Between Best Friends

Chapter Thirteen

Kurama brushed past Kagome to turn the shower on. She stood watching him hardly believing he had just barged in on her shower time. "What if someone finds out that you are in here with me?"

"I'm sure a few of them know already. They will just know how lucky I am." He began undressing, removing his shirt first.

'He's trying to get my goat. Well two can play at that game. He should have learnt by now.' She pulled the tshirt over her head then the pants he had lent her this morning. She was standing in nothing but her panties.

"Are you trying to tease me Kagome?" He removed the rest of his clothes. Without looking at her he jumped in the shower closing the curtain in her face.

'No he did not just do that. Oh, hes going to pay.' She removed her panties placing them with the rest of her discarded clothes. He didn't turn around as she climbed in behind him. He was in the process of wetting his long hair. The soap was to her right which she quickly picked up. Putting a good lather on her hands before pushing his hair over his shoulder.

"What are you doing?"

"Well, didn't you just say how much funner it is to have someone wash your back." She started running her hands over his shoulders squeezing gently as she went. Kurama felt himself get hard but let her continue. Her hands were working their way down his spine. His breath caught when her hand slid over his left cheek. "Well, the back is done. Maybe I should get the front." She wrapped her arms around his waist. Her hands started rubbing over his chest. She could feel herself getting excited being pressed against him.

He felt her make her way down stopping when her hand wrapped around his legnth. "Hmm, whats this?" She asked to no one in particular. Her hands were still coated with soap giving her plenty of lubrication as she stroked him. He turned so he was facing her.
He didn't say anything just pulled her to him. He brought his mouth down to play with her lips.

Kagome felt herself being turned around and placed against the wall. He was right behind her licking along her neck causing chills to run down her spine. She wasn't sure what he planned until she felt him probing her from behind. He grabbed her hips, forcing himself inside her. He placed a hand against the wall beside her head balancing himself. He began to slide out slowly then entering real fast. She heard herself moaning at the sensation. He had his face buried in her damp hair inhaling the scent that was all Kagome. The fire was building once again and Kagome knew it wouldn't take long. She screamed as her orgasm hit, he moaned in her ear as he too found release.

Hiei stood up and walked into the room he and the kitsune had been sharing. He searched for something that Kurama might want to wear since the fool went in without anything. After a few minutes it was plain to see that he was joining her. 'I should let him walk his ass out naked.' Instead he found something and deposited it beside the door for Kurama to find.

Thirty minutes later he saw the door open and the clothes being grabbed. Sesshomaru and the others were still discussing who should go to the fortress they had found. It was said to be the home of Byakuya. They had already tried invading it but some kind of barrier was up. They were stating they'd need Kagome to bring it down. Which for Hiei it meant him and Kurama would be going with the group. She was theirs to protect.

Kurama came out the bathroom with damp hair and a huge grin on his face. He sat down beside Hiei, "What did I miss?"

"If you wanted to know maybe you shouldn't have decided you needed a shower all of a sudden."

"Like the thought didn't cross your mind." The only reply he got was a "Hn." Kurama started listening in and knew what they were debating about. He looked around and noticed the half breed was missing.

Kagome started drying her hair after Kurama left her. She blushed thinking about the last two days. Her life had taken a dramatic change. She wondered how her mom would react to finding about her two lovers. Probably freak and swoon on the spot. After finishing her hair she pulled it up into a high pony tail. She went back to her room to deposit her dirty clothes and to grab her shoes. She needed some fresh air while the others were making plans.

She went out the back way hoping for some privacy for a change. She walked out into the sun feeling its rays stroking her face. It was a beautiful day outside despite everything. What she wouldn't give to be able to go swimming. Put on her bathing suit and play in the water with her friends. She walked a good ways from the house but planned on staying within screaming distance.
A cool breeze was blowing cooling off her heated skin. A voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Kagome," Inuyasha was walking towards her with a sullen look on his face.

"Inuyasha," She tried smiling at him. She felt kind of guilty that she had moved on. Guilt was there but she couldn't bring herself to feel any remorse for her actions. She would always love Inuyasha but she wanted to spend her life with Hiei and Kurama. What she felt for them surpassed the love that she once had for the hanyou. She had come to love them more in a matter of weeks.

"Kagome can we talk?" Inuyasha grabbed her hands. He'd been thinking about it and he wanted her back. He still loved her and wanted to protect her. "When I took Kikyo as my mate I thought I'd never see you again. I love you both, I can't deny that. I still want her but I want you also."

"Inuyasha, I can understand how you feel now. I know what its like to want two people. Feeling torn between two people that you love."

Inuyasha heard her and naturally assumed she was referring to him. "Do you still love me Kagome?"

"Of course I do," Before she could explain her feelings he pulled her into his arms and kissed her. She felt his tongue trying to enter her mouth. She tried pushing him away but his arms wouldnt budge. She felt panic rise in her chest. She tried to sit him but couldn't mutter anything from the force he was holding her. She brought her hands up with the hopes of prying his face away.

Kurama and Hiei walked outside to see her in the hanyou's embrace. From their view point it looked like she was about to cup his face tenderly. Hiei closed the distance between them in under two seconds. Kagome felt herself being yanked back with enough force to send her flying back. She felt herself skid across the ground landing on her hand the wrong way. Pain shot up her arm as she landed.

