Final Battle: Miroku Fights part 2

Miroku, Sango, Kilala and InuYasha wound up back to back. InuYasha was worried about Kagome, she should have been back by now. Fighting the demons he didn’t realize that time had escaped him. They noticed too that the demons receded.

“I think we’ve been set up.” Sango put in.

“Why do you say that?” Miroku questioned.

“Damn, it was to get Kagome out the way. I knew I should not have let her go.”

Miroku and Sango didn’t say anything. They knew what he was going through. They looked into the rice fields and they saw him. They saw Naraku standing there. However, that is not what shocked them. It hit InuYasha the worst. It was Kikyo standing beside Naraku with the bracelet that Sesshomaru had given Kagome. Her raven hair mixed with his brown hair as the wind blew around them because Kagura flew in with Kohaku.

Kikyo chanted an incantation on InuYasha that bound him to a spot. He couldn’t move.

“Kikyo what have you done with Kagome? Damn you Kikyo don’t do this!” he growled.

Kikyo just smiled coldly at InuYasha. Then she nodded toward Kagura.

“Fortress of wind!” Kagura used her fan to create a stronghold around Kilala and Sango leaving Miroku open.

“Ha, if you try and escape this wind window you and your furry beast will be ripped to shreds. Enjoy the show.”

“No, Miroku!” Sango wailed. She knew what was happening. She already saw Kohaku. He was summoned to kill Miroku. Her worst nightmare came true. Either way she was going to lose. InuYasha grit his teeth.

“Damn you Naraku, let them go and take me, fight with me you coward!”

Desperately, InuYasha tried to break free from the spell, but he couldn’t move. Every time he struggled it zapped his power away making him weak.

Miroku stood in front of Naraku. He began to tear away the beads holding the black hole in his hand when all of a sudden a burning sensation started to prickle in his hand.

‘No not now, this can’t be happening now! It’s ready to engulf me. Naraku must be doing this. He doesn’t want me to use my curse. If I did, I can kill all of us sucking us all in a place that is suspended in infinite time.’

Naraku called Kohaku forward and began laughing as he watched the terror on the faces of his enemies.

“Kohaku, kill the monk and make him suffer.”

Miroku and Sango gasped. InuYasha tried to break free again but couldn’t break free. All he heard was the clanging of Kohaku’s weapon meeting Miroku’s staff. Kohaku didn’t miss a beat. He relentlessly went on the offense. He kept hammering into Miroku not giving him the opportunity to fight back. It took every effort Miroku had to block his blows when pain flashed through his arm like lightning. Blood trickled down and his arm went limp.

‘Shit, I’m getting slaughtered here. I can use my wind tunnel; I can take them out but at the risk of InuYasha, Kagome and…Sango? No I can’t. I can’t kill them. I must fight. But, do I kill Kohaku? If I do I hurt Sango. Damn, I’m in between a rock and a hard place. Damn you Naraku.’

He looked up at Sango and with his eyes said he loved her. He knelt down in prayer formation. Kohaku came closer getting ready to give Miroku his death blow when all of a sudden Miroku turned pushing his staff right in to Kohaku chest. Blood squirted all over him as the staff went through his body knocking out the jewel fragment that was embedded into his back. He heard Sango’s anguished scream and prayed for her forgiveness. However, there was a twist to this attack. Miroku was not counting on Kohaku having a sword and plunging it through his body.

Kohaku fell forward dead on Miroku’s staff pushing his sword slowly through Miroku’s body. Miroku groaned with pain as he began to pale at his loss of blood. He could feel his entire body’s shock system closing down. He looked up at Sango one last time and mouthed the three words as he fell into blackness.

InuYasha in shock couldn’t move. He just howled out Miroku’s name as Naraku had the shard collected by his giant hornets. Sango screamed insanely. The two people she loved most in this world were now dead to her. She climbed on Kilala’s back and with her weapon she plunged forward through the wind fortress.

Kagura smiled when she saw that Sango’s limbs were barely hanging on. Kilala lay mortally injured since she tried to take most of the blows for her mistress. Sango petted the bloodied beast and shed her tears.

“I’m sorry Kilala, you’ve been so faithful to me. I love you so much.”

Kilala reverted back to the cute little two tailed kitten as Sango picked her up with one hand and held her to her bosom. Cuts were covering her body as she raised her weapon into the air above her head. InuYasha stared at her wide eyed.

“Hir-ai-kot-so!”

She hurled her weapon toward Naraku, although it didn’t get far. Naraku laughed at her effort. InuYasha gritted his teeth when he saw what Kagura was about to do next.

“Dance of blades!.”

The blades ripped through Sango as she reached her husband and her brother crying over their bodies.

“Mi-ro-ku…Ko-ha-ku…I’m sorry I couldn’t save you…I love you too.” She gingerly kissed Miroku and then she too met the darkness
