Chapter Fourteen
"Eh," Koenma lifted his eyebrow, not sure if he should run or kiss his ass goodbye. "I wish to speak to her nothing more. Don't get your dander up." A growl erupted from the inuyoukai and he gulped.
"Sesshoumaru, stop you are scaring the poor man." Kagome tried not to laugh at the man's expression. Who wouldn't be scared? Besides herself, most people feared the man. "It won't hurt to let him speak."
He turned to glare at her, his lip tugged to see her standing there with her hands on her hips. "Very well, if you wish."
"Can we head inside now? I suggest the tournament be postponed for the time being." Koenma watched the girl smile at the former Lord of the Westenlands. Everyone headed back inside, news of the Tournament cancelling was soon spreading. Koenma had everyone but Kagome head into a large room to wait his arrival.
He pulled her off to the side to speak to her, "What happened to the shard you retrieved?"
"Ummm, that's the thing. I don't know." She laughed at his shocked expression. "See when I came back with the last, it kind of disappeared. It went inside my body on it's own, I'm not sure why. I can still sense it, but its not there. Does that make any sense, no I guess it doesn't." She placed a finger to her chin, "Well, when I figure it out I'll let you know."
"I see, atleast now Naraku cannot complete the jewel. He will come for you, he's waited this long for it to appear."
"Oh yeah, I'm counting on it. I plan on killing that motherfucker as soon as he shows his ugly face."
"I want to ask you to stay in the city, I'm sure Yomi will not mind."
Her face fell, what did he just say? Well, she doubted that he even remembered her. He hadn't spoken to her so he probably didn't realize who she was. "I'm not sure if Sesshoumaru will like that idea. I don't really care and I don't see what harm there would be in it. I'm sure if I agree he will insist on staying also along with Shippo and Kirara. So if they can stay as well, I don't see why not."
"Very well, I will inform the others of the situation. I'll send your friends out to you." Koenma walked into the room where everyone was waiting on him.
"So what the hell is going on?" Yusuke asked the second he entered.
"Sesshoumaru the girl is waiting for you." The man nodded and walked out, Koenma sighed in relief. The man gave him the shivers. "What would you like to know? What you saw in the tournament was nothing more than a puppet it would seem. Naraku has yet to come out of hiding but I'm sure he will now. The girl has seen to that."
"Who the hell was that? Both of them." Mukuro was now dressed and sitting in a chair.
"Well the inuyoukai was Lord Sesshoumaru, son of the great Inutaisho. The girl, well that is kind of complicated. She is the Guardian of the Shikon no Tama, a miko of immense power. She is the only one that has the ability to purify the jewel. To be honest, I'd wasn't sure where she was before today. She went missing awhile back, during one of her trips back to the fuedal era. Don't ask it's too confusing to get into right now. I'll just say she once had the ability to travel through time. We will need her help in defeating Naraku. You have all seen what he is capable of. We just have to hope that she can convince that dog of hers to help."
"I'd watch that, Sesshoumaru has good hearing." Shippo spoke from the corner drawing attention to himself finally. "The only one that can get away with insulting him is Kagome."
"I'll keep that in mind, thank you." Koenma could hear the shouting going on outside the door.
Kurama wasn't listening, his mind wandering in circles. To say he'd been shocked to see her again would be an understatement. He recognized her as soon as she had appeared, looking almost the same as the day he'd thrown her out of his life. He knew she didn't know who he was, she wouldn't unless she took the time to study him. All these years he'd been plaqued with guilt and remorse believing he had killed her. She hadn't died but had returned to this time, where she was originally from. It all made sense now, her behavior, her belongings and her appearing out of a well. Somehow she had gotten sent too far back in time. He wasn't sure how he felt about seeing her again. The part of him that was Youko was pleased to see the girl again.
Yomi could feel the different emotions coming from Kurama and understood. As far as he knew she'd been the only woman the fox had taken to his bed more than once. He'd admitted to going to look for her, for him to have done so said a lot. He'd known back then that the girl had meant something to him. Not that he could say anything, he could still remember what she looked like. The image of her was something he'd never forgotten. She had to know who he was, would she acknowledge him?
"Yomi, I wish for the girl to stay in the city. Naraku will come for her, we can't allow her to die." Koenma was speaking to him.
"Is she willing to agree to that?" He asked, wanting to know how she felt about being near him again.
"Yes, she has no problem with it."
"Then she is welcome." A smile crossed his face, she was indeed welcomed. He heard Kurama's intake of breath as he turned to look at him. Should he inform that fox that things had indeed changed. He was no longer in the same position as before. He had lost his son, that left him with an odd ache but the boy had been a weapon. Yet, the one woman that he had desired and craved like no other was once more in his range. His mind centered on remembering the kiss she had given him before leaving. For her it hadn't been that long ago. She hadn't agreed with what Youko had done and she'd come for him. If anything it showed that she had atleast had the smallest amount of care for him. With her staying in his city he'd have her near him, he planned to use it to his advantage.
