Heros and Maidens
Two of the seven demons that were in the warehouse when Yuki’s captor arrived held her arms as the shadowy monster that had kidnapped her gloated.
“Soon we will have the shard back from your fox boy lover.” The figure said.
The dark cloak like covering around it parted and a tentacle reached forth and slid slimily along her check.
“Then once I have consumed your soul and added your blood to the children’s blood that already taints the shard, I will have enough power to breach the barrier and free our Queen!”
The tentacle slid into her blouse, ripping it, and the bra underneath, open.
“Of course, when my kind feeds, it’s a long, slow process from the inside.”
The tentacle came up to her eye level and she saw it had a mouth on the end! She let out a yelp of terror as she felt another tentacle slide up her leg and start ripping open her panties. She screamed.
“Leave her alone!” A voice cried out from he ceiling loft of the warehouse.
“HAHAHA! So Fox Boy you got here quicker than I expected.” The monster said without taking his attention away from the terrified Yuki. “Did you bring the shard?”
“The shard is where you will never get it.” Toshiro said, dropping to the warehouse floor. “The only thing I’m bringing you is death.”
“Brave talk for a misbegotten hanyou. Kill him!”
Six of the other demons charged Toshiro while the seventh continued to hold Yuki. “Sacred Sutras!” Toshiro’s hand came flying out of his jacket and wad of spell scrolls flew out striking three of them. The demons screamed in agony as they burst into flame and fell. Toshiro dodged the first set of claws, turning and drawing his sword at the same time to strike his attacker in the back. The second demon struck, drawing blood with his claws before Toshiro leapt clear. As the Fox hanyou landed, he flung out his free hand.
“Fox Fire!” he yelled and the remaining two demons burst into flames.
The leader roared and, turning to face Toshiro, started to grow in size and mass, reaching almost to the roof of the three story warehouse. What had appeared to be a black cloak, spread out like two huge wings that seemed to absorb the light around them. His face was dark ugly mass with horns sticking out of it and two glowing red eyes. A mass of tentacles spread out from his sides.
“Enough games, Boy! Where is the shard?”
‘Shit!’ Toshiro cursed silently as he gauged the monsters power. He was definitely outclassed, at least strength wise. If only he could have waited a little longer. His cell phone had gotten smashed in the brief struggle with the two minor demons that had ambushed him outside but he certain Shippo was on his way, probably with half the Sunset Clan and the Spirit Detective in tow.
“It’s gone,” he said defiantly. “We sent it back to the past, where you can never get it. By now it’s in the hands of the priestess it rightfully belongs to.”
Toshiro deftly leapt aside as a dozen tentacles shot at him, shattering the concrete where he was standing a moment before.
“If the shard is gone, there is no reason to keep you and your bitch alive now. Is there?” The Monster said angrily.
‘Shit! Shit! Shit!’ Toshiro chided himself as he dodged and slashed at the seemingly endless supply of tentacles. ‘Why couldn’t I have just lied and said Father was bringing it? We could be sitting and having tea while we waited for the cavalry. Damned honesty!’
The demon was clearly very powerful. While he was staying ahead of it, he couldn’t get any good hits in. Foxfire affected it but the wings acted as a shield, protecting its vital spots. His sword barely nicked it unless he put his spirit energy into the blow. In both cases, he was draining his spirit energy rapidly for little return.
Yuki watched the struggle as Toshiro dodged in and around the Monster’s attacks like a flea on a hot skillet. The demon holding her laughed.
“That mangy fox bastard doesn’t stand a chance.”
Suddenly, Yuki stomped as hard as she could with her heel on the demon’s foot, glad she had decided to wear high heels for her date. The reaction was underwhelming. The demon let out an annoyed “Ouch” but loosened his grip enough for her to wriggle free. She jumped on her purse, discarded nearby on the floor, and came out with a metal spray can.
“Mace?” the demon said with a sneer, as he advanced on her. “Don’t make me laugh.”
She sprayed him in the face and demon, grabbing its smoking face, ran screaming into the shadows.
“Try pepper spray and holy water,” Yuki said. As a precaution, when Toshiro had first asked her out, she had asked the priest at her shrine to bless the sprayer.
Turning to the fight, she threw the little spay can at the monster. Unnoticed, it struck the monster’s chest and stuck.
“Toshiro!” She screamed, pointing. “Hit the can! The can!”
Toshiro noticed her and her intent but, she also caught the monster’s attention too.
“Quiet, Bitch! Your death will come soon enough.”
A single tentacle lashed out, sending her flying into a pile of bags in a corner.
“No!” Toshiro cried and, summoning all his remaining spirit powers, directed a blast of spirit energy along his sword at the monster.
“FOXFIRE SWORD STRIKE!”
The energy beam blasted through the wing the monster used to block it and struck the can of pepper spray dead center. The can exploded and the blessed water within combined with Toshiro’s foxfire to burn a large hole in the monster’s chest.
His spirit energy spent, Toshiro dropped to one knee, using his sword as a crutch to stay upright.
Roaring in agony and anger, the monster yelled, “You hurt me Fox Boy, but that all you had left and the fight is not over yet.”
The monster started to advance to finish the Hanyou off, when another voice echoed across the warehouse.
“Good, cause I hate to miss a good fight.” Yusuke Urameshi said, standing in the doorway flanked by Shippo and Kurama.
The monster growled as it evaluated the odds.
“This isn’t over Fox Boy,” it said and, wrapping its wings about itself, faded into the shadows.
