Hey there! I'm back again! Thanks for the reviews guys! I'm at 189 Holy cow! Oh and apparently the answer to my lemon question is a big, fat yes. So I will try to write one. TRY. Maybe not succeed. But since I am only sixteen, (although I do read a lot) it might be a little bit difficult. But I will try. And it may or may not be appearing on fanfiction.net. I could just post it on adultfanfiction so fanfiction.net don't boot me off. Even though it IS rated R anyway... And a rambling on I go...
Oh... And there will NOT be a Sesshoumaru/Kagome lemon. Ew. Ew. And more Ew.
On to Chapter Fourteen!
Chapter Fourteen: Basic Needs
~I never knew how much I needed you,~
How I need to hold you.
How scared I was for you,
~I never realised.~
Kagome turned, screaming in terror as she felt the hand enclose her wrist. Before she knew it she was swept up in a bone-shattering hug.
"Wha-?" She managed before she was silenced by a fierce, rough kiss. She stiffened instinctively, pushing against the strong band of arms.
Inuyasha drew back, breaking the kiss, leaving Kagome breathless.
"Inuyasha!" She cried out, hurriedly going to hug him back. "Are you alright? I was so worried!" She felt relief wash over her, seeing him safe.
Inuyasha buried his nose in her neck, drawing in a deep breath and inhaling her scent. 'Thank the kami's she's safe...' He thought to himself, drawing her in closer and ignoring her questions.
Kagome melted against him, hearing him sniff at her neck. She heard him mumble something into her hair, although she couldn't catch what it was.
"What was that, Inuyasha?" She asked, refusing to loosen her hold on him.
Inuyasha lifted his head slightly, staring down into her eyes.
"I was so scared. Scared that maybe Sesshoumaru had killed you... I don't know what I would do without you..." He confessed, resting his chin on the top of her head. He lifted one clawed hand to stroke her hair, relaxing her.
Kagome leaned up against him, surprised at his honesty. She felt surrounded by his warmth, and immensely safe. That is, she felt safe until she remembered there was an injured inuyoukai laying on the cot.
"Umm... Inuyasha? Maybe this isn't the right place for this. Sesshoumaru could wake up any moment."
She felt Inuyasha stiffen, releasing her and turning toward the pallet.
"What in the hell! You brought him back!? Baka onna!" He took on a defensive stance, although Sesshoumaru was obviously out cold.
Kagome stood ram-rod straight, glaring back at Inuyasha through the dark.
"Well I couldn't just leave him there to die now could I!?" She argued, setting her hands on her hips.
Inuyasha glared back at her, realising her miko's soul was too pure to leave an injured person alone. Though he was curious...
"What did you do to him, anyway?" Inuyasha looked down curiously at the still form of the inuyoukai lord.
Kagome looked down at the floor, before lifting her gaze to look out the window.
"I didn't do anything... After you got thrown into the forest, I felt my powers rise again. I guess he felt it too, because he turned back into a human, demanding that I tell him why I hide them. He... tried to kill me again. He took out his big sword, and I somehow raised a barrier around myself. Sesshoumaru just kept going, and I got so scared. I thought I was going to die, and not ever see you again... I was getting ready to throw a ball of energy at him, and he was swinging his sword down. Then... Shippou stabbed him in the gut with Tetsusaiga."
Kagome finished, voice trailing off, still a little bit awestruck at the kit's courage. She glanced up at Inuyasha, searching his eyes for his feelings.
Inuyasha stared down at her, eyes wide, mouth agape.
"Shippou...? Keh. That kid's too weak to even lift the sword. He couldn't bring down Sesshoumaru!" Inuyasha said with a sarcastic tone in his voice. He still had his ears trained for any change in Sesshoumaru's breathing patterns. 'That kid practically killed him. With my own sword. Something I haven't been able to do.' Inuyasha was just *slightly* irritated at this small fact. Slowly, Inuyasha got passed that small fact to wonder how Kagome got Sesshoumaru back to the hut. "Hey, Kagome? How in the hell did you manage to get him here? You ain't that strong."
Kagome glared at him. "Shippou did too take down Sesshoumaru. And don't you call him weak! He is just a kid after all." Kagome ignored his last question, hoping not to have to tell him that she touched Sesshoumaru's ass.
Inuyasha keh'ed again, realising Kagome was avoiding answering his question. "Tell me, Kagome."
She hesitated again, before recognizing that stubborn sound in his voice. He wasn't going to give it up. "Shippou transformed in his pink bubble thingy, and I lifted Sesshoumaru onto him. I managed to get him into the hut and on the cot by myself though. See! I'm not weak!" She declared triumphantly.
He nodded, accepting her answer. Kagome mentally wiped her brow in relief.
"He ain't staying though. I'm throwing him back into the forest right now!" He informed her.
"No you are not! He's still bleeding!" She argued, moving to stand in between Inuyasha and the cot.
Inuyasha smirked. "How you gonna stop me? You're just a weak human girl."
Kagome felt her temper rise. "Inuyasha? SIT BOY!!"
Inuyasha went crashing to the floor.
"Baka onna! What the hell did you do that for!?" Inuyasha forced his head up, glaring at the angry woman in front of him. That's when he noticed her face was darkened with a bruise on her cheek. And he got angry all over again. "That bastard bruised you! He is sooo dead." He growled, waiting for the spell to fade.
