Yes my lord, right away” the imp said scurrying off to the hall to tell the lords what was going on.

“Come let’s get you to your room before you are hounded with various questions from the demon council” Sesshomaru said taking kagome by the waist and leading her to the bedroom. The trip was spent in silence. Kagome knew that Sesshomaru was tense about the dinner he had planned, it would be the first time any of the lords would see her and he knew they could be vicious. Kagome was suddenly panicking, Kouga would be there, she could already feel his approach, two shards were coming fast to the castle unconsciously she stiffened. This alerted Sesshomaru and he stopped their progress.

“What troubles you?” Sesshomaru asked placing a hand on her shoulder. “Kouga is coming” Kagome said a worried expression on his face. “He claims that I am his woman and no matter what I tell him he will not take no for an answer” Kagome said hanging her head in sadness.
“Kagome just because he claims you as his woman does not mean anything, if he tries to say anything about it know that it is not true” Sesshomaru said placing a kiss on her lips pouring compassion into her body by the contact. “Thank you Sesshomaru for understanding, though if Inuyasha meets with him you might have a situation on your hands. Those two don’t exactly have a great relationship. In fact you may want to keep them apart or you may have to remodel this lovely home of yours” Kagome said cheering up at the thoughts that came into her head of what would happen if Kouga tries to do any thing that he normally did.

Sesshomaru stopped them at her door and pulled her tight to his body, smelling her sweet calming scent. Pulling away he looked into her eyes and smiled before the mask was set back in place.

“I will send a servant to get you when you need to be down for dinner. When you get into the room there is a package on your bed I want you to wear it tonight. It is a gift from me to you and it would please me very much to see you in it” Sesshomaru said placing a large hand on her cheek. “Good luck with the vultures down their” Kagome said smiling. “Oh they are far worse then vultures they are old cantankerous demons, worse then this Sesshomaru” he said leaning in for a kiss. Kagome closed the gap and passionately pressed her lips to his own. He pulled her tight into a hug and broke the kiss so that he could nuzzle her neck again gaining the confidence he needed to face the sharks down below. Sesshomaru pulled away and turned down the hall to his impending doom, pulling all of his mental strength forward he would not show any one how much Kagome meant to him, that was a sure sign of weakness to the people who want to see his downfall the most. ‘Prepare yourself Kagome this will be a test for you that makes the impending battle with Naraku pale in comparison’ he thought as he continued on his way.

And the plot thickens; Sesshy and Kagome are planning to get rid of clay pot…dun, dun, dunnn!!!! (You didn’t think I was going to keep her around did you?)