“Hey! Don’t run away! I haven’t given out my daily allowance of ass kicking yet!” Yusuke yelled as Shippo and Kurama ran over to Toshiro.
“Are you alright?” Shippo asked the Hanyou.
“Nothing a good night’s sleep won’t cure,” he said glibly. Shippo was not so certain, looking over his son’s torn clothing and blood from various wounds. None looked immediately life threatening, but he didn’t get long to examine them as Toshiro was moving again.
The Hanyou hobbled over to a pile of bags and boxes against one wall.
“Yuki,” he called, as he dug the girl out from the wreckage. Fortunately, the pile had consisted mostly of bags of Styrofoam packing materials which had cushioned her landing.
“Toshiro,” the girl said weakly, as he hovered over her. “You came to save me.”
“Of course! I’m the dashing hero after all.”
She noted the blood all over his clothing.
“You’re hurt,” she exclaimed, trying to rise, but not being up to the challenge, passed out again.
“Yuki!” Toshiro said anxiously, as his energy also reached its end and he collapsed beside her.
Kurama quickly examined them both.
“They’ll be fine,” he announced to the waiting Kitsune and Yusuke. “They are just worn out.”
“Thank the Gods,” a relieved Shippo said, then leaning down, started gathering Toshiro up. “Come on, lets get the dashing hero and his maiden home.”

Warring States Era
Miroku dodged as Inuyasha slashed out at him, destroying a building behind him.
‘He is slow,’ the monk thought, ‘he must be fighting Yamanasu’s control.’
“SIT BOY!” Kagome yelled, and Inuyasha, in mid leap, came crashing to the ground. He immediately started to rise against the pull of the rosary.
“It’s not going hold him,” Sango said.
“I’ve got an idea. Sango, you and Kirara keep Inuyasha distracted,” Miroku said.
“Right” the exterminator said and, leaping onto her fire cat, launched a feinting attack on the hanyou to draw his attention.
“Kagome,” Miroku continued, “my sutras hurt him. If we combine our attacks we may break Inuyasha from his hold.”
“Right” Kagome said, placing an arrow to her bow.
“Sacred Sutras!” Miroku cried, throwing the spell scrolls, as Kagome’s arrow flew. The arrow was immediately enveloped with the glow of the shrine maiden’s purifying spell.
As the arrow and sutras struck the monster, there was a brilliant ball of light followed by an explosion. Yamanasu roared in agony and the badly injured Oni Lord turned and fled into the darkness.
Inuyasha fell to his knees, dazed. The red still filled his eyes and as Kagome approached him with Tetseiga, he growled at her.
“Sit Boy” Inuyasha’s face met dirt again and this time he didn’t struggle against the rosary as Kagome placed the sword in his hand. He rose up a moment later, his golden eyes back again.
Throughout the town, the sight of their lord’s retreat set the Oni in confusion and panic. They fled en mass back into the mountains. Inuyasha and company helped kill or drive off the last of the Oni and then helped put out the fires. Inuyasha had just finished shifting wreckage to rescue a couple trapped underneath, when Yuriko found them and informed them of the kidnapping of the fox kits and Kit’s battle with Momoru.
Kit was found an hour later naked, covered in blood, and unconscious in an alleyway. He was carried back to the house. He was deathly ill, but improved quickly once Kagome purified the miasma in his system.

Deep in the depths of Yamanasu’s mountain fortress, a child’s sobs echoed in a cold dank cell.
“I’m sacred Shippo!” Hanako said, clinging to the older fox cub.
“Everything is going to be alright. I’ll protect you,” Shippo said. ‘Yea right! What am I going to do? I’m just a little kid.’ He thought to himself.
“Inuyasha and the others will come and rescue us,” he continued, trying to calm her.
The sound of the bolts being turned startled them both. Shippo jumped in front of Hanako defensively, even though his knees shook. Taking a leaf and placing it on his head, with a poof, he transformed into his flying form. While it looked like nothing more than a giant pink ball with eyes and mouth, it was the largest form he could take.
‘If I can just startle the guard long enough to grab Hanako and run away, it will be enough,’ he thought.
The door opened and Momoru and an Oni guard stepped in.
“ROAR!” Shippo-ball yelled rather unimpressively. Momoru reached up and slapped the ball, setting it spinning. Shippo-ball disappeared in a poof and Shippo fell flat on his face at Momoru’s feet. The warrior picked up the dizzy fox by the tail and raised him to eye level.
“Just the person I was looking for,” he said and, turning, walked out of the cell.
Hanako screamed as the Oni advanced on her, claws outstretched.
“HANAKO!” Shippo yelled.
Momoru spun back at the guard.
“Leave Her Alone!” He commanded.
“You have the one you want. Gron just take this one for snack.”
Hanako screamed again as the Oni reached for her. In a blur of motion, Momoru’s sword was drawn and the offending claw fell to the floor. Hanako fell silent, staring at it in shock. Gron turned and roared as he charged the warrior. Momoru, in a seemingly impossible move with a handful of foxtail, turned and, one handedly, decapitated the Oni. The body barreled forward into the far wall and collapsed as the head landed at Hanako’s feet. The little fox cub stared at it and screamed again.
Momoru turned to the two Oni outside the door.
“Does anyone else have a problem with my instructions?”
The Oni shook their heads.
“Good, remove the body and lock her up again. No one is to touch her without my permission.”
Hefting Shippo by the tail, he stormed down the corridor.