Kagome rolled her eyes. "Oh puh-lease! It doesn't even hurt that much! And he hurt you a lot worse then he hurt me!" She gasped, realising she had forgotten all about his injuries. And she had just sat him! That had to hurt.
She knelt down beside him, taking the opportunity to look at the slash accross his back. His haori had been nearly shredded during the battle, but now it was almost in one piece again. Curious.
"Inuyasha? What's with your clothes? They were all ripped up but now it's almost like new." She brushed her hand over the material just to make sure.
Inuyasha sat up, crossing his legs and arms. "They are fire-rat robes you know. They fix themselves. I've had them since I was a kid."
Kagome nodded. "Ok then. Now I need to look at your wounds. Take off the shirt." She instructed him, sounding professional.
Inuyasha jerked, hesitant to undress. His back hurt like hell, but he was more worried about the poison from the cuts on his cheek. He could feel his body becoming weaker, trying to fight it off. He was surprised he had lasted this long.
He realised Kagome was looking at him expectanctly, and shrugged out of the haori, wincing as it pulled at his already healing skin.
"It's really alright. Healing already, see?" He said, hoping to avoid her pouring that burning liquid on it.
Kagome shook her head. "I had still better disinfect it before it closes completely." She collected the supplies from the side of the cot, eyeing the sleeping form warily.
Inuyasha groaned, already anticipating the pain, although he knew it would probably help stop the poison.
"Ok, ok. You can throw that crap on it all you want, just not in here." He was getting antsy with Sesshoumaru that close to him.
Kagome nodded in agreement. "Why don't we go sit at the bottom of the steps? That way, you'll be close enough to hear Sesshoumaru if he wakes up."
Inuyasha nodded, standing up and grabbing Tetsusaiga. He followed her out of the hut, and they sat just outside the hut. Inuyasha gripped Tetsusaiga in his right hand, bracing for the burning of the alcohol.
Kagome strained her eyes, trying to see his back in the almost-pitch black outside. She only had the light of the half-moon to go by.
"Inuyasha? Is there a lantern here anywhere? I can't see." She asked, standing up.
Inuyasha nodded again, jumping up as well, and running back into the hut. He skirted around the cot, glaring at it, before grabbing the lantern and the things Kagome called 'matches'. He ran back outside, handing both items to Kagome before sitting back down.
She lit the lantern quickly, relieved when she could see more than a foot in front of her. She opened the bottle of alcohol, dripping a little onto his back. She winced when he growled in pain.
"Sorry! I know it hurts, but it will help stop infection." She poured more on, watching the liquid mingle with the blood on his back. Inuyasha only hissed this time.
"So where are you gonna sleep tonight anyway? Sesshoumaru's in your bed." He pointed out, trying to distract himself from the pain. She had begun to wrap his torso in gauze.
Kagome nibbled her lip, unsure. "I guess I'll just have to sleep on the ground tonight. I have a sleeping bag..."
Inuyasha snorted. "Yeah, you're gonna be real safe there. Some bug demon could crawl in your ear or something. You're sleeping with me in the tree tonight." He said derisively.
Kagome jerked, startled. Then she finished wrapping his back before answering. "You sleep in a tree? How come you don't fall out?" She moved to sit down next to him.
Inuyasha shrugged. "I just don't, that's all. I been sleeping in trees since before I can remember."
Kagome nodded. "I don't think I want to sleep in a tree though, Inuyasha. I would probably fall out and break my neck." She said, a smile in her voice.
Inuyasha glared at her. "I wouldn't let you fall."
Kagome raised a brow at him. "You would be asleep, how would you know if I was going to fall or not?"
"Just trust me, alright?"
She didn't know why, but she did. "Alright... As long as you promise not to let me fall, I guess I'll sleep in the tree with you tonight."
Inuyasha smirked. He had begun to feel tired. He yawned, opening his mouth wide and showing his fangs.
Kagome, seeing him yawn, yawned as well. "I'm sooo tired. It's been a hard day. So what tree do you sleep in?"
Inuyasha pointed to the farthest tree nearby.
Kagome gulped. The lowest branch was almost twice her height above the ground. Maybe she better not sleep in the tree tonight...
Her decision was made for her as Inuyasha swept her up in his arms, and leaped into the tree. He wrapped his arms around her to keep her from falling, and his long sleeves drifted over her to keep her warm. Kagome was too surprised to protest before she was trapped in his embrace, leaning against his back. She fell asleep within moments. Inuyasha followed soon after.
* * * * * * * * * * * *
Dawn came, and Kagome was still snuggled against Inuyasha in their tree. Kagome stirred, turning in Inuyasha's arms. She gasped as she looked up at his face. He was deathly pale. She nudged him, trying to wake him up.
"Inuyasha? Inuyasha! Wake up!" She shook him when she got not response.
Inuyasha's only sound was a whine.
That's when Kagome noticed the swollen gashes on his cheek.
"Oh, please God, no..."
Poison.
Finally! So sorry the chapter was over a month late. Grrr. I'm still working 37 hours a week. Although I'm making $9/hour now. Yay me. But... Less time for writing. And I started teaching at the dojo this week too. So no time for writing. But here it is anyway! Yay me. And it is short anyway. I'll try to make the next one longer though!
