Won second place for prompt!

“You need not worry, Jakotsu, I am not new at this game. I know when and what to tell others that will not endanger myself or my quest. Except for perhaps when it came to you, but I knew instantly that you could be trusted and I have not doubted that for a moment since. But I can assure you that I do not have a red, woolen hood pulled over my eyes when it comes to him, Jakotsu, he is not an enemy in disguise. But I also have no intention of tell him everything, only what little was needed to get the information I sought.

“One night on the trail we were discussing past jobs we have held and it turned out one of his was at a sliver mine run by one of Onigumo's underlings. I had heard of his name before, I had just never gotten an idea of where he was operating. Now I know and we have the next clue in the puzzle,” Bankotsu assured him with a smile, though it did not have the desired affect of assuring him as he had hoped it would.

“Forgive me, Bankotsu, for doubting your judgment, but I do not understand. How is it he went from being the mad man that tried to burn a building full of people alive, us included, to being a trusted friend; traveling with us in the quest to avenge your parents? I am eternally grateful to him for helping when that coward attacked you, but even still, I can not imagine the fact that he was simply a second faster than me with a gun is enough reason for him to be so close to you, so fast.”

Instead of answering right away, Bankotsu urged his horse forward until she was standing just beside Jakotsu's; gently cupping his cheek before leaning down to place a chaste kiss on his lips. “Thank you for your concern, Jakotsu. You have no idea just how much it means to me to have someone who actually cares what happens to me in my life.” Though a bit confused by his words, as they did not even begin to answer his question, Jakotsu simply smiled at him softly while deciding to give him the time he needed to finish. Obviously there was more he wanted to say and Jakotsu was going to give him whatever time he needed to prepare himself even if he was already beginning to dread what he might say.