Her eyes flew up to see Hiei land a punch across Inuyasha's face. The hanyou was knocked to the ground. Hiei was going to kill him if someone didn't interfere. Kurama yelled his friend's name causing Kagome to look at his face. What she saw in his eyes made her heart stop. Betrayal, anger and disappointment towards her. But she hadn't done anything, she had been trying to stop him. She tried to explain. "Kurama wait its not what you think."

"Silence," his voice was cold and hard. It reminded her a lot like Sesshomaru's when he was facing an opponent. He addressed Hiei who was standing in front of the hanyou that had drawn his sword. "Leave him be Hiei. She isn't worth it." Kurama looked at the halfbreed. "We didn't share blood, so I now renounce my mark placed upon her. She is yours."

Kagome felt her heart being ripped out at his words. She turned to look at Hiei hoping maybe she could get him to listen to her. His cold eyes met hers, "As do I." He was gone before she could blink.

She buried her face in her hands and let the tears fall. At one time she would have given anything to have Inuyasha to kiss her. Now, it had caused her to lose the two people she loved more than life itself. They had tossed her aside without giving her time to explain. She didn't ask him to kiss her dammit.

Inuyasha was now standing over her, "I'm sorry Kagome. I just thought." He didnt' get to finish.

"You thought what?" She climbed to her feet. "That I would mourn you forever. Or that no one else would ever want me. Thats your problem you don't think. If you would let me finish I would have told you that I felt that way about them two. NOT YOU!" Her aura was bright pink flying around her as she spent her anger. "Thank you very much for asking me what I wanted once again. I love you as a friend nothing else. I don't want you that way understand. The two I want to be with just dumped me. Thanks to you. You have no idea what you just cost me."

"You'll always have me Kagome." He tried to reach for her.

"I don't SIT want you. SIT! You just ruined my life. SIT! They don't want me now. SIT! I hope you are happy. You are such a jerk. SIT." She turned around and fled into the woods.

Keiko had watched everything from the porch. She had followed Kurama and Hiei outside but they payed no attention to her. She watched Kagome make a crater with the Inuyasha's body then run into the woods. She ran off the porch knowing that her friend would need a shoulder to cry on. She stopped to look inside the crater, he wasn't moving but it served him right.

Kagome ran and fell to her knees. She brought her hand up to feel her neck. The tears began to fall as she could no longer find the scars that they had left her. Both sides were bare and their words came back. "We didn't share blood, so I now renounce my mark placed upon her." "As do I." They had given up their claim on her leaving her alone. She felt someone touch her shoulder and looked up to find Keiko.

Keiko dropped to her knees, "Its okay, Kagome." The girl in her arms began to sob and cry in her shoulder. "I'm sure they will figure out that it was all a mistake. I heard everything. It wasn't your fault. They will realise that and come begging forgiveness I'm sure."

"By then it will be too late." A voice said behind Keiko. She turned to see the demon from earlier standing not even three feet away. Her heart stopped knowing that they were in danger. Before she could scream something slammed across her face. Kagome turned in time to see a tenacle hit Keiko knocking the girl out before her world went black also.

Kikyo followed the aura's of the two demons that had stormed off from her lover and reincarnation. She loved Inuyasha dearly but sometimes he was fickle and thoughtless. It took her several minutes to find them inside a room bickering at each other. She had standing not far from Inuyasha and Kagome as they talked. Of course they hadn't noticed her, which didn't matter. She had seen and heard everything. She had also seen that Kagome had been trying to get Inuyasha to release her and the words spoken after.

They stopped when she entered the room. She accepted the fact that Inuyasha still had feelings for the girl, but the girl apparently loved these two. She usually didn't interfere in the lives of others. It wouldn't be right to sit back and let Kagome's life be ruined because Inuyasha couldn't control his emotions.

Hiei glanced at the woman that looked so much like Kagome. "Get out now woman."

She looked at both of them, "I shall leave but not before I have had my say. Don't try to threaten me into complying, you do not frighten me."

"Say whatever it is then leave." Kurama didn't want to look at the woman that looked like his Kagome. His heart still thought of her as his even though he had renounced his mark.

"Unlike you men I actually watched to see what was going on before jumping to conclusions. My reincarnation did not welcome my lover's embrace. He forced himself on her more or less, she was trying to get loose when you two showed up."

"Don't lie woman. We know what we saw." Hiei stated.

"Really? Did you also see when she informed him that she didn't want him. That she loved and wanted you two, even though you had, what was the words she used, just dumped her. Didn't think so. I know what I saw and heard. The blame should be solely placed on Inuyasha, Kagome is innocent of any betrayal."


Yusuke walked outside looking for Keiko, he was sure he'd seen her walk out. He walked down the steps calling her name, "Keiko."
Damn girl better answer him. He suddenly got a bad feeling. "Keiko."

Sesshomaru walked out to stand beside the screaming boy. Something suddenly started nagging at the back of his mind and he couldn't place a finger on it. Then he smelt it, blood. Kagome's blood. "Get everyone NOW!"

He rushed into the woods looking for any sign of the girl. He came to the spot where it was the freshest and growled. Another blood scent lingered mixing with hers. He had recognized the scent as belonging to the other human girl, Keiko. He raced back to the building in time to see everyone coming outside.

Yusuke was looking around, "Where the hell is Keiko?"

Sesshomaru looked directly at Kurama and Hiei, "Gone. Both girls have been taken."
